I'm going to be running the Cabin Fever module for my game group.Any advice with this particular module or with refereeing Cyberpunk 2020 in general? I'm pretty new to refereeing and to the system itself. Also any cool ideas or modules that I could use in a future session welcome. So far I'm trying to make a more chill campaign that's more about fleshing out the setting rather than making some epic plot about saving the world or something along those lines.
modules are all dog shitmight as well play a video game

'California Man' rules.
>>96815915>rather than making some epic plot about saving the worldGood because that's not what Cyberpunk's deal is. Think of it like Conan vs Lord of the Rings, it's not "we must do X for the greater good, it's "we must do X because it's personal." Conan saving people from Darth Vader's snake cult was a side effect, not the objective. >>96815954Dude, don't be mean, it's uncalled for.
>>96816379>and don't make NPCs too likeable, they are all strung out and live in a nightmare world so they should have some edge and some stupidity to themI think I generally do that, if anything the default for my npcs is that they are cynical assholes, but as in people trying to survive a harsh world not as in actively trying to fuck over the players.>>96816497Generally I like bittersweet tones, sort of showing something good in between all the bad, specially at the end of each session.
>>96815915cabin fever is super boring, just a bunch of cutscenes between roleplaying bits
>tfw no advice for a 30 year old module
>>96815915Well for starters read the module cover to cover. Make sure to folow the author's advice on pg 3. He's not kidding. Know your players if they are action oriented over thinking it out types (no snubs here) this will be a very tough module for them. Make sure you ask the basics to yourself before you run your session. How do the characters know each other? This their first time working with each other? Who owns the souls of the folks who went for the 20k in bonus tech? Remember there are no good guys including th PCs. Especially no such thing as a good corp. Style over substance. Combat is deadly in CP2020. The type of game you describe you want to run is better served with other modules/products. From Atlas Games - Night City Stories and Streetfighting are good story anthologies. From R Talsorian - Tales from the Forlorn Hope and Land of the Free will give you good insight to the setting. Then depending how sark you want to go there is the Ianus Games stuff. Those I will warn you might be triggering for some folks. Back in the day this wasn't an issue but may be today. Feel your players out before going to those.
>>96815915The key to running cyberpunk is to get right to the edge of everything going bad. Look for ways to make it feel like that a gunfight might break out at any moment. My favorite trick is to make it seem like two NPCs have a simmering beef and one of them is slightly unhinged.
>>96818165Because its' a module nobody really likes
>>96819991Seth Skorkowsky liked it
>>96821266>eceleb faggot cuckold liked crappy modulecolor me shocked
>>96815915First of all, congratulations on choosing the best Cyberpunk game there is. For me, as a long-term Cyberpunk 2020 ref, the best advice I can give you is to have a certain vision of how you want the setting to be, and to know the system really well. This way, you're always ready to improvise. Also, know your players well (what do they like, what do they don't like...).
can someone plz post the mega I keep fucking forgetting to back it up when I factory reset my computer
>>96815915I hear they streamlined a ton for Red. Might want to playtest the combat to see which one is better.

In the spirit of the thread, has anyone got any ideas or even inspirations for cyberpunk horror gigs (or even city wide events like if ReaperAI's cyberdrone insurrection actually happened?).
