first for scythe sucks
>>96824195>What is a game that you have mastered?Carnegie. Even with the expansion content, going all in on certain tiles/departments makes the game easy and more difficult for others.>How would you deal with someone cheating in your group?I had this happen recently during a game of Search for Planet X. One of the players, a grown man in his late forties even, was trying to look at my board on the sly. Like not in a "lol, I can see your board!" way but a creepy kind of trying to side eye over top of the screen way. I just stop playing games with those types of individuals. Most of the other stuff I've seen isn't cheating as much as not understanding the rules. I played Power Grid with a husband and wife that were adamant that you could not build through a connection if it already had an opponent building on it. Like frothing mad that I even mentioned that they'd been playing it wrong for years. I point out the rule and then try to avoid playing with them, too.>What's something you'd change about your favorite game?I'd update the art in Race for the Galaxy.
>>96824403You play with strangers?
>>96824460Jokes on you - I'm actually the stranger. I float around in a bunch of groups so I can pick and choose what I'm playing and don't get stuck playing kickstarter of the month every time.
>>96824511any milfs in those groups btw?
As a small box game are these worth it:> Omen a Reign of war (heard it was good as a good 1v1 battler but not sure if it's that great or it's just cause it not that known)> Reforest (no idea)> Pax Illuminaten (looks interesting but not sure if it's on parr with other pax games)> Air, Land and Sea > Arboretum (used to be pretty popular)> Knarr
>>96824576maybe
>>96824585>ArboretumThis game is acid. It is blood cancer. Truly, it nettles me to the very solar plexus. A godless, little bitch of a thing that sings with Christmas-y glee every time it devours my hopes and bedevils my dreams. At first blush, I thought it some manic pixie dream girl. I was wrong; consider me deliciously subverted. It turns out the game doesn't love me back. Well, sometimes I'm convinced it does. It's complicated. But I'm in too deep now. Remember that part in Hellraiser when Spike Lee says: "The Box. You opened it. We came"? He was talking about the artwork by Guérin and Quilliams. Admittedly, I shared a similar biological response. God, what a pretty puzzle. Tart. Acerbic. Hateful. And agonisingly unassuming. I won't stop thinking about it – I can't. It stares at me through mirrors that refuse to bear my reflection. It whistles through lips gleaming with my still-wet bile. It busks gladfully at my expense - see its tip bucket filled to brim with my own very organs. No tears, please. It's a waste of good suffering.
>>96824195>Jeroen, Joris, Daan & ThijsDoesn't get any dutcher than thisAl die willen te kaap'ren varen...
>>96824195>BusThis game is unmannered. 9/10.
>>96824232Based, correct-anon
>>96824643But is the gameplay good?
>>96824585Arboretum and Knarr are good, can't imagine they're that expensive either. Haven't played the others.
>>96824585think about Castles of burgundy the card game.>>96824619Quentin tarantino made a board game?
>>96824232it should've just been Company of Heroes but with mechs instead of tanks. Thankfully the videogame (Iron Harvest) is exactly like that.
>>96824585>> Air, Land and Seait's pretty good, simple and once you know all the 14 cards you can really start bluffing and get wins you're not supposed to win becaue my opp got scared and thinks you got the Escalation card and that's why i'm playing all my cards face down, while in reality it's to hide that i got jack squat and i know he has coinflip odds to get the Heavy Tanks, Planes, and Battleship in his hand, and i hope that he only got one and not two of them AND didn't get Escalation.for himself cause then the ruse is busted
>>96825279>ArboretumCan you explain this >>96824643 ?Also do you prefer Knarr or Arboretum?
>>96825740Not that anon but I think both are pretty good. At the moment I prefer Knarr. It's not as brainburny as arboretum by far (if that's good or bad depends on mood) and somehow manages the absurd feat of feeling like a much bigger and longer game than it is. One of the few games to successfully compress a midweight game into a sub-30 min experience. It's also much better at 3p than you'd think albeit clearly at its best at 2p
>>96825490>Castles of burgundy the card game.is that still being printed or do I have to contact some weird european seller?
>Troyes: The Dice Game>The Castles of Burgundy: The Dice Game wtf werent those already dice games?
>>96826120Do you not like dice?
Why do games take so long to be released? Once they are designed, illustrated and everything, why does distribution take so long? youtube hacks have played games from 1 or 2 years ago that havent even been released. Why?
>>96824585Arboretum looks cute but gameplay is not cute. >When the deck is exhausted, players compare the cards that remain in their hands to determine who can score each color. For each color, the player(s) with the highest value of cards in hand of that color scores for a path of trees in her arboretum that begins and ends with that color;>If a player doesn't have the most value for a color, he scores zero points for a path that begins and ends with that color. That's kinda evil design.
Arboretum will mind rape you. DO NOT play if you want an easy going game. Last warning.

Yay or nay?
>>96826361Gay
>>96826361meh
>>96821189I’d say the must haves are pretty low. Too many varying opinions on…everything:>CampaignsCarcossaForgotten Age>Investigators >Dunwich >Carcossa>Scenarios >Excelsior Hotel Personally I own Dunwich, Carcossa, Forgotten Age, and Hemlock Vale for campaigns and Dunwich, Carcossa, and Forgotten Age for investigators. I *would* like Circle Undone or Dreamlands for investigators too but it’s not necessary. Next campaign I was planning on getting Innsmouth but I guess it’ll be Drowned City lol.
Is Sol better than Arcs?
>>96826808we hate wehlre we hate wehrle
>>96826808Two totally different experiences. I enjoy both.
>>96826808>is a mechanic's shop better than a mexican standoff?
>>96826808it’s certainly more elegant
>>96826260Boats are so slow you have no idea.
>>96826033You have to contact some weird European seller. They probably want like $10 though.
>>96826033There's a lot LOT of them on the secondary market for cheap. Like ~10 euro
>>96826361I saw this at a game night recently. The table playing Dune Imperium started later and finished earlier. It could have been an issue with the players though.>>96827067Boats are plenty fast. The oceans are too big.
>>96826808No idea but I find Sol so weird in terms of artstyle. >minimalistic, sleek art>Overproduced but heavily abstract plastic unit pieces>The board is a photorealistic picture of the sunUsually I don't mind but this mixture feel very weird to me
>>96827285
>>96826510Thanks for the rundown, anon. I appreciate it. Looks like Carcosa and Forgotten Age are top of most lists from what I have seen on YT. Now it's a matter of waiting to pounce on a reasonable price. Ebay sellers are already pricing them like long OOP games. At that point I would rather just buy 3KR since it actually is long OOP and discussed a lot here lately. That may just be the contrarian in me though.
Redpill me on Arkham Horror LCG vs Arkham Horror: The Card Game vs Elder Sign. Are they all worth it?
>>96827728None of them are worth itAlso the LCG and Card Game are the same thing lol
