His working on E1 and having it thrown out is likely given how disorganised they were. He was told to work on Tom's levels, which included some E1 stuff. I think he's said he saw there was no E1M1 and, not having been told this was deliberate, made one.Romero's claim is also inaccurate, as E1M8 is a Tom and Sandy level.Carmack's ego was justified but that and his autism gave him tunnel vision. Willits seems to have been good at manipulating him and did so to benefit himself at everyone else's expense. They should have hired his step sister for those levels instead.
