Post what makes you think a group will be good?
>>96829807consistently availableengages with the gameknows the rulesisn't a nigger/retard out of character
>>96829807>Shows on time>Can negotiate schedules>Wants to try out new systems on a regular basisAny of those three means a good player/GM, getting two or three is perfection
>>96829807Ive never had a bad group. Just show up and try to have fun, thats all i ask
From my experience, besides the obvious ones that have already been mentioned:* doesn't use twitter slang * has watched old mecha anime that's not just NGE* posts cute cat pictures * does something creative in their free time
Takes RP seriously and is invested
>>96829807Hasn't been tainted by modern D&D.ORTried modern D&D and thought it sucked.Forget green flags, these are both GOLD flags.
>>96829807>Anon, you are using cropped loli porn as your character's image. Pass the link or fanbox to the full picture>the shopkeeper offers you a gyaru elf slave for a cheap discount>you may claim the orc warchief's wife as part of your combat loot
>>96829807>DM helps integrate my character and backstory into their world.>DM doesn't arbitrarily ban things.>Players are invested in the game.>Players know how their character works and what to do in their turn in combat.>Players lets others have their time to shine.
>>96829983>Dare you enter my magical realmWrong thread. The red flags thread is the other one.
>>96829807Casual racismNo women presentGM starts the first session with "I haven't actually read the rules but"
>>9683024010/10 would play
>>96829876I haven't watched any mecha anime ever.Does that work against me?
He is my friend.
>>96829807Arrives on timePays attention to the game and not his phoneNo anime pic on the character sheetActual character sheet, not an appFocuses on combat even when it isn't his turnTook the time to read the rules and the most complex mechanics his character uses
>>96830527Anon, a lack of a green flag is not a red flag. These aren't a requirements, these are just things shared between the good GMs that I've met.
>>96829807>changes his character when it's clear the group is missing a vital role and his initial idea is redundant or unnecessary
>printing out character sheets, lists, and notes. shows preparation and effort. >shows up 10-15 minutes early. Courteous beyond social norms and shows they actually want to be there.>reads war history. They’re just good players, i dunno what else to say.and the holy grail of green flags>painted minis
>most of the group is in their 30s or older>all have respectable jobs and take part in society in some way>working understanding of the game>have some kind of creative or artistic hobbyThese people always make the best groups.
>>96830240>Casual racism>No women present>GM starts the first session with "I haven't actually read the rules but"This perfectly describes my game LMFAO
>they scribble art of their characters on their character sheets
All players are autistic, LGBT, and/or furries. Guaranteed peak gameplay.
>>96829807Their cultural interests aren't just nerd shitThey like more than an handful of gamesThey read>>96829983>>the shopkeeper offers you a gyaru elf slave for a cheap discount... how would you even be a gyaru in the usual fantasy setting? I mean, ok, you are blonde, tan and more or less slutty. But beyond that? Not even animu has native isekai characters in school uniforms and loose socks
>>96830002Best response in the thread but I'll also add>Players and GM help each other when necessary.Fuck player vs. dm autism
>>96829807They're my friends. That's the only green flag I need.
>Own their own books>Talked with me before they ran a character with a gimmick>Actually wrote a custom backstory>Doesn't play with their *fucking* phone when it isn't their turnYeah, forever DM here, but still.
>>96829807-show up on time-attend most sessions-chill and reasonable when disagreements over rules come up-players are okay with bad things happening to their characters-literate
>>96829807>One party member decides to be the designated note taker>Everyone knows their character sheet back to front>Every character backstory is unique and interesting, building or drawing upon the established lore of your settingI don't ask for much, but as a DM my party ticking these boxes is pretty much it. Plus banning phones/laptops/tablets at the table and forcing everyone to use pen and paper.
>>96829807Outside to the basic is available when planned out. Engages outside of combat or social checks they have to roll or do something, and know how to play without asking or spending 5 mins to guess which spell to use.Know how to make a backstory for the level they are starting out. Many people make their character seem like a hero who already saved the nation and their starting at level 1 or the same woke "My character was hated cause I was gay/trans/a woman/x race/etc." As well as something simple. Willing to engaged with the world's lore and help it grow not just havewave it aside.
>>96833816>>96830548
>Dm does voices>Drinking and smoking>The campaign is so lethal there's a pool of pregens in the middle of the table>No tag-along girlfriends, woke faggots or retards
>>96836341>i am a manly man.jpeg
>>96829807When they turn up at your door dressed as the characters they are going to play. It shows total immersion and commitment to the game, as well as showing some understanding of the historical setting the game is derived from. (something that is lacking in most modern clueless uneducated casual gamers).
>>96829807Acts as an assistant GM. Herding the tard, helping the forgetful guy with rules, bringing the disengaged wallflower into the action. Helps with other aspects of the game. Offers to host, brings food, etc. Guys who expect to be fed, reminded about games, etc tend to have other red flags. Researches the rules and lore. Even a couple lore and rules videos on YouTube makes the game go much smoother than showing up with zero clue about what's going on. Has other hobbies. Especially an outdoor one like hiking, orienteering, gardening, etc. People who don't spend any time in nature are emotionally crippled NPCs and you can't convince me otherwise. Sets reasonable boundaries with loved ones. A lot of geeks have really poor self-esteem so they'll date awful normie or BPD women who test them by constantly calling or manufacturing crises to get them to come home. I want players who are comfortable with being alone or have decent wives/girlfriends with have hobbies and friends of their own(yes, they exist but they all get scooped up in college).
>>96830240These are unironically the biggest green flags you can find. Somebody without a stick up there ass who showed up with a dream he wanted to share.
>>96829838>wants to constantly try new systems instead of playing a campaignred flag
>>96836341>smokingIt looks cool in old photos and I can appreciate the casual self-destructiveness but I can't fucking stand the stench or how half my coworkers are allowed to just fuck around outside half their shift and turn into huge fagmasters if they can't run outside to smoke every 30 minutes.
