What's the better TCG? I only know yugioh because that's the card game everyone in my generation (zoomer) played. I thought MTG was like "the more serious fantasy TCG" and yugioh was for kids but apparently it's just about cowboys and spiderman and gay pride now? So I guess I'm sticking with ygo.
>>96846982Who cares? Retard.>ohh ooohhhh my franchise is better than your franchise!!!>300 repliesI hope a mod sees this and deletes the thread to spare everyone 6 hours of their time.
>>96846982MTG is still the better game despite the wokeshit, retarded crossovers, and ai slop, which should tell you more about the absolute state of modern yugioh than anything else.
>>96846982>but apparently it's just about cowboys and spiderman and gay pride now?Two sets and a secret lair does not redefine a game.
>>96846982Yugioh is a better game mechanically but magic has some really fun formats. It all really depends on the scene at your store. I only play EDH anymore because of that
>>96847084>Two sets and a secret lairC'mon, you're not being honest here
>>96846982Fuck your ragebait thread. Grow up.
>>96848119I seem to have struck a nerve.
>>96847202>Yugioh is a better game mechanicallyI handtrap your synchro link pendulum abc xyz aeiou summon
>>96846982They're both fucking garbage, anonMTG keeps using that retarded-ass land mechanic, set rotation makes your cards worthless paper, Commander is a joke with 20 (different) made up rules for each table, and Wizards have whored out to any franchise willing to be featured on its cardsYugioh is the definition of powercreep and every new card has so many effects to keep up with the meta that you need a microscope to read it. The gameplay consists of watching the opponent play solitaire for 20 minutes then you spend 20 minutes playing your own solitare. Don't even thing about deckbuilding, after you include your archetype cards and your staples there won't be any slots left to customize your deck.Pick up a deck of playing cards and go fish
>>96849656Yugioh has time wizard format which is the only reason I decided to come back to playing. I was wondering if magic had anything similar. I don't understand magic formats.
>>96846982I use the sol ring on the off case it makes a magatard type an hero. But mainly because the artist is awesome
yugioh genesys is better than poker
>>96849684pre-modern is the closest thing i can think of to retro formats in yugioh. not sure how balanced of a format it is but it seems to have a decent following
>>96849684Play pauper, it's literally designed to fuck of WotC
>Magic the Gathering
>>96849634I put your planeswalker mutate who connives for his evoke cost on the stack as a state based action
>>96846982If Magic is for LGBT trannies, then YGO is for sex offenders. Look at the average Traptrix player and ATTEMPT to disagree.
>>96851296>LGBT trannies, then YGO is for sex offendersthose are the same thing?
>>96851149Imagine paying for this, looking at this, carrying this around in your deck, playing this for all others to see, without any sense of shame or embarrassment.
>>96849656>set rotation makes your cards worthless paperThis is just blatantly false these days, and part of the reason why is that standard has taken a backseat to other formats. Cards rotating out of standard has had very little impact on their price, and I'd go as far as to say that mtg cards keep the most value out of all card games.
I have given some thought to playing Yugioh, can someone pitch me what a good match looks like? Cause from what I see on youtube probably isn't a good representation.

>>96858438https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VDycPOJFVQAlso, you might want to consider Genesys if you want to give the game a try. It's a new format that uses a point-based system in place of a banlist, which helps wrangle the game a lot without forcing you back to stone age formats. It also gets monthly updates to the list, which will keep a clearly-defined meta from forming.
>>96860476Also, here's a fun game for this video: spend 5 minutes watching the video, take a guess at which deck will win, then watch the rest of the match.
>>96846982Mechanically MtG is the better game, you have no other card game with as much depth and deckbuilding option. But since wizard went full retard and decided to turn it into the fortnite of card game the only way I would recomand playing it is to proxy the cards and make a cube.
>>96847069This desu. But Edison format in YGO is kino. I prefer FAB regardless
>>96847069I mean, the current state of the game can either be Advanced format, where in the most recent banlist they decided to kill a bunch of unfun floodgates that were resulting in non-games, or Genesys format, where people have minimal gripes with it since it does its job and wrangles the game by a hell of a lot and enables people to play some of their older (albeit not ancient) decks. We have a format that insulates people from the worst of the meta, Konami actually paying attention and listening to the community, and the guys handling Genesys being fully (or at least mostly) transparent with their actions in regards to the point list. I would say they're pretty well-off.
I don't know about Yugioh but magic is so fucking unfair. Remove blue from the game
>>96860691Every deck is a little red and a little blue. We have a very direct parallel to blue decks in the form of the Runick archetype, since that's a control deck that likes to exile its opponent's deck with instant speed effects, but other than that it's "a little bit of swarming, a little bit of control" with things leaning one way or another on a deck-by-deck basis. Our Extra Deck (which I'm told is like a 15 card commander zone where you can bring the monsters out as long as their summoning conditions are met) bridges that functionality to an extent as well. And like, make no mistake. Things get homogenized to an extent when you're talking about high meta, but there's a hell of a lot of diversity for everything beneath that. Some decks like to coombo off, some like slower and more methodical control-based setups, some go for beatdown, and THANKFULLY a lot of the hitler-coded stun decks are going out of the game entirely since their cards can easily be abused by all of the above.
