>>96862352>TQ (Genesys)The list minorly inconvenienced me. Albion, Upstart Goblin, and Granguignol getting point bumps meant that I couldn't run 3 copies of Pot of Greed anymore. I swapped them out for Dracotail Faimena digitally, but Faimena is a $15 card, so I won't be getting the replacements for a while.
>>96862550I was about to ask why you're not running at least 1 aleister if you have fusion deployment, but apparently aleister only searches on normal and flip summon. Not that i ever special summoned the dude, but i didn't remember this specific detail.
>>96862567Fusion Deployment is for Cartesia. The reason there's Invoked stuff in the extra deck is because they're substitute targets for Swamp King. My current list (rightfully) cuts Raidjin (it's a holdover from my Virtual World shenanigans, keep people on their toes) in favor of Lubellion, so as far as those targets go it's like>Millennium-Eyes > Albion = Lubellion = The Dark Magicians > MechabaMechaba has come up a handful of times during testing. But only a handful of times.
>>96862613(to put it more clearly since I forgot that part), Mechaba is the lowest priority and I don't really consider summoning him unless I have dilly-dally on the board. If Mechaba were more integral to my gameplan, I would include a copy of Aleister since there's fusion effects for days here.
>>96862550>Upstart Goblin,Honestly not the biggest hit, it doesn't really provide much but deck thinning.I would just drop them for more engine and maybe a handtrap.
>>96862631I keep them around for Vice Madame's effect. Realistically it triggers one or maybe two of them, hypothetically it's all 3. With Pot of Greed that was consistently all of them, but I swapped those out for Faimena since she costs less and enables T0 Vice Madame with a good draw. I'm not opposed to making space for handtraps though. If I cut out Upstart and Lubellion from my current build then I have 27 points for that. Albion needs to stay though, because in certain situations (in situations where I get unholy bricks), I can use it and a Schmietta/Pittore as fodder for Chorozo so that I can get a few spells into rotation. I don't need 3 whole copies of Chorozo for it, it's extra deck filler until I find a better replacement.
>>96862539Nice try Traptrix player, but 17 is already legal in a good part of the world. And she is a looker in the timeskip. And Black Rose Dragon is a kickass ace card. It's still funny how much support the archetype got, and how little Yusei's own Junk got
>>96862213Specifically Final Fantasy did well but spiderslop is a flop. Sales are one thing, which scalpers and pretender-vendors were trying to emulate FF's success, but community feeling is at an all time low and the trust in WOTC is eroded pretty badly. To give you an idea of how things are going.>WOTC puts out a blog post about how they want to change a ruling in EDH/commander related to hybrid mana and how it interacts with deck building. (TLDR hydrid mana is considered an AND rather than OR when it came to what deck colors you needed to be on in order to play such cards with hybrid mana, the change want to flip that to OR)>Community is up in arms about it>Most arguements boil down to "I don't trust WOTC to manage the game right now, they keep fucking it up. Don't touch anything."IMO the change is pretty harmless and wouldn't be bad unless the card designers, not anyone else, went full retard. But players are so desperate for a way to voice their distrust and displeasure with the game that they're using it as a platform to express it by any means necessary.Separate to that people are really not happy about the volume of products they're shoving down the throats of the consumer. 7 core sets a year, 4 of which are external IPs. People not liking the themes, like the magical world of New York City TM being visited twice in less than a year. The constant lies and walkbacks. Them releasing a survery and asking you if content creators made you feel negative about the set and to fucking list them (likely so they can sent the pinkertons to "convince" them to be a bit more positive.) and if you didn't answer how they wanted you to it booted you from the survery early.
>>96862772>Specifically Final Fantasy did wellI have to cover this.FIN was 100% tourists. We have good records of tournament attendance and online player numbers for MTG, and the numbers boots from FIN all went back down to pre-FIN levels, and are now even lower than before lmao.
>>96862772>IMO the change is pretty harmlessIn addition:My response to this would be, it does not matter if the change is harmless. The decades-old rulesset posed no problems. Changing it is pointless, even if the change does "no damage".The whole mentality of "If it isn't broken, fix it until it is." ruins a LOT of things.
>>96862771Junk doesn't need support, at the time Yusei's deck was the first deck owned by a protagonist that was actually playable and not a billion bricks and 2 card combos with no searchers.
Genesys should assign negative point values to cards like Pot of Generosity and The Gift of Greed. I don't mean substantially subtractions to your overall points, just enough to slightly offset your deck's totals so you can run a few 100 point cards, alongside maybe one or two extremely-low-value cards.
>>96863075interesting design space
>>96862890Not trying to get too off topic.Hybrid mana is intended to be an OR, not AND with how the cards function in the color pie. How it's applied in commander is actually inconsistent with the intent of the card design so it is a fix in that logic. You're being told that's how it works without questioning why should it be that way. A 5 monkey experiment situation.>But that's how it was made a decade agoNot every change needs to adhere to an outdated design choice, else we would be still playing with D part of EDH. The format is allowed to change with time. If the format truely suffers from it they have the ability to roll it back too. I also doubt this is going to break the format, people haven't really been bitching about color pie adherence from design for a long time so I dont see a real reason why they would start doubting the designers now.
>>96863311>Hybrid mana is intended to be an OR, not AND with how the cards function in the color pie. How it's applied in commander is actually inconsistent with the intent of the card design so it is a fix in that logic. You're being told that's how it works without questioning why should it be that way. A 5 monkey experiment situation.I get it, but that's not how Commander was designed. Commander specifically implemented identity, which factors in both color and visible pips, meaning that hybrid cards are both identities. Saying hybrid should be an OR is like saying a hybrid creature should dodge protection from only one of its colors. It's just not how the game works. Hybrid cards are both colors. The COST allows for easier casting, but as Commander identity is based on color, and a hybrid card is both colors, it makes zero sense to allow their inclusion. Identity is one of the core features of the Commander rules. Play a different format if you don't want to have to consider it.Bui anyways yes, wrong threat.
>>96863075That would only serve to enable FTKs and other things boxed out by the 101 point combination. Even if you run 8 main deck cards that are bad enough for negative point values, that will only end up with a 1/5 card average dead draw.Hell, Generosity could even end up valued if you are dealing with a deck using Mystic Mine for Stall-based Milling.

>>96863327I don't want to argue the point here because obviously this is not the place for it and we're at an impasse of a personal choice of which philosophy you want to subscribe to, one set by a literal dead guy 10 years ago or one that's in charge of designing the entire game today.I would like to pick one unrelated sentence though.>Play a different format if you don't want to have to consider it.You don't get much of a choice. Commander is THE format and everything else is dead in paper. Good fucking luck finding standard and modern, let alone be populated to make it enjoyable or be an enjoyable format cardpool. Best you're getting is Limited like draft but even that is dead because pick-2-draft is somehow not popular (I don't understand why, but c'est la vie) and nobody wants to touch these dogshit UB products. It's kind of the problem ygo had about 2 months ago where if you weren't into playing Advanced then you're basically homeless.Sure there's a bunch of fan formats that exist but that doesn't mean any LGS is actually hosting them.

>>96864470>You don't get much of a choice. Commander is THE format and everything else is dead in paper.See, that's a problem and suggests how poorly the game is managed. It's the whole system of failures. You should have other formats to play if you don't think color identity is reasonable, but now you don't because they've all been butchered. And since you don't, the idea of deleting the game's rules and breaking color identity starts coming into consideration. Then you break those rules, and the people who got into EDH partly because the deckbuilding restrictions were interesting start losing their will to play too. These are the kinds of changes that cull players who actually like the game. The more of these kinds of changes you make, the more your playerbase's love for the game gets strangled. By chopping apart entrenched systems, you terrorize people who care deeply about the game, until all you're left with is players who kind of just play because it's something to do and some people they know do it.People who love the game, leave the game when you ruin what they love about it. Nobody new joins the game because you did, "We refactored this 25 year old legacy system!" is not something you can advertise to new players.>It's kind of the problem ygo had about 2 months ago where if you weren't into playing Advanced then you're basically homeless.Man, I honestly love Genesys and am so glad my LGS has already picked it up. The people managing the format seem dead set on keeping it actually, properly maintained.
>>96864394I don't think Artmage is at the point where it's good enough to get hit yet, unless you're talking specifically about Genesys in which case I'd agree. I think the deck is just obnoxious and don't like playing against them personally. Not broken, not overpowered, just obnoxious as hell.
>>96865150I should've clarified that I'm only talking about Genesys
>>96865433Yeah then in that case, I'll definitely agree that some slightly stronger hits would be nice. Nerva should be 10 points given that its field wipe effect is a soft OPT, and the field spell should be worth *at least* 10 or 15 for the sheer amount of legwork it does for the deck. You could also make an argument for Alteration since that either gives you access to the field spell or perform a search, but I don't think it'd be necessary if Arcopolis has a decently high point value.Mostly unrelated, but Fire King Jurrac has been giving me trouble in the format and I didn't think those are words I'd ever utter before Genesys. Being able to spam a non-OPT field wipe three times in a row is nuts. I'm the witchcrafterfag (not the verrefag, different guy) that posted earlier and I make a point to get Bystreet up and Holiday's effect spammable whenever I see them. I suppose the combination of Astero+Meteor put the fear of soft/non-OPT field nukes into my heart, which is why I'm more open to bumping Nerva's points up.
After messing around with it a bit in YGO Omega, I'm considering picking up my Synchro Odion deck in paper.
>>96864314What the hell is this deck even? Cydra literally just got the few missing pieces it needed to not die after a single ash blossom and/or when made to go first.Wurm and jormungardr made the deck rely more on the cyberdark cards, which let you set up regulus (omni negate) before the 5th summon, and s:p on exactly the 5th. Going first it also sets up infinity and heosvarog (spell/trap negate), but going second it still has the muscle needed to OTK, the deck is incredibly versatile now.You wouldn't be missing a lot of URs to get a full power deck (except for the staples i guess), so look up a list on mdm/ygoprodeck or even youtube to understand how the deck works.

>>96868635A particularly strong Rank 4 engine came out (Ryzeal) that could bring out multiple copies of the guy and handrip you. King of the Feral Imps got hit for a similar reason, except instead it's because a particularly strong Ritual archetype (Mitsurugi) came out that you can run in the aforementioned Rank 4 engine. A long-standing rule with this game is that things aren't broken, until suddenly they are.

>>96869278Not if you read the manga instead, which in a lot of ways is better than the anime but is in some ways worse.>>96868971Putting aside how fucking weird you are; They recently launched Genesys format, which is designed to be a casual format that takes Pendulum and Link Monsters out of the game while letting you run with the most up-to-date decks. Link Monsters had a good reason for being removed since it makes it difficult to assess point values for both themselves and the things they enable, but there wasn't a good reason to remove pends at all. Angry yugiboomers don't like it when you point it out, but the thing that wrangles the format is the point system rather than the removal of pendulum and link monsters. Pends are totally irrelevant in the current game, and while Link Monsters are prevalent in the game, they do not completely dominate it like they do in the heads of people that don't play the game. Like hell, the top archetype in the game is currently a Fusion archetype, and before that the most dominant decks were a Ritual/Xyz deck that minimally utilized Link monsters, and a Main Deck/Xyz deck that has exactly 1 Link Monster. All of them (Mitsurugi, Ryzeal, K9, and Vanquish Soul) had to get slaughtered on Genesys' point list because they were simply performing too well on their own.

So I’m the one from the last thread who hasn’t been into Yu-Gi-Oh for 20 years. My LOB 25th Anniversary booster box came today. Already made my money back. Got a rare 7-holo box. Didn’t get Blue Eyes or Dark Magician like I’d hoped, but I didn’t do too bad. Think I’m gonna stick to collecting the 25th Anniversary reprints. The modern cards… idk. Way too many holos (kinda defeats the purpose of making non-rare cards holos), the cards are too powerful, and there’s just other various weird shit. Think I’ll just stick to playing and collecting pre-2005 era stuff.

>The only duelist in the entire series with a 100% winrate.KNEEL.
>>96877712Depends if I know the other person is an asshole and is going to bring something extremely gay like an FTK or deepdraw deck. I'm down to play no banlist if they want to play something like isolde in a noble knight deck but if they're going to bring an FTK/handloop INK deck then we're gonna have to talk.I see the ban list as more of a suspect list in a kitchen table format. I'm cool to play with F/L cards at increased amounts but you have to kind of explain yourself to justify it before the game or if the card is becoming a problem we talk about how it's skewing games too much after playing with it.>Post game>"Hey can we talk about X card, I'm near entirely good with playing without the TCG ban list but I think X card is really making games lopsided. It is one of the cards on the ban list normally so it is a recognized problem card not just by us. Maybe it's too much, in this deck, for what we're playing."If you're all too autistic and can't handle having such a conversation and nuance then just make it easy on all of yourselves and play by the ban list so it's no fuss.
>>96877712>high school library tierThe answer is "yes" because those will be people that are competent enough to comprehend basic stuff about the game and pay attention to what goes on with the meta to an extent. In that setting, with the idea in mind that they're just getting together to play the game casually and aren't competing against other clubs, I would suggest treating the banlist as more of a suggestion instead of strictly enforcing it. Though I will say that this would probably invite unwanted chaos when you decide that something that one of your players just fucking sucks and was rightfully banned. You could just use Genesys format and go for a higher point cap so that you get to throttle the little bastards without having to explicitly say that this or that can or cannot be played. It was kind of designed for that sort of thing. The only catch is that there's no Link Monsters so you might have to tolerate one or two people bitching and moaning about that, but that's not a huge loss.
