So these Golden Daemon contestants have to be legitimately trained artists or something, right? No way you just paint like this without some background.

Thata generally how its always been. I hope you’re not suggesting legitimately trained artists should be banned from art competitions.
>>
>>96863944
They should. Golden daemon should be for the hobbyists and not failures that went to art school.
>>
>>96863952
So you think that people who go to school (academics) end up more qualified in their field of study than people who do not?

May we test your consistency on this belief? What do you think of climate change, covid-19, and the nature of gender?
>>
>>96863961
Warhammer is for everyone mate. Allowing people who had the money and parental backing to go to art school compete is structural racism against the hobbyist.
>>
>>96863793
they're also the 1% who can paint like that

Please take your meds

Golden Demon has definitely evolved though.

>>96863973
Hobbyist is a choice, unlike race, gender, or sexuality. Often a poor choice.
>>
>>96864021
This. No one chooses to be black, or molested.
>>
>>96863793
The guy who painted this is working in engineering. Not an artist and doesn't even paint professionally.
>>
>>96864131
What this guy isn't telling you is that the artist engineers COLORS

God, I wish that was true.

That is extremely clever I love it

>>
>>96863952
What if someone is both?
>>
>>96864177
Where did he get the reversed parts? Sculpted from scratch?
>>
Warhammer looks best when the paintjob is kind of shitty. It feels weird seeing people doing the amazing work you normally see on busts of napoleon or whatever, but it's on a hokey spaceman. Warhammer should have heavy ink washes and messy metallic drybrushing and you really should work on something more fitting if you're gonna put loads of effort in.

The base/terrain is 3d printed but the character is converted manually.
>>
>>96870992
he built one side, scanned it, and then printed it flipped
or most likely worked on everything digitally and then printed it already together

gw outlawed prints of scanned official miniatures after this

prints of stuff you sculpt yourself is fine
>>
>>96865932
>y-y-you get better pictures with a professional camera and light setup than with a phone at your work desk??? AAAAIIIEEEE I'M GOING INSANE!!
>>
>>96870992
>>96871390
Wouldn't be too hard to make the empty armor by just cutting away the head and hands and probably filling some gaps. More expensive though with having to buy two models.
>>
>>96871439
Better? The oversaturated colors and overexposure which blows out all the detail on the skin highlights? I suppose they appeal to the instagram brained.
>>
>>96863793
Did you know that you can just learn to do things?
>>
>>96863952
Harrison Bergeron was not an instruction manual. Excellence should impel you to greater effort, not jealous destruction.
>>
>>96871510

Yea you tell them anon! You sure are the master painter just waiting to be discovered!
>>

Got some minis we can see?
>>

Hello?
>>
>>96864086
I don't, some people definitely go out of their way to get molested.
Also wiggers. Or that guy, whom recently I couldn't find a picture of; he had a droopy eye, looked Jewish, bald, and cosplayed as a black guy.

Wtf do you even study to make nice dioramas?
Architecture?
Obscure art majors?
Community college painting, photography, and history classes?
Some sort of apprenticeship or trade?
Be born with super autism?

>>96872747
Read tutorials and (more importantly) practice
>>
>>96872943
Makes sense
It's probably too niche
Can't imagine it being used anywhere outside of museums and commissions/content creator bs

While I appreciate the skill put into Golden Daemon, I see there is a worrying increase in homogeneity of technique which is starting to water down the overall competition.
>>
>>96864177
Check'd and cool shit!
>>
>>96871461
Well you won't be winning anytime soon.
That doesn't give you the mirror image.
>>
>>96873075
But don't you love NMM anon? Surely you appreciate how good it looks in photos from one angle. It's not like you would want to actually ever play with any of these figures, right?

I'm salty mostly because I can't work NMM yet.
>>
>>96873075
Yeah all the NMM at the euro competition looked like shit.
>>
>>96873075
I'm not really interested in most of the Golden Daemon winners these days because they look almost like digital paintings or 3D renders; I'm sure a mind-boggling amount of time, skill, and effort goes into achieving that effect but the end result just looks kind of bland to me.
