Comissioned an artist to help upgrade the visuals of Elemental (first card design and other UI stuff and eventually all the card art). Currently, have this as one variant of a polished design, but still room to iterate. Will post a few things and please let me know what you guys think. This is for a digital card game, so cards need not be a realistic shape.P.S. Cost thingy at top left will not be drawn once a card is purchased.
And now some hacked variants to explore further
And a few more.
>>96872020I like this one the most.>>96872033Then 2, 1, 3 and 4 at the sorry end.
>>96872114Thanks.Don't you find the balls awkward, I'm trying to figure out away to keep some contrast between the image frame while getting rid of them.
And one more variation on>>96872189which is just an improved version of 1 from>>96872033
>>96872208I like the balls, they remind me of the bars actual banners are hanged on.If you want to get rid of them... Pick 1 or 3 on >>96872033.4 and OP version wastes too much space where text or artwork could go.>>96872189This is nice too.>>96872242Card type needs more embellishment here, but the idea of moving it downwards isn't bad.
there is this simpler option too
>>96872033First time looking at any of this despite scrolling past the thread several times, so forgive me if I retread ground made mention of in previous threads. I'm going to set aside the rules text itself since I know basically nothing about the gameplay beyond what I can glean from the text on this one card.>text boxI like the idea for the "scroll" to sort of be spilling out of the frame like it's been draped over the border for the art. I'm wondering if you could find a way to incorporate the type line more cleanly, sort of like >>96872242 this one, but with in a way that makes it pop more. I prefer the type being at the top of the text box, but maybe you could try offsetting it to the left with a bit of typographical flair like pic related to make it feel more like the opening to a ye olde document.>the borderI think it's good to have one, but to keep it thin so the art has room to breathe. 2 and 3, without the frame, make the art look like something stretched out on a canvas, which is an interesting visual design, but I think a minor border along the edge would help the card feel more "complete." >headerHow expansive do you plan on making card names? This card's name is only two words, so it's easy to fit, but do you expect to have longer names? A more standardized font size will help the cards look cleaner, so you might consider whether you'll need to allow for multiple lines for names/titles or if you're just going to adjust font size per-card.
>>96872948Thanks for the feedback.A few more simplified options we're looking at.BTW: here is a link to the game, in case someone wants to check it out: https://indjev99.itch.io/elemental

>>96873303>>96873519Looks like I have schizophrenia, sorry.
>>96873524Appreciated. I'll give it a look later this evening. In the meantime, happy templating.
>>96872489>I like the ballssay no more
