How did speed painting lose to slapchop?
I have no clue, can you explain the context for me? The only Slapchop I know is the guy who sold the Shamwow (a super absorbent jizz rag).
>>96875324The 2020s speed painting technique was black basecoat, white zenithal, two thin coats, easy edge highlighting (largely blocky shapes, metals), brown and black washes.Slapchop is black basecoast, gray zenithal (largely, sometimes gray and then white), contrast paints on everything (then ideally a smoothing layer on large, flat area because contrast pools badly on regular shapes, but honestly so so so many people skip this), then the speed painting steps on metal only.
i like Hidalgo's complimentary color slapchop method, except for blue.
>>96879565I hadn't heard of this, you base white, zenithal with one color that you're planning to base with the compliment? Why?
Why the fuck did they have to call this shit "slapchop?" What a retarded fucking name.
>>96880213in this example you get shadows and highlights that don't lose color saturation compared to using contrast paint over a black and gray basehttps://youtu.be/_Yj8zUnsxrUhe has a whole series on his channel for different colors.

>>96880213Black and white for highlights and shades are pretty shit really, and make colors look muddy and washed out. Using a complementary color as your shade gives a more natural shadow color
looks pretty childish and shit... so perfect for /tg/
slap chop isnt a thing. its just a basic painting technique thats been promoted by gw for yonks>use washes over a base coatIts also yoinked from chinese factories painting kitsch figures
