The plan can't work in future settings, and demons have no particular advantage over Fae when it comes to turning humans into slaves in the first place. The only reason that the Fae aren't trying the same plan is that their faction lacks the knowledge that it could work.>Patterns can twist time at 5 dots.Dawn can also twist time at 5 dots, while additionally providing healing, weather control, divination, control of elemental earth, fate control, and animal/plant based transformations.>Paths can twist the destination, gravity, direction and flow of timeDusk can also twist space, while also having control over spirits, air elementalism, mind reading, post-cognition, and animal/plant transformations again.>I would argue all of that is on par with a castle-melting sunbeam relative to it’s nicheIn addition to doing the same thing (or better) and cheaper, Fae Unleashing is easier to learn because it's all in exactly four Dominions instead of spread between dozens of Lores.>Which means that by your same logic about Fae no longer being in danger of Sunderings after the jumpFae Jumpers don't need to fear Banality in other settings because basic Jumpchain mechanics grant them a super buff version of the Changeling Way. Instead of a watered down form that's not as vulnerable to Banality but weaker, they can change from Banality-immune humans to full powered Fae at will.(1/2)
>>96884258>I am taking the position that Banality is a weird in-universe thing much like the Consensus/ParadoxA better reading is that the Mists/Dreaming are an in-universe force and Banality is the mere lack of these things. Fae are born from the power of human dreams, and die from the lack of this energy. Since humans in all future settings can't generate a Dreaming, Fae ought to constantly be suffering from the worst of Endless Winter in nearly all other settings. But the basic Jumpchain conceit of powers continuing to work like in their home world says, no, the Fae can continue to exist as though mortal dreams were continuing to shape their own layer of reality and only in situations where even that wouldn't sustain them are they in trouble.

>>96884258>Because regular humans are magesIrrelevant. My point based on your rationale for making fae cost that much is that it's very cheap to buy your own supply of oWoD humans from the jump itself, 50 CP apiece. Also clarification: It doesn't have to be a mage at all, Demon the Fallen and Days of Fire's lore states that the True Faith of regular humans alone is sufficient to sustain universe-rewriting power. Potentially.>Dawn can also twist time at 5 dots, while additionally providing healing, weather control, divination, control of elemental earth, fate control, and animal/plant based transformations.Everything you said after "twisting" time is both already covered by Lores so I'm not sure what point you're making here. Come on. Animal/plant transformations? Honestly control over spirits is the most compelling thing you brought up there.>Fae Unleashing is easier to learnOh, that's actually a valid point.>Fae Jumpers don't need to fear Banality in other settingsInterpretations of Banality aside this just makes the existence of the 100 CP perk even more questionable under your reasoning. To be clear, are you or are you not taking the stance that the 100 CP perk is the entire justification for making fae cost 600 CP? >>96884275By your own logic, what is the issue with handwaving the necessity of buffing Fae to this degree by simply swapping into a human altform until one arrives at Neverland or some other setting that can sustain whimsy? The basic conceit doesn't cover any and all complex power interaction, and when the fall in power is as drastic as going from Fae to Changeling it's perplexing to justify the jump's internal pricing with events this far afield.
>>96884258To be clear, while I still disagree with you on the validity of how the jump is balanced and the nature of Banality (I could go on for ages about the emergence of THREAT NULL, oWoD's status as a shared setting, and the implications that /absence of whimsy can in fact be a discrete force unto itself/ via Mage metaphysics. But that is clearly a separate discussion not useful for evaluating the jump), I do accept the logic of the 600 CP pricing specifically because of Fae Unleashing being easier to learn compared to mage/demon powers in addition to the energy efficiency, I was just initially unimpressed by the scope of power you described even if it's more than free.
>>96884377>Also clarification: It doesn't have to be a mage at all, Demon the Fallen and Days of Fire's lore states that the True Faith of regular humans alone is sufficient to sustain universe-rewriting power. Potentially.NTA, but Sleepers are still reality warpers, just very weak subconscious ones. Presumably True Faith works because of that too.
>>96884423Yes, I'm aware of the first bit-but the thing about the last bit is...more complicated, going by Demon lore. True Faith IS the potential for supreme divine power, the demons simply wanted to redirect it towards themselves instead of God so God could be dethroned. oWoD Mage magic is actually implied to be an accident involving the remnant of angel/God pieces and that same power being misused, although Demon lore does lightly imply at one point it was part of Lucifer's overall plan.
>>96884377>My point based on your rationale for making fae cost that much is that it's very cheap to buy your own supply of oWoD humans from the jump itself, 50 CP apiece. Not discounted to demons. Fae are just as good at controlling the ones you buy. >True Faith of regular humans alone is sufficient to sustain universe-rewriting power.Yeah, that's what consensus reality is, and it forms because humans are all mages, just un-awakened.>To be clear, are you or are you not taking the stance that the 100 CP perk is the entire justification for making fae cost 600 CP? Banality can kill Fae. So the first time you took your Fae alt-form in each new setting, you'd essentially be playing Russian roulette. The 100 CP perk covers this probably unlikely but immediately chain-ending issue which would otherwise make the alt form something it would never be worth the risk of using.>what is the issue with handwaving the necessity of buffing Fae to this degree by simply swapping into a human altform until one arrives at Neverland or some other setting that can sustain whimsy?Jumpchain is about taking stuff from one setting on adventures in others. If you can only use something in like 10 other settings ever, it's reasonable to see if there's some way to allow it. Compare to the Attack on Titan jump, where some percentage of humanity in future jumps counts as descendants of Ymir because otherwise the Founder Titan's exclusive power doesn't work. This is especially important when the issues isn't "the power has nothing to target" but "the power potentially kills you for trying to use it".
>>96884436Fair enough, I'm not too well versed on Demon lore.
>>96883898That causes you to become Kris's SOUL, none of the other characters are allowed. I'm also not allowed to become characters like Berdly or Ralsei outright.
>>96884468>Not discounted to demons. Fae are just as good at controlling the ones you buy.To be clear I wasn't insinuating they should be or that a discount would be materially relevant, just that the base price for normal OC companions is low enough that following your line of conflict demons are at significant comparative advantage because humans are a valuable resource in oWoD but a cheap commodity in Jumpchain. More to the point there's never been any evidence, to my knowledge, that the Fae have any way of getting nearly as much mojo out of a human soul.>because humans are all magesUnder the mythology posited by demons the first half is true but the second isn't, with mages being an aberration as mentioned above but humans nonetheless shaping and defining concepts through their comprehension and latent divine power. It definitely comes across as a case of clumsy writing given I'd agree everything outside Demon lore would suggest consensus reality and the potential for awakening is innately human though.>probably unlikely but immediately chain-ending issueNoted. I'm personally of the opinion Banality isn't necessarily that lethal depending on interpretation of how it actually works and whether mundane sentient beings' creativity interacts with it or not, but that's a separate and longer conversation. >to see if there's some way to allow it>Compare to the Attack on Titan jumpFair enough. Seems less unreasonable from that perspective. Though as I myself am unfamiliar with Dominions and Fae mechanics, honestly just knowing how easy Unleashing is to learn is enough.

It was an average day in /jc/. STACYGODORT's unparalled scholars were inventing new memes, angering subhumans and influencing the entire site, as usual. Suddenly, a foul, unfathomably putrid stench permeated the halls. A TacomunchingTardhanmoeRAT and its Taco Troop had begun to invade, relentlessly spamming m*eshit and falseflagging to seemingly no end. The entire thread's quality was being brought the FUCK down by these immeasurably pathetic outcast rodents. But then..."ENOUGH.", a STACYGODDESSLADYORTKUscholar thundered, with her deep, bassy contralto voice. The parasitic mice's beady little eyes widened. A STACYARKchad warden was about to fuck their moeshitting asses up! Naturally, they all shat their diapers in unison."N-Not f-f-funny...", a Brownhanrat murmured, as it dug through it moeshit folder to find more falseflagging material. And then, the intimidating GIGAGODDESSLADYrenSCHOLARCHAD approached the rodent pack, with each of her mighty steps quaking the halls. The TYPEgreenscholar extended her muscular, porcelain-colored tetancle, expanded her MASSIVE claw, and grabbed the SHIThanrodent by its pathetic neck, and in and instant, snapped it in twain."AIIIIIIIIIIEEEE!!" squealed the remaining vermin. "G-GOHANGOHANGOHAN" the parrots squawked. The Jobhanrats tried to escape, vacate, abscond, vamoose, run away, bolt, make way. They tried to FLEE, but it was no use. Justice was about to be rained upon them. With his light-surpassing speed and ORT-like strength, the ORTORTORTORTstacy completely, totally and utterly TROUNCED those moehanshitters into oblivion. The remaining Spickhanhermanos fled back to their catalog, into the myriad of p*doshit threads to fap their embarrassment away. The common rabble who bore witness to this event fell to their knees, once again reminded of their place in these halls.ORT won.

I had a weird dream that I blame jumpchain for.I was the last master of humanity in FGO. We came under attack by the Nasuverse version of the forces of Walt Disney. Disney Princesses were charming my men. The Genie was a fucker. Things looked like they were turning when Aladdin showed up and revealed he had been summoned by Chaldea. I made an impassioned plea to the house of mouse explaining we were fighting for humanity including the same children than had loved them for generations but then most of my forces began to fade because we were using too much juice. Then the Genie burst in to song and the dream sort of ended. I am guessing had it continued the Nasuverse version of the Warner Brothers characters would have showed up to save my ass.

What's the *worst* perk you've ever seen in a Jump?

Hi so im new to this jumpchaining thingWhy do people choose to jump to one universe instead of jumping to a multiverse?
>>96884926Nah, I think you just got the bad ending from wrong dialogue choices.
>>96885024Because making a jump for one setting is already work enough, imagine one for heaps of them.
>>96885025Very possible. I tried though.
>>96885024What do you mean, exactly?
>>96885024I'll try and field this as best I can if I understand your question the way I think I do. We had jumps that tried to do something like that. They covered an entire franchise and what would happen was the choices were so watered down that the flavor of the options was lost. It may as well have been Generic "Franchise" Jump. Also taking it with the random starting location in this way locking you in to one part of the franchise locks you out of the rest. It just doesn't work well. It's better to focus on each universe as a singular aspect than to try and cover and entire multiverse/franchise. I hope that answers the question.
>>96885037A Jump from what I understand is basically a narrative setting frameworkWhat if I want my narrative setting to have a multiverse within it? to combine let's say Kung Fu Panda and Shrek under Dreamworks or Ben 10 and KND under Cartoon Network>>96885065I see
Hmm. Do I accept the rolls I got and be a very young magical girl with wind powers and a skimpy costume, or do I go for being Smug to have a minmaxed build that'll let me tank autocannon fire?
>>96885075Like the other guy said that's a lot of work. People do sometimes "combine" settings by taking two or more jumps at the same time and going to a setting that's like a fusion of all the other jumps
>>96885086Smug is always fun. What jump?
>>96885127>What jump?Whoops. I didn't notice this was the Jumpchain thread. I'm actually making an Accidental Magical Girl build, and rolled being a seven year old with the wind specialization and a skimpy costume
>>96885137>Accidental Magical GirlFunny, I think the idea of making a jump for that’s been thrown around. Also if the path of Smug is what speaks to you, then you should go for it.
>>96885170It's honestly really hard to decide. On the one hand, I can actually have a girl with 26 agility. On other hand, being a girl who can just wade into a fight and either tank or recover from any damage she takes is really appealing.

It was an odd ability, but I don't think it (the ability to accept your own death and its consequences of ceasing to exist in the mortal coil) really has a place in any CYOA, especially one where the primary loss state you're trying to avert (being rendered medically if not literally deceased) is the thing the perk was made for facilitating the emotional ease of. That said, it's paradoxically a good thing the perk exists since that then opens up the ability to use it as a combo piece for something more practical, or even give it to a companion as a bit of tongue in cheek humor since they're unlikely to die that decisively once they're in jumper's group.>captcha: pass42Huh...

>>96889609>the Moon princess companion thats in vals jump.I certainly understand the high price, but I will always find it odd that becoming an Otsutsuki costs 2100 CP, but companioning one costs 200.
>>96889646I always see it as sort of the idea that non direct power a Jumper has is a bit cheaper. It's why you can get potentially six companions with 600 points of there own for 300 points you might otherwise spend as yourself.Though I admit I do wish the Otsutsuki option on naruto was just a little less painful. It makes the jump pretty much suffering even with the power it gives.

Something that trivialises the conflict to a degree it would not normally be offered at all, but for one simple reason: An entity/force/anti-being or other major actor or phenomena in the setting exists that poses a significant and meaningful threat to the Jumper’s continued existence within the scope of the default setting’s experience. I look at 1200 perks like this: If I’m even considering offering one, it’s because there are things in the setting that can threaten you with death or worse even with it equipped.I would have made being an Otsutsuki 1400/1600 CP. You’re very powerful, yes, but with just that you’re still a beginner, and it’s not like you’re the only Otsutsuki out there.
>>96889747>the default setting’s experience. You’re very powerful, yes, but with just that you’re still a beginner, and it’s not like you’re the only Otsutsuki out there. That'd make sense to me a bit. The Jump sorta treats being one as basically having all the major bloodlines. But thats not inherently a Otsusuki thing is it? I know the bloodlines all stem from Kaguya originally but not all of them are as powerful as she was.
>>96889765Adding onto it a bit with another thought but Otsusuki almost feel like a potential Drop in capstone to me in a way. If there was one was. Both being outsiders to the world by nature.

>>96889774Yeah, it’d be like the Soul Princess perk in their Bleach jump. >>96890169I think some people have a problem with the singing, plot holes and the fact that every person is bisexual and doesn't care about who or what their partner is, as according to Rebecca. That mindset just doesn't track with many people.
>>96891193What plot holes, honestly?
>>96891216A lot of fan claim the big ending was going to be something but just ended with Steven calling White a child and the entire war and such ended like that. Just being called a child broke the big bad enough to give up everything. That was a shitty ending. One thing I found stupid was that this one single Rose Quartz could heal, but no ones of her kind could. But it is the same healing powers as Pink Diamond, but no one every put those pieces together. Not such a plot hole, but how Rebecca kept getting upset because people guessed Rose was Pink all along, years before it was suppose to be a shocking reveal. Personally, I didn't like all the long breaks between episodes. I know it was a funding thing, but when I show might release a few episodes a year and then tell you to wait two more or so, it just kills all momentum in the show.
>>96891216Why is Steven letting the Diamonds live?
>>96891259Because he heard them sing a song and that fixes everything. Only those that cannot sing will die.
>>96891255Well none of that is a plothole, just an ending you didn't like.>>96891259He really just can't. He's not capable of doing so.
>>96891259How exactly is he supposed to do that when he lost in a straight fight against White? He swayed her to his side but if he tries to kill her she'll obviously dogwalk him just like she did before, duh.
>>96891259What exactly is the point of killing them?
>>96891277Here are two plot holes that stand out. 1. Pearl was hand given to Pink Diamond by the others, but they could not recognize her at all. That should be a big red flag that the special Pearl is now following the same pink hued other person the same way as her diamond. 2. Rose Quartz sounds just like Pink Diamond, but not like the other natural Rose Quartz.
>>96891323>Pearl was hand given to Pink Diamond by the others, but they could not recognize her at all. That should be a big red flag that the special Pearl is now following the same pink hued other person the same way as her diamond. The conclusion that follows from Pink's special Pearl (who i doubt they ever paid much attention to) joining with Rose is "fucking hell a pearl turned rebel. disgusting." not "that's Pink">Rose Quartz sounds just like Pink Diamond, but not like the other natural Rose Quartz. Some gems are just defective and don't match their type. Amethyst is radically different from the rest of her kin since she was overcooked, we see a Ruby with an eye-gem, Rose Quartz not sounding like her kind naturally do is a completely forgivable thing to happen and it's not like the other Diamonds were having regular debates with Quartz footsoldiers where they could make the comparisons or even think about such a minute detail like Rose (who they weren't having longform conversations with either) having a different voice then the rest.
>>96891320The point is they are monsters that constantly destroy organic planets to spread more. And Steven is Al about no hurting anyone.
>>96891323>Pearl was hand given to Pink Diamond by the others, but they could not recognize her at all.Why would you expect them to recognize a servant they've seen like once? Especially when Pearl isn't even the first Pearl that Pink Diamond had.
>Not a furry>Don't have a foot fetish>Still wanna make people lick my toe beans.... How the fuck do you develop a specific subfetish without developing the fetishes associated with it?
>>96891369They don't have to do that- they stopped. The whole part where its their shitty gay Von Neumann machine roleplay society is pretty well belabored. They have no actual need for further resources, they're immortal inorganic lifeforms that just expand indefinitely for the sake of expanding indefinitely, so if they're told to stop they're perfectly capable of doing so. All inequality comes from mistreatment in interpersonal interactions in their LARP of a society rather than from actual material unequal distribution of resources- which is part of why the show fantasy of friendship and forgiveness works at all. There's no real reason for why they do any of that other than that it's just what they are used to doing, so there's no actual practical consequences to grapple with when talking them into doing something else, which is what happened. They're no longer a problem and they're not hurting anyone anymore; if you want them to be destroyed for what they've done this is really just a conflict between the show's ethics and yours.
>>96891379You have a paw fetish.
>>96891379Oh right, I forgot to add >Complete bottomWhich makes the part where I want to make people lick toe beans even weirder.>>96891407... Fair enough, I guess
>>96891416>Complete bottomPowerbottom.
>>96891399Actually I find it's honestly kinda fun how once the gem empire stops doing imperial stuff there's not anything FOR them to do. The Diamonds just stay there bored in their dumb ass palace with all of the gems just sitting around with jack all to do. The gems under Holly White just hang out and do stuff all day while she screams inneffectually at them. They get so stir crazy they might have to get out of their sterile dollhouse and Interact with the World like people now that they're LARPless. It's fun
>>96891453The diamonds actually all start therapy.
>>96891465The problem isn't really something with trauma or anything a therapist can help it's just that they're like the rest of their society, they don't have anything going on now that they've stopped doing imperialism LARP.They don't have anything to do with their lives. They're rocks, they don't need to eat, breathe, they don't even have beds in their palace- all of what they were doing was functionally entirely pointless. All they have to do now is get out of the IKEA showroom that they live on and talk to other people. Build actual relationships with them. Figure out stuff to do with their time. Get into flower scrapbooking or something.

Man both communities are looking pretty shit lately
>>96894334But the path of conquest doesn't actually provide the Gems with any benefits. They're not in need of any resources or in competition with any other empire that they'd need to defend themselves from. It was an entirely pointless path that provided them nothing and brought them no happiness- of course Pink wanted to abandon it. By abandoning it, she was able to live an existance that was happier and more meaningful then any other Diamond's, and ultimately she only fell to her own belief that she was irredeemably evil.
