Looking to update a few things around here. Anyone up for making a new printer matrix spreadsheet? Nothing fancy just screen size/xy size/cost/ect.
>>96889649problem with that is that depending where you live, prices are way different and taxes keep on changing, so only the size, resolution part would be useful.
>>96889649Just tell me what you have, what you want, and I'll tell you what to get That'll be faster and easier
>>96889973Use US as a standard price. It's more to compare than be actual pricing>>96889997It's for the OP. The last one hasnt been updated since... 2022?
Reminder: Only retards and people with AIDS think resin fumes are dangerous.>But Muh MSDSNotoriously exaggerated, for example the MSDS for sand lists the recommendation that you wear nitrile gloves, a mask, and eye protection when handling it. Sand. They are published solely for the purpose of covering the company's ass so anything and everything that could happen with a substance is taken into account. That only some resins have a respiratory irritation caution and the ones that do are category 3 (same as many household cleaners) should put it into perspective. Do you wear a respirator when you mop your floors? Well maybe some AIDS cases do.>But Muh VOCsA lot of stuff has them, like Glade Plugins for example. Resin variety has a lot to do with the volume of VOCS they produce, but of the six varieties tested in the below study the average TVOC was about 586 µg/m3. Glade Plugins are generally between 300 and 600 µg/m3 for a room the size of most print rooms. They do have different VOCs, but neither have any of the truly bad VOCs in large amounts.Source: https://www.mdpi.com/2075-5309/14/11/3343>But Muh Internet Search ResultsUnless you are looking at an actual study with data you are getting people's opinion, often based entirely off of other people's opinion. You can also find articles telling you how gluten is poison and tomatoes cure cancer. Things like ChatGPT and other AI programs just scrape the internet and as a result will often present these opinions as facts. Look into the actual science and studies that have been conducted and review the data.>SummaryResin fumes are no worse than Glade Plug-Ins. There is enough scientific evidence to support that conclusion that is freely available. Anyone who says otherwise is a retard, AIDS case, or some combination of both.
>>96890268fuck off you attention seeking retard
>>96890142>It's for the OP. The last one hasnt been updated since... 2022?Dear god. I just looked at it, retro as fuck. Also the best printer for its price is the Saturn 3 non-Ultra.
>>96890273Never, I am here to stay faggot.
Adrian needs to leave.
How hard will it be to sculpt this guy in blender? Might even just sculpt the basic body then steal some heads and sword arms from thingiverse and copypaste them all over it.
>>96891154
are there any guides for how to repose cavalry mini STLs so they're standing instead of riding?
>>96893052maybe you should read the op before asking dumb questions
>>96890286NTA but I have a Mars 2 Pro and I am really debating on whether I should upgrade on Cyber Monday. Right now it prints successfully (the last threads image was printed with it) and I don't really mind multiple prints so I don't think I need a Saturn series. Will I really appreciate any of the features a Mars 5 (of any kind) have or should I just wait another year?
>>96893440damn.
>>96893504>or should I just wait another year?Mars 6 wont be a huge step forwards compared to the 5. The step from 2 to 5 (4 already) is massive, the print speed alone is worth it.
>>96893831>Mars 6 wont be a huge step forwards compared to the 5.It really won't. Expect marginal increases in print quality from changes in the backlight and improvements to the tilt mechanism, maybe making maintenance easier. Looking at the cutting edge companies like heygears, they are mostly the same as a Mars 5, plus shit like resin pumps, mixers, heaters, automatic calibrators and air compressors for rarefied air in the printing chamber (which apparently is great), but all of that would blow the Mars budget by a wide margin.
does anyone have any recs for long-haired space marine stls? I can't find any good pretty boy types for blood angels, the few I've found are for furry marines and have braids and beards and whatnot. paid or otherwise doesn't matter to me I'll buy them if they're decent enough
>>96889640>My sculpt is the OPAyy that's nice
I saw this in another thread, and I really want to make a real Daily Dose as a gift for my friend. Google seems to get worse and worse every day when it comes to actually finding what you want. Has no one ever really done their own Daily Dose as an STL? I find that hard to believe.
>>96895903gb2/toy/
>>96892667Would that thing even stand upright?
>>96896305If you weighed the base down a lot then probablyIf you're printing it with resin it would take gluing a few metal washers to the bottom of the base or something
Do resin miniatures really have a shelf-life of 2-3 years before they get super brittle/crumble into dust?
>>96896957No, I have plenty that are at least that old and have not noticed any difference in how brittle they are.
>>96896957I have some older than that timeframe that have yet to implode so yesThe imploding thing is mostly caused by poor infill related stuff and also using very bad resin, it only happens to a small hand full of models that are on the larger side size wise
>>96896075Lets see you denounce busts first.
>>96896957No, just fuck off with well-poisoning and fear mongering.
Does anyone have the ardent dwarf stls or know what's up with them? I've seen prints on Russian recast sites but that's it
>>96896957UV resin and FDM prints can be short lived. It mostly happens when you have it hit by the elements without something to protect it like UV-resistant paint.Resin also can break apart if there is uncured resin inside the model, which used to happen from bad geometry, but newer versions of the slicers can repair that stuff nowadays, so it only happens if someone hollowed the print and did not clean it enough.
>finally get around to unboxing my mars 2p>reboots on exposure test
>>96901224I hope you didn't buy a used printer despite everyone saying it's a bad idea
>>96901296>buy a used printerI did>everyone saying it's a bad ideanews to meIt looks new and came with everything but what do I know. Tomorrow I am going to check all the internals and if not it's getting donated.
>>96901345That sucksThe problem with used machines is that resin printing is incredibly frustrating and you don't want to have to deal with all the unknown variables which used machines bring which you could never even test for or fix I mean you could be doing everything right and yet get 10 fails in a row because the machine is fucked by a millimetre, it's the fastest way to make yourself hate the hobbyMaybe you could get a refund if the machine doesn't even do the exposure test, idkGood luck
>>96901345NTA but did you try asking first? Checking the internals will do nothing, you wont be able to tell if the screen is towards the end of its life or a dozen other potentially issues by doing a visual inspection. These machines aren't designed to last forever and a lot of the components get harder and harder to get each year it is out of production. A brand new printer comparable to the Mars 2 Pro (but better in pretty much every way) is about $150. I am not sure what you got your used one for, but $150 isn't expensive.
>>96899727>so it only happens ifIt doesn't happen at all if you use clear resin, opaque resins never get fully cured internally.
>>96896075Oh, I'm sorry, I meant to say, "It's going to be a boss for a one-shot, so ideally, I would want it to be 3"x3" at the base"What now, funny man?
>>96902408how about you have your daily dose of estrogen and then hang youself
>>96903077I tried, but I'm bad at tying knots. Maybe you can show me how to do it. Just record yourself doing it and have your mom send it over once the deed is done.
>>96903104
Buying a used printer is not a great idea because too many parts of the machine are consumables But it might be fine if you're not planning on printing a lot
>>96901296I wouldn't call it an inherently bad idea, but I certainly wouldn't buy used as my first printer.
Im relatively new to printing, and this is my first time printing something so large. What creates a failure like this? The bases on my supports were too weak, so it started to break off and warp?
>>96907799Here's a terminator I printed the day before by comparison. Im using a Saturn 3 ultra with Elegoo ABS-like 3.0 with a layer thickness of 20um and an exposure time of 2.5s
>>96907799Not enough supports is one option. Given what time of year it is I also have to ask what the temperature was wherever you have the printer?
>>96907799look at the right side. Before any supports started, the base plate already pulled apart, but your base layers stayed stuck to the buildplate. That means, your burn in layers are fine, and stuff went wrong before supports were an issue, so it would be your normal layer settings.I would add 1 to 2 seconds of wait before cure, lower lift speed if that does not work or add a bit more cure time.>>96907821Temp could also be the issue, but you can see that stuff went wrong before the supports started.Issues can cascade, so you need to start fixing from the first one happening, because it could be the supports just failed because of the torn off layers and would have been fine else.
