And theres no way theres any prohibition on growing plants, worst case you rip them all up when you move out it takes like a day to get rid of a garden you just harvest everything / cut it at the topsoil. This is 100% a choice and a lack of culture. Trellis is cheap as fuck and can be used to decorate a fence AND grow vines on it (vines are free basically) which add to privacy, sound dampening and greenifying the space. You can find this out after a 5 minute google search. If these people can afford the rent of rowhouses in a city suburb they can spend 1/5 of a paycheck making their space habitable. It's the British mentality not to do so.
