Campaign 4 will be taking a break this week, a one-shot featuring the new Dispatch game will be broadcast instead. Next week it's the SOLDIERS TABLE.

i appreciate the post but there's not much point until the campaign episode.

So what did Thijazi see in the sky before his death that freaked him out?

>2 minutes of Laura Bailey doing VA for a sex scene
was this Liam's requirement for Critical Role's involvement with the game?

So tell me /tg/, why was YOUR character at the execution?

What did he/ she think.
>>
>>96898897
Because you can kill a man, but not the idea.
>>
>>96900562
you can if you fart on it.
>>
>>96898897
The free early Amulet of Talos.
>>
>>96900562
But you can kill the people believing in the idea. And most of the time, thats enough.
>>
>>96898855
He probably rolled a nat 20 on a perception check and hijacked a wizard's teleport spell which sent his brain to the moon

So what is Critical Role even about? I only ever hear people that it's a thing, but never what it is about. Like what are the campaigns themselves about? Where do they take place? Is it a generic fantasy universe? Matt Mercer's own creation? Does he fuge the rolls so his players always survive? Are there different players for each campaign? Do they have an impact on the world?
>>
>>96902123
It's a show where actors pretend to play a game set in a world where traditionally monstrous races live among humans. Think Zootopia or Sesame Street, but with emotional scenes where the actors actually cry about dead NPCs that they never met outside of their back stories. Also they killed the gods because gods are racist against orcs
>>
>>96902123
It started as "hey let's livestream our weekly session because it's covid and everything is shut down" but now it's scripted and the characters never actually risk death unless that death has been preplanned by mutual consent. Several players have been seen openly cheating (rolls) but it doesn't matter because they have to hit each character's various story arcs so you're really watching people pretending to play 5th edition
>>
>>96902123
Theater kids get together and "play" D&D.

All I know is that they talk super fucking slow a lot of the time. Very melodramatic.
>>
>>96898897
>wtf kind of name is The Ozzie Fag? Also why this dwarf woman has a beard, that's disgusti
THAISHA ENTERS THE SCENE TO BE THE NEW MAIN CHARACTER

>>96902509
Whaaaaa-
and this is the Critical Role General saying this?
>>
>>96902540
Truly anon, it has really declined in quality the last few years. The first campaign was legitimately entertaining but I tried and failed to maintain any interest at all in watching the third and fourth campaigns.

It's lost that certain something that made it special.
>>
>>96902972
I'd still enjoy a lively romp in the sheets with mommy Laura tho
>>
>>96902447
>"hey let's livestream our weekly session because it's covid and everything is shut down"
Actually, the first campaign started in 2015. It's often credited with 5e's success, especially with it ending up so popular with theater kid types.
>>
>>96902540
People who actually play the game, at least on Reddit, used to say
>Critical Role is like the porn of D&D, don't get your expectations too high
But now, it feels more like it's the WWE of D&D. At least in porn, someone is actually getting fucked.
>>
>>96903150
Fair enough.

>>96903163
Anyone who has actually played (so, not /tg/) knows that real games aren't anywhere close to this polished or narratively-complete.

Side quests and plot hooks get missed all the time. Characters accidentally get killed before their <whatever> arc.

It's just so obviously pre-planned I can't get past it
>>
>>96898874
>>96898894
this guy is still schizo over liam being friends with a WOMAN.
>>
>>96898897
just happened to be walking by, going about my business
thinking "literally who?"
>>
>>96898897
Clogbee was keeping an eye for anyone who might interfere with the execution. Specifically, anyone using magic to disguise their appearance.

Thjazi's always been an arrogant upstart who thought he could fit the entire world into the palm of his hand. Good riddance.

>he scripts that their characters are twins claiming they are 'close buddies, like twins in real life'
>his character says "let's pretend we are married"
and "remember when we used to take baths together?"

>next campaign, tries to fuck her PC

That's some creepy shit for a friend to be doing, even if they are clueless theater kids. Not to mention him literally trying to script a scene kissing his friend's wife at the table. You really think this is acceptable behavior?
Try that shit with your friend's spouse at a table, and let us know how that goes.
>>
>>96905258
>he gets away with it, while doing a live-action roleplay of it, while Adam Koebel got completely cancelled for just saying (without describing it in detail) that an NPC mechanic gave a robot player a "robot orgasm" by plugging a cable into their port
>>
So Mulligan loves to hear himself talk even more than Mercer, and the new cast members have only the worst traits one can show at a table, just like the main cast. Yet /crg/ seems to be mutating into a fan board, with few still having the energy to call them on their shit. Is /crg/ doomed to the crapper like the hobby?
>>
>>96898855
Birds probably

>>96902123
Critical Role is about watching theater kids yap for 3 hours while you wait for Sam Riegel to do something funny. I highly recommend it.
>>
>>96903771
Whenever cr gets brought up on tg, some schizo chimes in saying Liam is totally creeping on Laura. I always assumed it was a pack of Laura gooners who had lost their minds, but it does make more sense if it's just one or two guys.
>>
>>96905335
>players want gritty Westworld style game
>female player chooses to play male bot
>GM does exactly what would be expected in such a world
>player can't RP it out. not only not grasping where the scene was going, but can't make anything from it.
>player acts like she was assaulted in real life
>show and GM get cancelled
It would be tragic if he wasn't a guy promoting fucking over GMs and other players with "safety tool" snowflake, control freak shit. Your character IS NOT YOU, dumbasses! I blame CR for this shit too (Liam, cough cough).
>>
Are these couple of Liam defenders autistic? Do they really think he doesn't cheat, the behavior with Laura's PCs is OK, and constantly fondling her at the table is not only completely innocent, but great role-play? Or are they just shady fucks themselves hoping tables will allow gooning over friends' spouses too? I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. Was.
>>
>>96902123
>What are the campaigns themselves about?
Campaigns 1-3 (DMed by Mercer) were high fantasy taking place in Mercer's own campaign setting, Exandria. Campaign 4 is DMed by BLM and is set in a different high fantasy setting, Araman. From what we know of it so far the main conceit is that the races of this world turned on and killed their Gods.

>does he fudge the rolls so the players always survive?
Not officially, but there is clearly scripting to some extent going on, more so as the series has gone on.

>are there different players for each campaign?
The Mercer-led campaigns are based around the same core cast of 7 players with occasional guests, Campaign 4 has 13 players total who are splitting into 3 different tables, the campaign will follow different arcs with each table and presumably they will from time to time come together and switch up the line-ups.

>do they have an impact on the world?
Typically yes, the characters generally end up attaining high levels of power and influence, taking on world-ending threats etc. In campaign 4 the PCs look set to play a major role in a conflict between noble houses trying to fill the power vacuum left in the wake of the dead gods.

your schizo posting doesn't work as bait. all you are doing is constantly admitting you've never had a woman as a friend, and its really telling.
>>
you don't have to be a normie to recognize the schizo.
>>
>>96906718
Notice how anon doesn't find it strange when Sam or Ashley refer to Liam as "my husband" or when any of the other casts gets touchy, but only when Liam gets close to Laura.
>>
>>96906169
>races of this world turned on and killed their Gods.
So how do clerics work then?
>>
>>96906761
hell his most recent point is that she once sat on the arm of a packed couch.
you know, out of the actual thousands of times sitting side by side.
its bad comedy.
>>
>>96906780
we've not seen any real clerics. one of the pc's might explore this. paladins are le godless
>>
>>96903352
>Side quests and plot hooks get missed all the time. Characters accidentally get killed before their <whatever> arc.
I had a dungeon crawl end with a 3/4 party death.
>>
>>96905823
>t. Liam O'Brien
>>
>>96906780
We don't know yet, but one PC thinks he is a cleric but actually appears to be some kind of celestial sorceror.
>>
>>96905983
I see it too. I honestly believe that Laura had them play twins in campaign one so that he wouldn't try to romance her. And he's the reason Travis doesn't like romance rp, but was forced to romance his wife's character so that Liam wouldn't.
>>

not everyone, just a schizo in this thread making random references only you would understand.
>>
>>96907672
I have posted exactly once about Liam's obvious crush on Laura. You are the schizo. Get a fucking grip.
>>
>>96907787
sure you did, thats why you got turbo defensive over some other anon's nonsensical schizo posting.
I swear you people are too dumb to even shitpost anymore.
>>
speaking of gooning to laura,
>>
>>96907834
This >>96907622 is turbo defensive? I'm making fun of you. But it's not fun anymore. You're boring. Keep posting about how I'm a schizo who spilled your drink and made your penis small.
>>
>>96907901
I accept your concession.
