I've seen a bunch of wuxia now, and Dongfang Bubai has shown up over and over again, kind of like how Wukong gets referenced in a bunch of different anime. So I want to do an homage to him by making the Sunflower Manual a magic item in my Dungeons and Dragons games. Obviously, you think wuxia, you think monks, so using the manual should give some class-specific benefits. I think 20% extra ki points is a good place to start. It should also let you use a shortsword as a monk weapon, to reference Bixie Swordplay. And of course also grant shortsword proficiency even if the manual is used by a non-monk. I think also something similar to the Martial Adept feat, or maybe even just the feat itself as a bonus for using the manual. A generic plus one to proficiency and AC could generally represent the benefits from the manual, but I feel like that's too lazy.Obviously, being a manual, no attunement slot is required, just downtime to study and master the contents. I just want to make sure the bonuses are strong enough though, not just to pay homage to the literary history, but to balance the cost of the PCs' balls exploding.

>>96903407You should probably know that shortswords are already monk weapons then
