So I did have this idea of incorporating russian roulette into a TCG. The game will need to be changed a little however here is the basic premise.12 chamber revolverstart of your turn spin the chamber.Game functions normally, however at any time you can decide to pull 1 extra card for the price of shooting the gun at yourself, no spinning.did anyone experiment with a similar Roulette mechanic in a card game? Does this sound fun?
>>96904772I know it's not the answer you want but man, showing someone that pic of haruhi and asking them what song is a great way to flush out people who didn't grow up as western millenials on the internet....anyway, OP, do you mean actual russian roulette at the table, bullets in the gun, literally and not metaphorically fatal to the actual player?Or do you mean a "risk losing the game" mechanic where you can gamble with an immediate game loss if a prop gun goes bang?
>>96904784>Or do you mean a "risk losing the game" mechanic where you can gamble with an immediate game loss if a prop gun goes bang?Yep prop gun.PS: Who would be insane enough to do it with a real gun?!For starters where do you find a 12 chamber revolver?!
>>96904784>that pic of haruhi and asking them what song is a great way to flush out people who didn't grow up as western millenials on the internet. What did you mean by tjhis?
>>96904800I meant >name the song, ivan.>>96904790I had to ask, this IS 4chan.Honestly it's a fascinating mechanic and warrants serious investigation, both from an odds risk/reward perspective and a player psychology perspective.Thinking about modern TCGs, it would 100% be worth it in yugioh where a single +1 in card advantage is so universally considered worth it that players would run 3 copies of Pot of Punch Yourself in the Nuts. The more a deck is able to combo off early, the more that turn one risk is worth it. The more a game is about mid to long term advantage, the more you consider whether it's worth using turn after turn. Deck manipulation and Miracle type effects would probably start to matter more.It would also make tournaments WAY more fun to watch if they used cap-guns rigged with a fat load of smoke or something.
>>96904818>a single +1 in card advantageHowever you shooting yourself = you lose the game no comebacks>yugioh However yugioh is fucked because it is a game made up as a fake game for a manga where the mangaka did not have any idea about resource management.also it was not even the main game in the original manga they played lots of insane other games in the beginning.
>>96904831I know all about yugioh series zero and the insanity of it. It's exactly the kind of mechanic that belongs in ANY season of the anime though, because it adds another tension-adjusting lever for the writers to use to cheaply make any duel go where they want. Also, if they added The Gun to modern magic the gathering, they'd add cards that refer to and interact with it either immediately or 18 months later, and there'd be a whole modern or commander archetype built around it that people would hate because it relies on a thing the opponent cannot interact with. An Eminence commander who gains experience counters when you shoot yourself or something dumb.
>>96904790>PS: Who would be insane enough to do it with a real gun?!Where do you think you are?
>>96904851>Eminence - As long as ~ is in the command zone or on the battlefield, if you would shoot yourself, instead each opponent sacrifices a creature. Each opponent that can’t discards a card. Awful.
>>96904851>An Eminence commander who gains experience counters when you shoot yourself or something dumb. That is literally insane because you shooting yourself = you are dead!>I know all about yugioh series zero and the insanity of itWho can forget the >drinking game however it has death in it!or>Air hockey however also grenades and death! The card game was basically a never thought out bootleg standing for MTG. One that was never really thought over or checked!>series zero Try duelist kingdom! There you can summon any card you have in your hand!! All monsters cost zero anything! Anyone who has a more powerful monster wins! Battle city tried to restrict these powerful monsters by introducing sacrifice etc.
>>96905005>>Eminence - As long as ~ is in the command zone or on the battlefield, if you would shoot yourself, instead each opponent sacrifices a creature. Each opponent that can’t discards a card. >Awful.Literal vomit! The point of the gun is that it overwrites EVERYTHING.Gun goes boom = you lose the game. There is no card effect or shit that can revert this! The mechanic is very simple and ads a way to get more cards to help yourself out or lose the game.
>>96905005>>96905489>>96905509I meant "When you pull the trigger, some trigger happens", not when you mcfucking dieBut honestly I don't trust WotC to take a mechanic and decide to staple too much to it, like how they went in a few years from "this thing makes a food token" to "when you make a food token instead make three, and then reveal the top card of your library, and if it's a land put it into play and if it's not gain life, and then..." kinda shit.
