Is there even a way to do romance with an NPC without it being cringe as fuck?In my experience, it worked fine between players, but every attempt to do that with an NPC was dropped pretty fast.
Guest co-gm that handles the NPC. Guy that ran games for us back in high school used his sister
>>96907978>top surgery scarsThe people who make shit like this are the most loveless, mentally unstable people imaginable and they only want to pitch the idea of playing romance in games, which they don't play, because they are devoid of romance in their real lives.
>>96907978That pic is a roundabout dyke romance.
>>96907978>Is there even a way to do romance with an NPC without it being cringe as fuck?No.\thread
>Is there even a way to do romance with an NPC without it being cringe as fuck?yeah? just don't be autistic
>>96908566alternatively, have everyone in the group be an autist (there's no cringe if you're unaware it's cringe)
>>96907978Sure. But like everything else, you have to have good expectations and work with your GM on it.
>>96907978>mfw I don't actually remember the last time tabletop fantasy art depicted a woman pining for a man

jesus fucking christ
>>96907978Am I completely mental, or is that a colostomy bag on the left?
>>96908084They would be in good company here
>>96908702Probably. Just to round out the whole "I have enough issues to be a whole publication!" vibe they are going for.
>>96907978Can be done. Massive fades to black always (even if the romance is not/has not gone sexual...like "Ok you hit on the NPC, maybe quickly describe how for context"), maybe with a "I can show you the world" montage that is hopefully done in narration either by the GM or even the player themselves, and that's just an example of a potential preamble, if they romance an orc barbarianesse and they want to narrate "We punch each other until we're both so turned on that we hate-fuck" that's a fine way to do it but that's literally the extent of it.
>>96907978Romance in tabletop games is one of those areas where I feel that needing to ask how to do it is a pretty good sign that you shouldn’t be trying it.
>>96908702judging by the top surgery scars, yes, that is not the worst of their issues.
>>96907978The NPC needs to continue being a character, which means having goals, desires, and conflicts that exist outside of their paramour - and sometimes conflicts WITH their paramour. Some players aren’t necessarily going to handle that well and might accuse you of “punishing” them by having their lover not like their behavior. But fuckpuppets aren’t romance.
No. There is not.For some reason, with several different DMs, they keep throwing NPC women at my characters. Not in a subtle "The barmaid gives you a slight wink as she fills the table's pitcher" manner but whole "This lady is your fiance now and also she's a princess so you can't say no" or "the villainess you decided to spare casts a curse that ties your souls together and says that she's now your responsibility forever" shit. It's gotten pretty wild. I almost think it's like some sort of secret wager or bounty to see who can get an NPC to fade-to-black one of my characters, and every time I have to act like the protagonist in a sudden-girlfriend-appearance anime where I have to be annoyed by the beautiful women throwing themselves at me, and all just because I want to avoid the cringe-inducing romance bullshit.Once, I intervened in a battle between a red dragon and an amethyst dragon, and somehow ended up with both transforming into human women, and declaring that I had to marry both of them so I can resolve any future disputes they might have. After the game I asked my DM what kind of ridiculous forced romance was that, and she said that she noticed I was really bad at picking up hints so she thought she really had to make the potential romance obvious. It's pretty insulting to think that someone is that dense, and I told her as such. The very next week, I find a mermaid in a well and after rescuing her she says she has to marry whoever saved her. Some people just can't learn a lesson, no matter how direct you are with them.
>>96908955This. If it's anything else besides a sweet subplot to humanize, you're just playing into a masturbatory fantasy and automatically a weirdo. Also, that op pic is cursed.
>>96909212>I almost think it's like some sort of secret wager or bounty to see who can get an NPC to fade-to-black one of my charactersSounds plausible, actually.
