You'll also find that generally people are willing to pay a bit of a premium to be able to physically hand you the models at an lgs rather than dealing with shipping both ways

>>96932576That's how they worked. Pushing the 2 sides connects a little tapered metal strip to the terminals. The resistive strip gets hotter towards the thinner end (smaller cross section = higher resistance) and as the voltage of the battery drops the point where it heats up enough to activate the temperature sensitive wrapper moves to the wider end.
