Abolitionism in an RPG setting: How do you incorporate abolitionism into a role-playing game world in a way that resonates with people, without making it the default norm? Are there good examples of fictional settings where certain countries or cultures include this concept? I’m not just referring to enslaved individuals wanting freedom, but also non-enslaved people advocating for the end of slavery. Additionally, I propose an oath to ignore anyone attempting to justify Southern slavery or falsely imply that Jewish people were responsible for American slavery—no comments or engagement with such claims. Most importantly, I suggest disregarding any pseudo-history or pseudoscience from those pushing these narratives by not commenting and just staying on the school Topic at hand for settings and role playing games.

>>96934568To keep out the spam include "Fuck Vishnu, I Curse Vishnu's Name" somewhere in your postIf you don't, then we'll all know you're indian.
>>96934914I rather not insult Indian people just for the sake of you don't like Indians for some reason.
As I said last thread, it can work on a scale where you have some control over the follow-up development.Society where some slaves were in administrative roles, some in skilled work, and some in menial work (such as Roman republic) should take liberation pretty well, there's a spread of skills and pool of knowledge allowing that slave population to live on as free citizens. But liberating population of people who only knew menial work all their life and leaving them to their own devices can turn nasty - they may not understand concept of commerce, or long term planning, or basic literacy. Setting them up to either suffer and starve or turn to banditry.Liberation shouldn't be once-and-done decision but gradual proces of (re)socialization. Which is largely incompatible with "solve the problem with heroic intervention, reap rewards, and move on" idea of adventuring.
>>96934986Then insult them for one the many, Many good reasons to. Granted, you're most likely larping.Fuck Vishnu, I Curse Vishnu's Name
>>96934568You have been awarded 3 goodboi points. Now fuck off
The game takes place on nascent island nation of Haiti. Alright boys, have at it.

>slavery exists>slavers are rich assholesWow, that was difficult.
>>96934568>Abolitionism in an RPG setting: How do you incorporate abolitionism into a role-playing game world in a way that resonates with people, without making it the default norm?>"We know many among ourselves who have given themselves up to bonds, in order that they might ransom others. Many, too, have surrendered themselves to slavery, that with the price which they received for themselves, they might provide food for others."
>>96935068Some Roman and Egyptian slaves were allegedly trusted with great deal of autonomy, including handling money, weapons, or owning their own slaves. Also that one guy in Django Unchained who was basically evil vizier manipulating his master.
>>96938404>Some Roman and Egyptian slaves were allegedly trusted with great deal of autonomy, including handling money, weapons, or owning their own slaves. Oh yeah it was definitely better in a lot of ways being a slave among the Romans or Egyptians especially if you personally knew your master. I think the Romans actually considered it a good thing if you had a well-educated Slave .
>>96934568Same answer as last thread.>"I don't like it"Really, what else do you need to justify it?
>>96934568Just do it how Morrowind did it.Holy shit, what a boring topic.
>>96934568To be honest you have three ways of doing it. Other going all in the "killing and raiding slavers route. Trying to change the laws of nations using connections and your pull. Or creating machines that can replace the jobs most slaves tend to do making it not worth having a slave.

>>96938404In-door slave va Out-door slave. Of course you treat the people who have direct access to you and your family better. The issue is always who tend the fieles, mine the ore and Row the boats...
There is Dark Sun. I forget the name of the main city where the sorcerer-king was toppled but the slaves there achieved abolition. Though now the city is dealing with the politics of post-abolition, the elite chaffing under the changing dynamics of the social structure.
>>96934568Dis we really need another thread about this topic right after the first one? Anyways, traditional games anyone?
I'm really disappointed this isn't a Transformers RPGs thread.
>>96938404>Some Roman and Egyptian slaves were allegedly trusted with great deal of autonomy, including handling money, weapons, or owning their own slaves. That's something that really depended on when and where you were and what kind of slave you were since a Greek scholar slave educating a roman noble would be treated a fuck of a lot better than a laborer during the height of slave capture from conquest in the Roman Republic/Empire who could be slapped with an effective death sentence on a whim by for example sending him to do brutal milling or mining work
>>96940816There's still time. What did you want to say about it?
>>96938404>>96940830I'm a massive Romaboo, but a lot of retards forget that it took until Antoninus Pius for killing a slave to become a criminal offense rather than a civil one (destruction of property). The Roman system was brutal.
