I'm genuinely surprised we don't have tamers or delay/field options which support vanilla cards yet. I could see a deck type based around low play cost, low digivolve cost but high DP and then supportive effects from delays or the tamer to create an almost Survivor-esque system.

So I actually never dealt with any trading card game so Digimon is the first time I set foot into that world so I was ready to bump into roadblocks due to my ignorance but stores not buying or trading cards was not one of them. The guy was even offended when I asked if they would buy or trade cards. I wasn't even expecting a good price, since their prices were really low on tcgplayer so I was at least hoping I could trade them for equally low value cards that at least I didn't already have. What's more, cards that were listed as less than a dollar were being sold at $5. I don't know if that's standard stuff but I don't feel like dealing with that. What am I supposed to do with the cards I don't want? It's the only store that sells Digimon in my area.

A lot of stores don't update card prices or have an in store minimum price for cards. Also, players can be a special kind of painful when it comes to trading with a store so most just don't bother. You either hold onto the cards for yourself to use at some point or for collecting. You can trade and sell some cards to other players, but no one really wants to pay for bulk low rarity and value cards. If you really only want a couple of cards and don't care about the rest, just throw them in a box, write free on the box, and leave it at the store for people to through
