Dumping these for funsies
Predicitons for the MH UB:>Rathalos, King of the Skies (probably Legendary because commander even though it shouldn't be, probably monoR)>Fatalis, Black Dragon (rakdos, Elder Dragon, 7+cmc with splashy effect)>Nergigante, Eater of Elders (Gruul or Jund, +1+1 counter theme, maybe Devour Dragon X?)>Zinogre, Lord of Lightning (Wolf Dragon?)>Maybe something to rep Wilds, maybe Arkveld? >Reprint of Rampant Growth with art featuring Wilds' climate change thing>Colossus Hammer reprinted as Hunter's Greatsword>Probably some fuckass card like Hunter's Insight that is only there because it has Hunter in the name
>>96983428Actually now that i think about it, wouldn't be Wolf Dragon, would be Wolf Drake. It's still weird to me that MTG doesn't have Wyvern as a creature type

>politics in edhNoJust noYou are not a schemer. You are not Macheiavelli. You are not a mastermind. Just play your fucking cardboard cards with colored pictures in silence, ok?
>>96984215Those who choose to be ignorant of the politics of their own play will constantly be the victim of the political dynamics they unknowingly create.
>>96984215my solution to that is just playing 1v1 commander
>>96984215No. I WILL convince your other opponents to target you over me because I can speak instead of just flicking my cards like an autistic. I WILL be charming and affable at the Lgs pod and it will mean I have less removal coming my way. I WILL make deals and truces that far more benefits me over you and the rest of the table. Your group won't even notice except you, anon. And like Cassandra they won't listen and the more you complain the more they'll help me kill you first.
>>96983377>TQ37 is the magic number for me. I was always told to get somewhere between 36 to 38 in my decks. I always make sure I have something like 7-10 basic lands in my decks just in case there's some "destroy all your nonbasics and search your deck for that amount of basics" bullshit going on.
>>96984215Politics has always worked for me.>have a deck I know people will target me for>also know having a buddy to cover me would help>convince one player to be my friend for a bit so we can cover each other>agree we'll slap each other's shit once the other two players are dead

>>96983377The bracket system is so convoluted and artificial that it ruined my interest in EDH altogether.
>>96984757Unless you pubstomp, its not really relevant. The increase in ‘its a 7’iggers was made for the competitive cancer players that refuse to go to cedh, so now we have a bracket system that they ‘exploit’ to go ‘its legally 1!’

>>96984215I do avoid to do politics, but only because im well know to have back-stabbing tendencies and i'll fuckin' do it again
>>96983454This is the issue. I used to play "bracket 2/3" equivalent modern decks on mtgo and just got the shit beat out of me on the reg by tier 1 decks. But every 1/100 games I'd find another like me, and we'd have treefolk tribal vs whatever the fuck they had, and it'd be a fun time.
>>96984778It is relevant because it's retarded. I can play literally nothing but draw for 6 turns, and you cant kill me, lest I scream and cry bracket violating pubstomper. Then when I combo off on turn 8, teehee, I'm bracket 2 what can I sayMeanwhile aggro decks just get shit on, never endingly, allowing players to become midrange slop piles with impunity.
>>96984924This post just reads like someone who played removal tribal, and the other players did nothing but draw and then combo’d out on turn 8That sounds really boring, maybe read the simple bracket descriptions. The more you piss people off in a casual format, the less they want to play with you. Go to cedh

The thing about bracket rules, game changers and turn limits is that they're currently imagining a normal person capable of communication and designing the system around them, not around the most evil antisocial sicko possible who plays only to frustrate and annoy their alleged friends
>>96985121I wouldn't call them evil. I think it's more a mix of autism and not reading properly. WotC's bigest error is providing some loose rules open for interpretation to a community filled with undiagnosed autists that will sperg out on any change. A subset of them will then also go to LGS and pubstomp with their "midpower" deck.
>>96984345quasi related, I always narrative/announce all my game actions. "I cast this, if it resolves x will happen, Y triggers and Z draws" which is probably not really needed considering I only play low power, but people who try to cast things without announcing what it is almost always tend to be people who think they are CEDH level players.
>>96984924>can play literally nothing but draw for 6 turns, and you cant kill me, lest I scream and cry bracket violating pubstomperIt's not out of bracket to *lose* in previous turns, and if you expose yourself like a retard and die as a result nobody will say it's out of bracket>then when I combo off on turn 8, teehee, I'm bracket 2 what can I sayif you comboed and won after doing nothing for 7 turns straight then it's on the rest of the table
>>96985139In my LGS at least people like that would be filtered out because people would obviously notice they're intentionally misleading other people as to the powerlevel of their deck; it's no different from just straight up lying about what bracket it's on.
>>96984215Alright, bet.I convince other people you're the threat because you're playing too seriously in a casual format. If you can 3v1 us then it reinforces my claim and people will constantly view you with suspicion. If not outright bump you out from sheer gullibility. If you can't then its obviously because there's too much attention on you, and you're playing the small bean until you combo out and win.
>>96985065don't talk about my waifu like that

Unsolicited Magic night report>bracket 3 table>keep a Sol Ring opener>top deck Sapphire Medallion turn 1>somehow table does not see this as threatening>winMuch as I enjoy this deck, I think a month is enough. Similar to a polymorph deck I threw together earlier this year it flies under the radar because your average commander player can't understand someone with a turbo-charged mana rock commander in play is a major threat. It might get one more night at the store if the mailman doesn't send me the last cards for my next deck. But otherwise I enjoyed the aesthetic of the deck more than playing it, though I blame those random tables populated by people who just don't know how to deal with control.
Gonna position my response as someone who only plays randos on mtgo. As i see it, you dont need a bracket system with friends, as you'll just give each other shit for doing lame stuff. Bracket system seems made for playing with randos, and god knows there's no place more pubstompy and without morals than mtgo. Puttin your bracket in the game description can be helpful (like minded players) or hurtful (they know they can pubstomp b2 with their b4), but you just accept you're gonna lose sometimes and move on.the whole "die by turn X" thing doesnt make sense to me. I play the wise mothman precon, unmodified, in b2 games online. Dudes will be t6 with a "draw something"/"treasure token" creature as their sole line of defense, dyin to mothman, complaining about brackets. So either this was a t3 precon (as I can kill someone t6), or the new bracket rules are faggoty. I lean towards the latter.
>>96984215Yes, I am all of those things. And you will deal with the hounds I unleash on you, homo
>>96985121>>96985139The issue is that the kind of people who can navigate the bracket system without abusing it don't need such a system in the first place. It just makes deck construction WAY harder and provides absolutely no benefit.
>>96985404None of that is true. It provides useful guidelines: a list of problematic cards and behaviours (such as extra turns) and expectations for the deck.
>>96985404It provides substantial benefit, and deck building is easier than ever. The bracket system works like a chinese finger trap. The more you optimize lower brackets, the more it works against you. ‘But tropical island is bracket 1!’
>>96985231I'll say what I wish about your SLATTERNLY wife, assamattauhfac
>>96985404You guys ever really listened to Gavin Verhey or whoever's talking about the brackets and stuff in their writing and whatnot? You can tell it's kind of dripping with contempt. Like, they're fully aware the only reason this stuff is necessary is because there are just these like malevolent, socially awkward weirdos who need specific instructions on how not to be a massive fucking asshole in a format that was designed to be a break from the competitiveness of 60 card formats. Every time I've sat down to play commander with one of these fucking freaks that put in some shit like bloodmoon or some stupid lock that makes the game unfun for everyone else, they've been physically repulsive, socially stunted, and overall a pathetic person.

>>96985404100% this. If you are playing in good faith, you don't need it.If you are playing in bad faith, you can now pubstomp with wotcs blessing.
>>96985404Once again I take the blackpill that Commander players are collectively retarded and could be convinced Vintage is a good format.
>>96986204from the people i know its less about pubstomping and more about defending their zero interaction deck by claiming every counter to their deck is against the InTeNtIoN of bracket x.i.e. guy is proud he plays no interaction, only business but dont you dare play rest in peace, dictate of erebos or og elesh norn against him.
>>96986240im utterly baffled how you people are surrounded by others who have never learned from lack of interaction. It took me two games to realize I needed to adjust my playstyle to improve. Took me a lot more to realize how much protection/interaction was needed, but still.
>>96986250the majority of commander players don't care enough to get better at magic in general, they just want to slam their pieces of cardboard onto the table
>>96986250what do you mean by never learned? they dont want an interactive game. they treat commander as a euro board game where everybody plays by themselves and after an hour someone shouts bingo and wins.>>96986283this.
>>96986240This. Brackets are a victim card, nothing more or less.
>>96986283>>96986286maybe i can thank the sweats at the lgs who loved to try and pubstomp. I once brought a precon only to be met with atraxa, ur dragon and jodah.Had to very quickly improve if I wanted to play more than 3 turns.

i'd like to put together a deck that operates mostly as a control deck. i know that really narrows down to specific archetypes in edh and the nature of 4 player games. any suggestions for starting points to get the ball rolling? i mostly want the increased flexibility to reliably have answers for a few problem commanders in my playgroup, which i feel naturally lends itself to more of a control shell of a deck.

Can't believe I'm getting sick right before commander night. It's so over.
>>96986679>>96986662nta, but I really, really hate the fact that a creature that enters attacking doesn't get its attack trigger. etb gets its triggers from literally anything, like reanimate, sneak attack, flicker. attack triggers? sorry no cheating allowed.what is the actual reasoning behind it?
I'm really digging grandma.
>>96987525Because attacking is a specific timing. There is time to react. A creature entering attacking completely warps that into double archon of cruelty triggers with myriad, for example
Third attempt for Eluge. First one was Timmy spells tribal, or rather - do nothing, scare everyone with the commander and have it draw all the hate of the table. The second iteration was lots of free counter spells, so I could protect Eluge somewhat but had no way to win the game. I'm trying to be much less aggressive/splashy and focus on defensive counter magic and voltron shit. Is it dumb? My friend group really hated the ton of counter spells, so in the spirit of playing together, I'd rather remove their stuff if needed rather than counter it, unless it directly threatens me.Mono U voltron seems to rely on artifacts, is it stupid to go in this direction? I have absolutely no artifact synergy in that deck otherwise.
>>96987525That actually of making a creature attack and actually attacking are two different things in Magic. I would explain more but your words/wording reminds me of an autist a few months ago who, despite several anons explaining it, just wouldn't get it nor the reasoning behind it, which turned to spite trolling when other anons mocked him. Sorry but if you're him, I'll not be caught by your trap once more.
>>96987309>at least talk about what you like about the game,Fuck, this is the most broken-home shit i've ever heardYou don't have to constantly surround yourself with positivity, faggot. It's actually a lot worse if you do
>>96986478It is bizarre. God knows what their priorities are with those.
>>96987118I always wanted to make Mortarion work. How does this usually play out?
>>96987392Ruby has some niche applications in getting 3RRR and 4RRR costs out on turn 4. Radha has a niche in being able to trigger Blighted Woodland a turn sooner. Susan's niche is being able to run Temur or Naya colors.Susan + Tenth is probably her best pairing because it gives her a mana outlet she can use later. Susan + War is also notable because it's easy to fit in cascade/discover with no legal targets so War Doctor can one-shot players.Source: Ruby's my main deck, I did Susan + Tenth for a while but adding blue doesn't offer as much as it normally would because of the naturally high curve and difficulty using counterspells with cascade.
>TreasuresTreasures now say it doesn’t trigger abilities when it’s sacrificed for mana.Good/bad?
>>96987557I try to play mine mostly defensive, getting as many flood counters as possible so I can cast my huge spells. But my group still hates him because later in the game, turns can take forever.
>>96987602Exceptionally bad. I don't even know why you think this is something they should change.

>>96985027It's fun with Dinosaurs.Vault Tyrant turns into Draw 2, Gain 6. Etalis pop twice. I can't think of much else off the top of my head - new player and all - but even just the VT is great. Going from like 35 to 53 in a single main phase and gaining cards off it? Intoxicating.
>>96987557It's hard to go entirely wrong with artifact beat down. Blue has more than a few searchers for it and Eluge's naturally growing power makes him a good candidate for it.
Cope: MH cards aren't mechanically unique because there's a full MH set in the works, its a UB that fits really well with Magic
>>96987609How do you try to win the game?

>>96985787I built Jameson recently. Initial more of a joke than anything but have been surprised by how much I've enjoyed him. It's mostly a bunch of menace creatures and extra combat enablers but it does it's job well trying to set up for the big waves of combat and swarming with menaces.
>>96988037It may be a Skyrim like thing where the majority don't even consider the franchise having began until it's big breakout release. World being that for Monster Hunter. Which is lame as fuck but it happens.
>>96986662>>96986679No, it doesn't. "Number of players attacked" is "the number of players who have an attack declared against them". The same event that attack triggers look for is the one that marks a player as attacked. This is a known interaction with myriad and melee, where in addition to not getting the melee triggers, the myriad tokens don't make the original creature's melee bigger (you need other creature to attack those players to pump melee). On the flip side, myriad doesn't stop exalted triggers for the exact same reason.>>96987525>>96987908Because "enters" is a zone change event (which includes from outside the game like created tokens), but "attacks" is a state change event, which requires the creature to exist in one state and change to another. It's like entering tapped not triggering tap events: "tapping" is going from the untapped state to the tapped, which requires being untapped in play first.
>>96988073But the others are identified by their origin game correctly (except Rathalos which is bizarrely referred to as from Generations). They might be meant to be those specific depictions or something?
>>96988061If only it was in Rakdos colors it would be greatbut considering this allows generous plunderer and professional facebreaker to pop off even more, it does kind of build itself.
>>96984215Some people call it "politics" when they just mean basic threat assessment and game theory ("hey let's both hold up interaction in case he has protection for his game ender") and some people think "politics" is the exact opposite ("hey I'll protect your game ender if you don't do 5 damage to me this turn")
>>96988136Wait, no, they also have Zinogre's wrong, he's from Portable 3rd, not 3U. That's a much smaller error though.

so what ARE some legit treasure strategies for rakdos? I want to make him more consistent instead of praying every game that I have it

>>96989897sure, but what if I don't have have him? how much can I actually lean into impulse draw + treasure synergies?the mechanics I use in the decks are too much all over the place. I feel like I need to decide on one thing and build around that. "a bit of this a bit of that" doesn't work out a lot of time in practice.
QUICK! Post your super secret tech.
>>96989945I occasionally pretend that I have it and trick opponents into playing slow
>>96989944if not impulse itself, can just use the various 'draw, discard make a treasure card', warren soul trader and ophiomancer/jadar/any other token maker and pitiless plunderer. there's plenty of ways for rakdos to get treasures pretty consistently.
>>96989887Aristocrats?
>>96989960>>96989969I was hoping to not go for aristocrat tokens since I already have one in rakdos. but if that's a viable strategy for lord of riots, I will give it a shot.
>>96989980>but if that's a viable strategy for lord of riotsFor *him*? Yeah dunno, I was just saying in general. I have Mahadi in my Ognis deck so it was the first thing I thought of

>>96989987ognis sounds cool, maybe I'll try him next>>96990002it's more about generating some general ramp. I don't know. I'm revisiting rakdos since he was my first commander and I never was able to build him in a satisfying manner.
>>96990038>ognis sounds cool, maybe I'll try him nextMine is a super casual deck with like 40 1-3cmc creatures with haste, with the goal of making 25+ treasures to throw into giant X spells like Earthquake/Hurricane/Nuclear Fallout/etc to blow up the entire table at once. Yes I die too but I think it's funny
>>96990038>it's more about generating some general ramprakdos is only 4 mana with the caveat of an opponent having lost life, not even by combat or even by you, then rakdos discounts all the cards you cast. Try more pingers than treasure makers.
>>96990068that's where I currently am. I'm running pretty much every 1-2cmc pinger I could find. problem is, if I play nothing but pingers up to t4, then my commander and whatever colorless creature I cheat out with him will be removed by t5 in way over 50% of games. I basically gamble if I will loose 2 turns by trying to get him out too early, which is what I want to move away from.

>>96990444Welp digits dont lie, based furfag. The only good use of AI is porn
>>96989818The problem with AI is it literally cannot create anything. It can only take things that have already been created and make a Frankenstein creature as an output. So if everything goes AI, no new ideas or interpretations will emerge because it will just be an endless recycling of the shit we already have. Everyone almost universally agrees we've stagnated when it comes to new media and tech, with Hollywood only able to release remakes and reboots, apple and windows only able to release old products with new numbers and a gloss of paint, etc. everyone is already bored and discontented with the current stagnation. Well imagine that stagnation going on forever. That's what AI is.

Momo's heist is pretty funny with Metalbender TophYou can take something, use it, then at the end phase, earthbend it, and then sac it, and it permanently just belongs to you.
I’ve decided to focus on combat tricks for Azula. Lots instants that buff her with double strike, power doubling, deathtouch, invincible, etc. coupled with plently of targeted removal, the goal is to either swing out for commander damage with her or buff a different firebender such as Ozai
>>96990811good luck. i've tried to build her in a few ways but she always ends up as grixis combo turn which isnt what I'm looking for.
