Glad GW put out a new faq that clarified neither Hieroteks new reanimation/kill grade wording nor the new shoot action requirements clause in magnifyOn a separate note, which XV26 operatives are yall feeling to carry the teams two fusion blasters?
it's been awhile since I've played, are fellgor still broken or should I get night lords? honestly might just drop 200+ bones on a few night lord boxes to make an army
>>97022408Fellgor are fine now, not broken but not trash eitherNemesis Claw have largely avoided any major nerfs and are still pretty strongAlso bear in mind there will be a new Raptor team in two boxes time
>>97022483>there will be a new Raptor team in two boxes timenice
If there's a Grey Knights team I'll cum
I'm new and got a kasrkin team because they look cool. What's the ideal loadout I should build them in, weapon wise? I didn't expect there to be choices
>>97023444Sergeant's best loadout is basically always plasma pistol and chainsword, though power sword and laspistol is close enough to be viable if you really prefer the look. All specialists are good.Your gunner selections should be plasma, melta, grenade launcher, and either hot-shot volley (mobile and has the most damage output of the remaining three operatives) or sniper (way too stationary and often not as good as the volley even when it gets to shoot but has a cool cloak so wins aesthetic points, just don't expect him to perform on the table). Flamer has its niche so it can be good to have as an alternative but if you only have a single box of options I'd leave it out.

>>97021561>TQfrag, rarely useful if the enemy sees it coming or is elitekrak good, pretty good with midrange , awsome with melee teamsstun... meh deends on teams played too much for my tastesmoke is hard to use and i am to stupid (what could invalidate my previous opinions as well lol)
Who are the most fun killteams right now? I get that fun is subjective, so just give me your subjective opinion.
>>97025193Orcs are always considered thr most fun teams.I personally like to play Wyrmblade and Battleclade (and really wanne try canoptec circle)
>>97025193Wreckas are off the charts when it comes to "fuck it we ball" energy.Deathwatch has every other team beat on having models that are good without needing to do anything special, even if that might not be as fun for the opponent. Maximum "man, look at my one little guy, he is so good".Phobos strike team has never let me down for a fun game. Since they don't win an equal trade against the majority of teams in a shootout or brawl, they need to use their extra skills to sneak in the damage, which is always a fun challenge. If you really want a challenge in positioning and find a difficult team fun, sanctifiers is one I can vouch for. Now that they've been nerfed, they'll really force you to manage model placement well to succeed. Really not good against space marine teams though, since they are low on reliable damage sources.
>>97021561Bunch of stuff seems to have been updated yesterday in the GW downloads page. Not every teams been updated, but a fair chunk have.
>>97025370Yeah it was a bunch of FAQ and minor wording updates that came alongside the addition of the two new teams. The app can be updated too.
I want to paint my Volkus terrain in that Overgrown style that has been making the rounds, but I want to go with an autumn theme.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3tF3_CB1FkCan I just substitute the green flock for brownish flock and scatter leaves or will it look retarded? What do overgrown abandoned ruins look like in the autumn IRL, do the plants all die off and regrow over the winter or do they just turn brown? Pic semi-related, apparently ivy can turn darker sometimes
>>97025868depending on the flock it looks more like sand if you only use brown flock, for autumn you nees some more colors.i personaly dont think it will look as good as green moss style but if done right it can still look nice (but is harder to do)
Almost finished with the Volkus terrain. The other other buildings just need some more detailing. I'm kicking myself for missing that seam on the corner ruin. >TQI'm a brainlet so maybe I'm missing something, but I feel like stun and frag grenades are lame. 2/3rds chance for -1APL? And aren't there already a lot of terrible short ranged anti-horde options like flamers that no one takes? Krak grenades seem respectable if you're a horde fighting vs elites. And smoke is of course huge for protecting yourself on objectives.
>>97026180nice!
>>97026180>2/3rds chance for -1APL? Can actually be really huge, the real deciding factor for if they are worth using is if the enemy team can readily nullify APL-penalties. Hit a gellerpox hulk with a stun and it'll effectively be dead for the next activation, that sort of thing. Also being throwable from conceal makes them incredible as counteract options for marines to nullify next-turn threats.>And aren't there already a lot of terrible short ranged anti-horde options like flamers that no one takes?Flamers honestly aren't terrible anymore, especially not D4/4 variants. But frags are often very unimpactful, basically just an upgrade in case your standard ranged attack is even worse or to threaten hordes to stay apart if you have nothing else. Frags being neat in theory but useless in practice is tradition though.>Krak grenades seem respectable if you're a horde fighting vs elites. The real thing that determines if kraks are worth taking I think is how much better they are than your standard ranged weapon. I've recently figured out that they're huge for kasrkin against anything with 8+ wounds because it allows the shitters with lasweapons to deal some damage once the special weapons are spent.>And smoke is of course huge for protecting yourself on objectives.Smoke really feels like feast or famine, sort of same as stuns>enemy has any obscurement-ignoring at allBasically useless>enemy doesn'tSpend one action to activate nigh invulnerability at rangeThose would be my takes.
>>97021339>d&d 5e was 11 years agoFuuuug
Chugging away with these kasrkin. Sarge was inspired by that meme about how things are bad and will definitely get worse. It suits the team.
Holy shit can someone enlighten me on Ops?In the OP there's only a few Tac Ops but then I keep seeing cards like "Surveillance" and "Assassinate Target" - neither of which are not on ktdash.app or the .ru site. Are they old and deprecated/no longer used, or do you need to buy a mission pack to get them or something?TLDR>In Year of Our Lord 2025, which Ops cards are in use, and which are not?
>>97029584GW releases a new Approved Ops pack each year which includes new map layouts, crit ops, and tac opsWe are currently on the 2025 approved ops. Those are the ones you currently see on battlekit and ktdashKtdash actually has a setting to toggle back to the 2024 ops if you really want
>>97021561What is she eating?

>>97030633She is just yawning. But there is a photoshop of her eating a rat.
>>97030751If they still have them, i would say a better job than befor where most LGS didn't get any boxes.

>>97022775Likelihood of this happening?
I love killteam’s core rules but the extraneous stuff I feel majorly bounces people off. What I mean are the different types of ops, archetypes, the scouting stage minigame (wtf?), the resource management and then how practically each team has their own special gotcha equipment and multiple datasheets has their own gotcha abilities.I cannot be the only person who thinks this is simply way too much. At home and in my playgroup we play a significantly simplified version of the game, using just a few universal pieces of equipment and just focusing on one tac op and that’s it. It’s very refreshing and fun, “matched play” in this game is genuinely exhausting because you need a phd in each of your opponent’s factions list of gotchas and special secret powers that have no reflection in any way in their wargear on the model. We also use the old list building ways found in the 2022 compendium back when you could just build your own team as a default, almost everything is bespoke now. Anyone else running old teams like grey knights or tactical marines? I miss the idea of using a small squad from your main army as a spec ops team.
>>97030633Imaginary hamburger
>>97033751>the scouting stage minigameIs gone nowBut yes, there is some beauty in the simpler setups. Lots of abilities leads to cool operatives but "when everyone is super, no one is" definitely applies. Something needs to be a bit more intricate, but I'd personally prefer if it was the mission set that was more diverse.
>>97033751Well good news! Approved Ops 2025 got rid of the scouting stage in favor of a different initative system
>>97033791That’s how I feel as well. I like looking at the older killteam rulesets including heralds of ruin and seeing how bringing a single plasma gun can be a big deal. Whereas I used Warpcoven purely out of love for the idea (not realizing they were disgustingly overpowered) and I felt bad by all the retarded hijinx I could do. Yes, it’s fun, but it also felt kind of ridiculous that I had this long list of core rule breaking abilities that only someone who regularly plays against would know about.>>97033793I’ll have to check it out, I have been using whatever ruleset was in Hivestorm for the past year or so.
>>97033751You hit the nail on the head. The core gameplay system is excellent, one of the best GW has ever written, but it's bogged down by layers upon layers of extraneous bullshit that diminishes the overall experience. There are so many people I know who love the idea of KT conceptually but their eyes just start to glaze over when the full scope of what's involved in playing is explained to them. It's never going to happen because it's a consistent source of revenue but I'd absolutely love it if they killed bespokes entirely and went back to one faction corresponding to one army, with some options for taking all the basic infantry units in said army, and then some options for upgrading a small number of those operatives with extra abilities ala KT18's specalists. You don't need full-on listbuilding like KT18 but something perhaps a little more involved than the 2 fireteam setup from the KT21 Compendium would be the sweet spot.
Would the balance be shit if we ignore archetypes so that every team can use every ops?
>TQFRAGS - Trash. Terrible damage. Give it 3” Blast and 5 attacks then we can talk. Krak - Good damage and piercing, synergizes with many abilities. S Tier. Stun - Niche, like all -1 APL abilities. This is one I think I need to try and use more.Smoke - Strong AF.
>>97034001Do you have any recommendations? I have every single KT book since the reboot in 21. The shape system was so trash i can’t believe they really ran with that absolute shit.
>>97034434Some teams would get a massive boost, I believe. I mean currently any team with 10+ operatives and access to security gets a massive power boost from martyrs, which is already kinda wacky balance, so things are certain to change. Would still be a better balance than if you had done the same thing with the previous approved ops set.
>>97034434Archetypes do three things.First, it helps GW design teams to excel at certain things that hopefully synergize with their available tac ops. Likewise it prevents disgusting synergy - like imagine Raveners with Plant Banner on their tunnel as an example or Deathwatch being able to use Plant Device with their Scruvatore.Second, it makes it easier to predict which tac op your opponent might be playing before revealed.Third, it reduces the occurrence of both sides playing the same tac op, which tends to snowball the game harder than asymmetric ones.
>>97034506As far as I'm aware there hasn't been any attempts at doing a revamped Compendium for KT24 but it's not a project that's completely unfeasible. To go alongside it I think a packet of maybe 8 varied missions and a simplified equipment list would also be good to complete the "simple KT24" package.
bought the krieg kill team box 2 years agonever finished painting them...is it hard to find people who play kill team over regular 40k?
>>97021561>stuns-1 APL. And elite troops you'd actually want to put an APL penalty on like Angels of Death have ways to ignore it. Gee thanks GW.
>>97033791>But yes, there is some beauty in the simpler setups. Lots of abilities leads to cool operatives but "when everyone is super, no one is" definitely applies. Something needs to be a bit more intricate, but I'd personally prefer if it was the mission set that was more diverse.I just want a squad of guardsmen (for example). They don't all need to be a special snowflake with special rules - I don't need grenade man and shovel man.
>>97035193>That depends entirely on where you are which you didn't mention.I have no idea what sort of answer you're expecting when you don't even say what country you're in, nevermind which locality.
>>97035833wyrmblade has a single specialist out of the neophytes, not counting gunnerscan always run full warriors too
>>97035193In my town? No. In your town? How the fuck would I know?
Now we finally know why stealth suits stink so bad and why their design goes against the basic scoring rules of the game. It was the first design of the new hire. Why had to be stealth suits? We have an autistic ammount of space marine teams to fuck with, but no it had to be stealth suits.
>>97038753>why their design goes against the basic scoring rules of the gameNot following, in what way?I do think that keeping their power on the lower end to begin with and then buffing them later is the better option. With their 3" invisibility range, if they were also somewhat dominant in the meta, they would get nerfhammered and then remain sub-par forever, and/or be hated by the community. Going in the other direction has a better chance of eventually putting them in a good place while not making everyone loathe the idea of playing against them.
>>97038902Yeah sure just like kasrkin or any of the other retardedly designed teams.Next dataslate is the good one boys, this time for sure.
>>97038902>Team requires to stay on your side of the board.>Scoring requires all teams to leave their side of the board.Genius
>>97039328Since it cares about enemy positioning and not the suits', I think you have to view it the other way that other teams are forced to come to you and trigger the accuracy bonus if they want to score. I predict that successful stealth suit games are going to be ones where neither side gets a lot of kills but the stealth suits effectively get to decide who gets to go on the point without instantly losing too much.My real gripe with the team is the specialists being kinda dull. Too unique to appeal if you want a team that feels simple like discussed earlier in the thread, but several of them also don't feel special enough to provide new opportunities.>>97038936Don't remind me, my boys are still not feeling great. Balance is always moving in the right direction though, even if it's slow.
>>97039802Friendly reminder kasrkin are getting deleted next year, I hope you get something before that happens.
>>97041284Nothing is getting deleted you histrionic faggot
>>97041284Unless there are new news of a new edition in 2026 already, I assume you mean being declassified which is not going to do anything to the team's usefulness.
>>97029834nta but thank you for the helpful comment.
>>97041475New edition is 90% going to be in 2027 unless they decide to alter the 3 year edition cycle that they are following with everything (which honestly would be a good thing, 3 years for an edition is too fucking short.
I've been sleeping under a rock for a long while. Are any of these teams still rules legal in the current edition?>KT21 heavy intercessors>KT21 tyranid warriors>KT18 scions with 4 special weapons
>>97044696>>KT21 heavy intercessorsHeavy intercessors make a cameo in deathwatch but otherwise no.>>KT21 tyranid warriorsOnly legal tyranid team currently is raveners.>>KT18 scions with 4 special weaponsKasrkin are basically that, though you'd want the specialists and I assume by "4 special weapons" you don't mean the currently legal spread of one of each weapon but spamming the same weapon repeatedly.
>>97041284Who cares? Just kitbash a turret and run them as Aquilons.
Not following the chart. Like it's recommended to pick up 3 separate boxes of the deathwatch for the best killteam?
>>97048921Or this. Are you telling me I need eight boxes of inquisitorial agents?
>>97048921you need 3 boxes of deathwatch to have every single option available to youyou can get away with just 2 very easily by magnetising the gun on the bombadier/hordeslayer as their model is the same otherwise>>97048931similarly with IA you need at least one box of agents and one box of a requisitioned kill team or two boxes of agents to play, to play optimally you'll need something like 1 box of agents and 3 boxes of requisitioned teams, or 2 boxes of agents and 2 of requisitioned (you'd have to ask someone with a better understanding of the team about this)you'll need 2 boxes of agents and 6 boxes of requisitioned teams to have nearly every option available without magnetising/proxyingpractically speaking you'll never actually want the full 8 because there are some options that don't really get used.
>>97030633She's eating the physical manifestation of the exact chance that we will get a red butcher kill team.
I've painted up my battleclade, but before I can play them I've gotta perform a ritual on each servitor to get a warp spirit to possess it for optimal performance.
>>97050958 (me)Forgot the image of course
I just finished putting together the tomb world terrain. It’s all fitting together nicely, it looks really fun. I’m very much looking forward to playing on it.I want to change the structure of the joint ops a little bit to more of a gauntlet. Anyone have ideas? I would like there to be persistent wounds, some sort of simple xp tracking, and basically the idea is that you try to do all 6 missions with your team without getting wiped. You might heal 2d3 after each battle or something.
>>97050964Right, so this is what the finished team looks like, both as a group and with individual pictures. This may have ruined my ability to transport them easily but it should make up for it by being a baller concept.
Thinkin about getting my first KT, as someone who has only engaged with Warhammer 40k, what am I in for? Thanx in advance my peeps.
>>97053773A lot less listbuilding, placing a lot more of the fun and skill of the game in the turn to turn gameplay. Much less resources to be spent per full team build, making alternative projects more viable.Sadness, if you happen to like the factions that have poor representation in this game, or being pandered to if you like some others like night lords.
>>970489211 box is the minimum to play but you will be unable to run the best option for every matchup. 2 is reasonably enough but technically you need 3 for every option without magnetising.>>970489311 box of inquisition and 1 box of kasrkin will give you a strong team but you won't be optimal for tournament play.2 boxes of inquisition, 1 of kasrkin and 1 of (I think exaction squad?) gives you the competitive loadouts.2 inq, 1 kas, 1 Breachers, 1 exaction squad, 2 sisters of silence, 1 Death Korps will.give you every practical Loadout (you would still be missing scions but they are a strict downgrade to kasrkin).
>>97050964>>97053690Looks like a phenomenal crew. Are the ghosts attached via magnets?
>>97052038That sounds EXTREAMLY hard. Using the previous edition specops rules is probably the simplest option. Ad some money mechanic for objectives to buy heals or extra eqipment (d3credit for each objective, +3 for clearing all and 3 for winning mission. pay one credit for heal d3 and 3 for additional equipment for next mission, 5 to ressurect a unit or stuff like that)
>>97055616Unfortunately no, because of how they are attached there is no good way of doing that. I simply glued them on. It will suck when there is a roof that's too low or if they break off, but it's a valid sacrifice for the idea.
Tips on playing Aquilons vs Wreckas?
>>97056350Only Obvious stuff. try to shoot them befor they get in melee with your big guns, use your numbers advantage for objective play. Don't stand close to your othe rmodels, they have lots of explosive weapons.
>>97055756Thanks for the ideas, that’s all pretty smart. I just think a dungeon delve with NPOs and a small team is perfect for this. I don’t enjoy matched play with pickups but play joint ops very often. I’d say the KT pickup game community is the most comp focused of any game which is a shame due to how flavorful it could be.
>>97057250Yea i feel ya. Playing with randoms is really like playing catch on a minefield. Would love to play rpg joint ops as well.
>>97052038down/revive mechanic? was thinking of that plus an execution mechanic for space marine 2 type co op gamesrevives are either 2 ap or 1 ap but end your activation, and executions are from special conditions while fighting, like using 2 attack to finish off an npo that's 1 hit from death and ending your activation
>>97058602You know they did put out an official space marine 2 mission pack with mechanics like that you could steal
>>97058832I thought I had saved those but now I can't find them. I don't remember them involving heals and revives though
>>97058988nvm the revive is in the app and the datacards were images I have

(ideas for orks would be appreciated too). So base sice and rouhly same body profile would be best but as long as base fits, the rest is negotiable.
It took almost two days but the tomb world set has finally stopped giving off nauseating levels of fumes. I think this is the most amount of raw plastic I ever primed. How is everyone liking the tomb so far? Are they having fun?
>>97062678They're a very tricksy set of abilities and airstrike capabilities carrying a very squishy team of 10. The assassin is also a missile with breasts.
>>97055577>1 box is the minimum to play but you will be unable to run the best option for every matchup. 2 is reasonably enough but technically you need 3 for every option without magnetising. No you don't need three. Two boxes, one heavy intercessor torso and one terminator sized deathwatch shoulder pad gives you all 13 operatives. There are enough heavy intercessor arms, heads and backpacks for all three.
>>97064324>Two boxes, one heavy intercessor torso and one terminator sized deathwatch shoulder pad gives you all 13 operatives. But that requires buying a box containing a heavy intercessor and buying a deathwatch upgrade sprueSo 4 boxesThe chart makes the assumption that you don't convert or use bits from an existing collection because then the answer becomes too complex to include.
>>97064466you can get the starter set heavy intercessor on ebay easily but it requires more work to make the deathwatch arms fit
>>97026180 hereFinally finished the last building of the Volkus terrain. Just need to throw on some matte varnish. Very new to kill team, and want to bring a somewhat thematic melee driven white scars angels of death KT. What is stopping me from bringing an assault sergeant and grenadier and then just filling the rest of my squad with 4 assault intercessors? Got the upgrade sprue for them and love how the chainswords look lol
>>97093001The only thing stopping you would be that the intercessor gunner and the sniper/heavy bolter guy are considered quite good. Basically you'll be nerfing yourself and that's about it.Do consider however, that you could proxy using other teams. If you want speed memes, you could for example go with slaanesh legionaries. Even if you don't take any specialists, I think the 7" move and applying hit penalties to other teams would be more noticable than just going with aggressive + mobile chapter tactics.
Deathwatch are the free mini of the month for December. Article even says that the mini may not match the Disruptor Veteran in the picture. Think it'll just be 50/50 disruptors and head taker?
>>97093164Thanks ahah, got a box of legionairs on the way and am so running them as slannesh ahah
>>97093307Pretty sure they always write that about the free mini. Might be a way of safeguarding against supply shortages or such.Could be something for me to pick up actually, the one conversion my DW squad has that isn't entirely convincing is for the disruptor.
Almost looking like a proper kill team. Just a bit of washes and other details left.ffs how do you even paint chaos armies? im taking TWICE as long as the marines.
>>97093307supposedly some stores end up cutting up sprues of the proper kit, but I've only ever gotten the unique singles in the little box. I don't go for all of them though.
>>97096826I think I got an Eldar mini of the month like that once. It was just a dozen little bits from an actual kit, already off the sprue. I was really confused because I was only used to the easy free models at the time.
>>97096285Fitting for chaos, with either pain or fuck it embrace the ugly.
>>97053690>left the barrel undrilledummm
>>97098825Yes and I'll do it again
How are the PVE missions for narrative?More specifically, how well would the game allow for a narrative campaign to be played these days?
>>97099025Depends on what you see or seek in a narrative campaign. The fixed teams make it hard to get any kind of progression system without diy work. If you just want to play a story there is no problem. The pve missions usually are mini 3 mission storys.
>>97099025For Vanilla-KT its okay-ish. A lot of it comes from your own ability to make up a plot or situations based on your mission results. I had fun with it, but i dont think this is universally true for everyone. To improve the experience you could (should) add dedicated campaign mechanics for in between the missions. You can find some random event tables either in other games rulebooks (five parsecs from home or fallout wasteland warfare for example) or just online. You can either copy stuff from there direcly, or get inspired by it to make up your own simple house rules. SInce you play it solo, it should cause very little issues.
At what point did Kill Team 2017 jump the shark? Was it with Elites or Commanders?I just picked up the core rules for cheap because I'm fucking sick to death of compfaggotry and really miss list building and campaigns
>>97105244Elites was considered an incredible addition to the game, commanders as a funny side gamemode. Try checking out the Heralds of Ruin option btw.
For scout squad, is there a loadout that is generally more useful for the basic warriors?
i got the starter box, what chapter should i paint my loyalists no one blue please
>>97109477Imperial Fists
>>97109477CelebrantsOr fire lords if you think the gradient would kill you
>>97093307some minis of the month have been the dude in the store cutting up a kit, others are the mini shown as a standalone production. Pretty sure it's also for incase they run out and just hand out the new player push fit minis. If it's from the DW KT sprue, I will put on disguises to get more
>>97109477Blood Ravens
>>97109477>No blue onesThe fuck you have against my niggas in the Crimson Fists?
>>97109867my main army is thousand sonsi already have the the nemesis claw kill teammy CSM legionaries are alpha legion basedi have to much blue already man
>>97108585Short NOIt always depends on your playstyle and the enemy.
>>97110703But what if you only have one box?
>>97110731Magnets, sticks, bubblegum or don't play the best team for the job every time and only play the best team for your playstyle.
>>97110731I guess go with knivesone extra attack will help against most teams (with the notable exception being wolf scouts)the usefulness of the boltgun's extra range is map dependant in addition to being enemy dependantshotguns would probably be best against 8 wound or lower teams as the +2 makes it likely for you to hit all 4 shots, and in those situations your opponent either needs damage reduction or to make every save to live. The combat knife is still decent against them as it means you kill in 2 normals as opposed to 2 critsThis is still a major compromise that will hurt your ability to win most if not all the timethe real chimp answer is just figure out how scouts are being built for bighammer and do that (don't do this)
Are raveners or plague marines fun to play?
>>97110731Shotguns. 2+ to hit is great, as long as you have at least balanced on it, and you can use an APL boost + weapons training to meatshot someone in the face twice.Knives are nice but any target they're good against, shotguns handle just as well, and against marine teams you're much better off taking the shot at them for decent damage (about half of a marine's wounds) than sacrificing your guy by going into melee (which most likely gets your guy killed in exchange for a few wounds of extra damage). There are teams against which knives are better, like phobos strike team, but in general shotguns are more useful.Bolters are just worse than shotguns in almost all cases. The damage reduction means that you're likely to whiff completely instead, and once you're on engage you'll be just as dead as if you had ran up to shoot them in the face anyways.
>>97109477blood ravens or sons of the phoenix
>>97110794Raveners for me, yes. Many think differently though.Plague marines, no clue sry.
>>97109477Scythes of the Emperor
