If someone reads this with a strong critical eye, I think I might know where some of my pitfalls may be, because I think there's a few things I might be implying that I'm not showing because they might be too much for this "small-scale" story, and I'm getting a bit tired of chugging through occasional writer's block. I wanna be done with this and hit the story beats I've had in my head for a while now, finally put the OVAs in my head onto the page.

It's possible to have a generic strong guy feel unique based on the things surrounding him like his personality or connection to others etc. What slightly differentiates Naruto is that the powers are not in a vacuum similar to Worm's powers. The powers imply a history and a connection that will necessarily be the same as others who have picked the same powers before you. For example certain eyes belong to a clan and so your character likely comes from said clan in order to access it. It's still possible to differentiate past that, or to change the flavor of the power while keeping the same mechanical purpose, but it's something inherit to the cyoa and setting.

If a couple of anons could sustain an MP for YEARS simply through always posting it regardless of whether it’s being actively played or not, maybe that should be permitted for more MPs than just MHA, since only with that amount of time could someone reach the same conclusion about MHA that you have. Most MPs just aren’t given that time, and MHA feels like heavy favouritism to an outside observer. Suggestion: When the HLA actually does attack, it should be a chain. That way, each HLA member can have time to shine and several factions can counterattack, instead of just making it an HLA/Student Council affair for example, writing that confrontation should lend itself more to the nature of the MP instead of just having one guy writing what’s supposed to be a huge story moment

MHA's sole difference is that it didn't have one or two people. It had... maybe a dozen or so? Since it wasn't just one or two people, it kept going. That's the whole reason. If someone's goal is to kill mps, then you're never going to persuade them to stop. All you can really do is power through it and accept that any mp that can't power through it is screwed. It's to show how easy it can be to post an MP, sometimes a single page is enough, hell all MPs could be just a single page if we used rentry to compile them, so it doesn't take much effort to keep one posted. On the other hand keeping one alive is a different problem.

JITE was the only active MP for a while and there were complaints about it, but nobody did anything, robots reminded the anons that they can just post more MPs and see if they work. If the cyoa was posted not as an alternative to an already very active MP it clould have attracted more anons. In the end I guess it did its job but had to die for it.
