It's been this bad since Kamigawa Neon Dynasty came out. Really, Kaladesh was the first set that really seemed out of place, but people incapable of nuance will point to Urza and his golems and pretend it's the same thing, so it's not worth having that conversation. Also Innistrad, which was the first set to really try to imitate specific tropes since Kamigawa, but it was a definite change from previous sets. But honestly, Kamigawa Neon Dynasty was what cinched it. Cyberpunk bullshit opened the door for sci-fi secret lairs, bullshit like Fallout being introduced to Magic when it has nothing to fucking do with high fantasy, just flooding the fucking game with Universes Beyond shit that ruined the game. I like (some) UB and magic would’ve died without it. UB has added interesting mechanics like the bending elements. Also standard with seasons is a shit format and I’m glad commander is more popular as it’s more fun. Everything else is honestly correct.
