Today is the day!For what you might ask? I've been DMing a D&D 5e 2014 game now for 2 1/2 years roughly and were finally getting to the part that I've been looking forward to for so long. The party used to be 7 retaliative strangers, I mostly wrangled up some newer players with a few veterans to help with tiny optimizations in game actions, and assist with getting used to roleplay. The meat and potatoes of the campaign is centered all around the big dude of the MM himself, the Tarrasque. At about around session 5 of the game, the group came across an abandoned stone step-pyramid that was being utilized by an inept deathcult. Deeper into the interior the found that the pyramid-not-temple thing they wandered into was actually created by Druids to contain a vaguely described beast at bay within the heart of the structure. >Green text story goes here>...>Now present dayWell today is finally the day that I've been really looking forward to, the Chekov's gun comes off the mantle, and boy is it gonna ring LOUD!I don't foresee the party of four level 13 adventurers actually attempting to fight it tonight, rather trying to get away from it as the pyramid collapses around where its emerging from. The plan is to combine each Tarrasque from all the different iterations from the different editions of the D&D monster manual. A little bit of regen, giving it spikes that it can throw for ranged a ranged option, even throwing in some player side counter measures. (Do enough damage to a section of the creature, the reflective carapace is nullified in an arc that a caster can exploit, or burning its legendary resistances then depletes its legendary actions per turn). And of course, bringing back its near immortality. The 2nd edition clause that requires either spending a Wish, enacting a divine miracle, or replicating some other massive action to prevent the creature from walking off getting killed just a few days prior.I'd love to hear peoples thoughts on this approach.
>>97109300>7 retaliative strangers>retaliativeYyyeah no, fuck RPGs, I'm busting out Diplomacy.
>>97109322I will admit, getting 7 other adults at the table was rough some times, but overall I learned alot and I wouldn't mind giving a bigger table another shot, as long as everyone there is serious about playing and can share spotlight well.Do people still play Diplomacy these days? I haven't heard about that in a hot minute.
