>RPGD&D 5e theater faggots>TCGMtG sloppers>wargameAoS trannies>>97126082You did a good job of explaining precisely why these people fucking suck. They're strangely coddled and totally lacking in imagination, like they want their brutal agrarian fantasy world with elves and orcs and dwarves to have people who all have the same sensibilities and retarded political concerns as modern upper middle class LA liberals. They're also very annoyingly intolerant in that regard, like any NPC who disagrees with "their character's" (their) ideology has to fucking die on the spot immediately. That and the Marvel-ification of the RPG genre as a whole, with god power PCs who can never ever die. There's also the disgusting attention whore need to play exhaustingly overbearing ~*le unique*~ Black vitiligo crippled lesbian autistic quirk chungus half-elf in a combat wheelchair who only speaks in Reddit & Morty ">tfw too intelligent" jokes and neofeminist dogma, instead of just Barry the Bandit human ranger who likes pussy and beer. One more thing, I've noticed that these types tend to not have consumed any primary classic fantasy/scifi media at all. They don't read LOTR, they don't read ASOIAF, they don't read WoT, they don't read Asimov or Dune or Jules Verne or Wells or Bradbury, usually they've just seen Tard Wars and the DUNC movies or maybe the LOTR movies and GoT show, or fucking young adult slop like HP or Hunger Games. These ignorant niggers will WATCH A FUCKING MOVIE once and then claim "nerd" status, because somehow that's become desirable now. It's all so tiresome.
>>97120476> What /tg/ related IP has the worst fanbase and why? From this site alone and speaking as someone who regular'd /40kg/ /awg/ and /trench/ I'd say it is the Trench Crusade community on this site at least. I don't even think Trench fans like the Trench Crusade ip. If I had to guess they just feign activity believing they are spiting boogeymen, often Arch fanboys and chuds that are still rent free in their heads. This is also with the hipster complex that people in this hobby develop when they enjoy an ip that isn't Warhammer, but that's with all alternative wargame communities. I had it too.The Trench community is immune to any criticism because they have pre-programmed responses even if it is honest criticism. This is because of genuine Archfanboys and trolls, but it seems most trolls moved on but Trenchers haven't. There's a few trolls still there sadly.Typical Trench Crusade copes include: >Archfan (rent free) >concern troll>troll>chud>rightoid>poor (with the release of the GW priced 8 plastic minis)>Shill (GW/Warhammer usually)I'd even go so far as to say that they're somehow worse than 40kiddies here because at least 40kiddy autism is funny to look at and even ignoring that there is a genuine community that shares model pics and can be funny. With the Trench Crusade community there's barely any modelposters to speak of even by non-Warhammer game standards and there's somehow more bitterness than the 40k general. The bitterness of /trench/ is probably why it isn't as active as it should be with TC's popularity. I bet most would be regulars moved to plebbit or Discord after lurking. One thing I've noticed about comparing 40kiddies to Trenchers is that at least 40kiddies will acknowledge that the company and game and ip is silly, inconsistent and mistreated. Trenchers won't even allow for such thoughts to manifest.>>97126154>they talk with all the obnoxiousness of Warmahordes fans when that game was actually successfulThis too.
>>97128918I don't disagree with you man but it also sounds like you need to just stay away from trenchfags. I don't like TC either so I just ignore it and barely ever see it online as a result
>>97120476Anything to do with White Wolf games, specially the fanboy-writers
>>97120476Critical Role. For context I mostly play OSR and adjacent games, my political opinions are illegal in a significant portion of the world and I think that the last ~40 years of D&D have been various flavors of mistakes and that 5e is one of the worst offenders. My personal opinion on Critical Role, after giving it a shot in good faith (twice), is that that CR is eminently faggoty insipid theater-kid swill that's only a game if you squint and I think less of people who claim to enjoy it in the same way that I think less of adults who enjoy Marvel movies or who collect Funkos. In short, I find it stupid, boring and devoid of value. But I can easily ignore on-topic CR threads, and for the most part the fans seem to keep to their own threads. What I hate about CR is the fact that every goddamn week for YEARS there have been multiple blatant shitposting threads about CR - about Matt Mercer, about some e-celeb drama going on with the cast, complaining about the damage it's done to the hobby, whatever. All of these threads are covering ground that has been retreaded at length dozens if not hundreds of times seemingly just for the sake of doing so, and at this point I dislike the people who keep making the negative threads and the people who use them as an excuse to cry about dangerhairs and zoomers and e-celebs and "muh modern D&D" more than I dislike CR itself. These threads are a blight on the entire board.>inb4 le weeds comic

>>97129074>but it also sounds like you need to just stay away from trenchfagsI mean. Maybe the trenchfags that browse /tg/ in general need to be avoided.I can't really make a judgement about the Discord or Reddit communities around Trench Crusade because I don't use those outlets. But I'd imagine that it would be a culture of toxic positivity where egg shells of a different kind are to be walked around.Whereas the Trench community is overly negative.
>>97128918Good post. TC sucks and will fade away like War Machines and Turnip did. Complete lack of self awareness by TC fans while 40k fans have no problem calling out GW bullshit
>>97120476Probably something like Thirsty Sword Lesbians where people only like it to show their fealty to a political cult.
>>97129948this, very well-put. they certainly have their own community and stick to themselves, which is lovely. i think it's nice that some YouTube guys have found a way to use a game as a new form of entertainment, and if an audience likes it, great. at best it's just not relevant to my interests the same way storygames were.BUT unlike, say, Dogs in the Vineyard, it absolutely does leak out in a way where it affects other things. i remember IRL games being interrupted with chatter about Critical Role or how X should be more like Critical Role. CR became their template for D&D or even RPGs in general.it's kind of funny because for all the skub flamewars, edition wars, GNS theory shit, a web series came out of nowhere and had way more effect overnight.
>>97137295Those fanbases are actually pretty chill since they are generally small and have people that get along. You won't play that unless you're already into that so it's not like you can end up in those circles by accident.
>>97120476Battletech
MTG is the most damaging product for traditional gaming as a whole. Game stores die because of Wizards’ horrible mismanagement of the product and the stores tendencies to get fucked by bad releases. Only game stores I see that survive have MTG as an afterthought.

>>97140141Who could even conceivably be worse?Magic the gathering? D&D? None of them will ever match the sheer autistic screeching and hyper consumerism.
>>97120476If secondaries are included then it is obviously 40k. But if they aren't then it can't be them because irl 40k players I've met are usually nice, but secondaries are always obnoxious.Without secondaries it's harder to say because there is so much choice, normie dnd fans are pretty bad, Magic fans are awful. Somebody already mentioned CR, that specific kind of DnD fan is the worst. Some friends of friends once insisted on watching Vox Machina and I think it's the worst show I've ever seen in terms of dialogue, the worst thing is that these people can't even be called secondaries because they actually do play the game.>>97137295Thirsty Sword Lesbians doesn't have a fanbase, it's a meme game designed to sell copies to identity obsessed women who won't actually play it, of which there aren't that many.

That also goes to autistic screeching, there isn't even anything left to discuss of the game anymore it's just autistic shrieking about UB and every format being dogshit.

MTG, Trench Crusade, Critical Role. That last one sure isn’t helped by the fact that Matt Mercer constantly posts shitty bait threads on /tg/. I’m surprised this is even a question.
>>97158447>That last one sure isn’t helped by the fact that Matt Mercer constantly posts shitty bait threads on /tg/does he actually? I don't know cause I filter everything shittical role related
>>97158474That’s mostly a joke because there are so many of them and he’s stated before that he goes on here. It’s a non-zero chance at least.

>>97158519Self-shilling is usually pretty noticeable, Adam Faguesa spammed himself on /ck/ like the narcissist he is for years before finally caving and buying an ad when even the mods were sick of him and started purging his threads. Mercer's a bit more subtle if he is but honestly he blew up hard enough to not really need to care what this website thinks of him.
It's Magic. Easily. I was into Warhammer for like 6 years, I've played D&D longer than that. I only got into Magic in the last couple years and I don't think people into other hobbies realize that Magic is FULL of honest to god funkopop collecting redditors that will clap as Hasbro rapes the game into oblivion as long as they jingle nostalgia and memes in front of players as they do it.At least Warhammer fans have the common sense to hate GW, even if they are helplessly addicted to plastic crack and will pay any amount of money for it.
>>97158953GW genuinely cares about the legacy of their games even if they make retarded decisions from time to time. They have plenty of start collecting boxes, there's no artificial scarcity on game pieces, their stores give new players free painting and playing lessons. They want the game to live on through new players.Hasbro wants to squeeze every dollar out of MTG and leave it to die. Despite performative passes at new player friendliness this game is designed for manchildren scalpers and paypigs that guzzle down whatever new slop Wizards throws into the trough. Less cards per pack, blocks of text on every single card, balance out the window, cost cutting on foils so hard that non-foil cards are often less expensive than the foil version because the cheapass material curls and bends itself, no LGS selling packs at msrp anymore. There's a catalogue of sins from MTG and it's in their general so I'm not gonna bother listing everything terrible Wizards has done.
>>97138328Yeah Battletech is at just the right point between well-known and obscure where things have annoying fanbases.
Battletech is horribly woke and hamfisted
WH40K is the low hanging fruit here, but I've more consistently had shitty times with the players of literally any collectible card game. Magic, Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh, literally doesn't matter. I think the base premise of "collect em all" mentality draws in the most insufferable hyperfocused types of personalities. They're the original gacha players that will brag about how hard they whale and try to relate epic stories to you about how they pulled off this one combo, completely divorced from the reality that everyone in the room is gritting their teeth waiting for them to shut the fuck up about this nuanced description of a thing literally nobody cares about or respects outside of the people already waist deep in it. They aren't as bad as, but carry a very similar social 'smell' to, My Little Pony, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Homestuck fans in that they can't remember they're fanatics and most people are not like them and don't want to hear about their hyperfixation.
>>97159081Magic also has the highest number of "influencers" sucking corporate cock. Even the small shortform creators jerk off literally every set that comes out unless it flops after release at which point they will 180 because the risk of them getting hunted down by Hasbro for tanking sales has passed by that point. And they're right to fear Hasbro considering they essentially put "who told you not to buy this set?" in a fucking surveyBut you'll see this, even when influencers do get critical of Magic they will still REVERE Mark Rosewater from WotC even though he's been proven to be a lying corporate stooge time and time again. Pic fucking related
Battletech players are the most chill. Wtf are these anons talking about
>>97161267This is very aggrevating.
>>97161311Seems they just misread the thread and are instead using it to complain about lore they don't like rather than actual players. Probably Warhammer players themselves. Wouldn't worry about it.
>>97161311i have literally never had a problem with a battletech player
>>97120476I'd say Pokemon, Yugioh and Magic the Gathering because of the scalping problem and the lengths scalpers will go to alone.
>>97120476Wargamers that play wargames that aren't Warhammer typically develop a superiority complex that they aren't playing Warhammer for some reason.I'm speaking from experience. Warmahordes players had it a lot. Anybody got that "come play douchemachine" pic that summed up WarmaHordes players?
