Henlo my dear fa/tg/uys.
Any suggestions for a good medieval mass combat system? I am homebrewing a gladiator dueling gayme based on The Riddle Of Steel (best melee system IMHO, very nice compared to anything I have seen), and part of the progression system is the PC becoming a freedman (if he survives long enough in the arena and doesn't piss off his lanista and gets send to the mines) and being able to sign up for the army (as a member of the auxiliary since legions were only for citizens) as a way to gain a land grant and citizenship (which can be inherited by his eldest son, which becomes the PC when current PC dies).
I have some good ideas for events and mechanics during the gladiator part of the gayme, but the soldiering part is feeling kinda hollow since I am only using the Mass Combat suggested rules from the Companion book for the Riddle of Steel system (I like the fact that those have mechanics for the PC to be able to somewhat affect a battle thru heroic actions, but the mass combat mechanics portion of the rules seem kinda hollow and not properly fleshed out). So, any suggestions?

Hail Caesar got a Wars of the Roses supplement recently. That game's pretty good, very similar to Black Powder.
