Can using bandai/third party mechs for Tau ever work, or is it cursed to look kind of weird?
>>97123935Do what you want. Tau are fucking cringe faction though
>>97123935macross would be a better proxy considering tau are basically a rip off of old school battletech, and battletech originally used designs from macross before harmony gold started acting like massive faggots.
FOR THE GREATER WEEABOO!!!
>>97123935just paint them in your armies colours and base them appropriately, job done.
I mean you'd only be able to get away with it at an LGS and not a "real" GW match. Plus your opponent would have to be ok with you using proxies. But otherwise sure.
>>97124332What macross models would you say are closest in the style?
>>97125143probably the battroid valkyries and destroids
You can but they're probably going to be obviously from a different scale. Most larger mechs are gonna have thinner torsos with tiny cockpit hatches. Tau also have a large amount of tau-specific bobbins and details that you're not gonna find elsewhere so it's unlikely to fit in with the rest of your army.
>>97123935They already look kind of weird, its fine.
>>97123935It's the Tau that look bad, not the mechs.
>>97125272Yeah, but you can always convert them.
>>97123935Trying to do something similar myself right now actually.
>>97129566goodness
>>97123935Looks just as retarded and out of place as Tau always have so why not
>>97125143I just remembered, you can always look into DP9 games like heavy gear or jovian chronicles. I think that there might be a scale issue but if you want to proxy troops it's a good option. also they are relitevly inexpensive compared to gw minis.
>>97130591to add to this maschinen krieger also has miniatures, they are a bit more expensive and ship from australia only for some weird reason, but it's another option.
>>97123935If you're going to use better models you may as well play better games than 40gay.
>>97123935you can technically proxy anything as long as the people you are playing with are okay with rules wise, it wouldn't really work since gunpla are typically bigger, have different dimensions than what you'd be proxying it as, and aren't exactly great for moving on the table top since they move and are usually more fragile you'd never be allowed to use non-GW products in a GW tournament
