>What is it about?
Fantasy adventuring in a world balanced on the edge of Neutrality, teetering towards Good or Evil.

>Why is it interesting?
Generic fantasy world with plenty of space for adventures, dungeons and the machinations of evil. It's not too detailed and the gods and major NPCs don't interfere much, so there's plenty of space for adventurers to make their mark.

>Should I care about it?
Yes, if you want to play an old-school adventure. It also pays to learn the history of your hobby.

I will be frank. You are being autistic.

>What is it about?
Castle Greyhawk expanded universe
>Why is it interesting?
If you like sandbox style and old school game aspects (*crawl, henchmen, dominion) this setting easily accomodate them.
>Should I care about it?
How the fuck should i know? Here some reasons i guess:
- made by Gygax;
- it's the setting were Gygax's novels (Gord the rogue) take place;
- it's the setting where the wizard that made the named spells (Rary, Mordenkainen, Melf, Otto, Bigby, etc..) are;
- it's the setting were a lot of the original PC (the aforementioned wizards, Melf the male elf, bob the fighting-man later known as Lord Robilar, etc...) had their adventures;
- a lot of space to fill with npc are usually not above 10th level (with due unique exceptions), so the PC can really became actual protagonists and driving forces of the setting.

IT'S THE ORIGINAL D&D SETTING. Technically, Blackmoor came out first, initially inspired by Conan novels and gothic horror. Gygax loved it so much he and Arneson agreed to co-develop a set of rules, and Gygax quickly developed a castle and dungeon of his own, "Castle Greyhawk", set within his portion of the Great Kingdom map. Later it become Greyhawk Setting and remained the big D&D setting, until Forgotten Realms took over.

There's also Wilderlands of High Fantasy which is awesome

That's Birthright.
>>
I just really like the campaign map and have used modified versions of it for several games that had Hex Crawling in it.

I know very little about the setting proper beyond it being a kinda inbetween of the old school sword & sorcery and the bigger stakes high fantasy stuff the kids like.

Wilderlands was not an official D&D setting. It was created by a third party.

Greyhawk was the original OFFICIAL TSR setting long before Forgotten Realms.

>Wilderlands was not an official D&D setting. It was created by a third party.
Wrong, it was both. JG had an actual D&D license.

Ultimately on this site, any engagement, good or bad, is what bumps threads and people have long since figured out that negative attention gets you far more. You are subconsciously trained to type like a passive aggressive faggot by being here.
>>
>>97142163
This. JG had a special deal with TSR
>>
It's about a magical cataclysm that forced humans out of the west and into lands inhabited by elves, dwarves, and primitive humans. These displaced people have slowly been incorporated into the new kingdoms that have formed from the fallen empire.

Now these truly medieval style nations are on the brink of all out war as evil moves to take power everywhere. These wars last for years and reshape the landscape in much of the Flanaess.

It's an intriguing backdrop for any number of adventures, with varied locales that don't feel kitchen sinked in.

Hi Frank you seem to be posting under Anonymous still
>>
>>97142169
Don't give him that much credit. QuestionAnon is a sociopath that intentionally makes these Google Search threads to hurt people and farm their pain the same way a catfish misleads her victims out of boredom. Sometimes I forget to sage the threads when posting so I'm sorry for the ones I bump.

Still doesn't make it an official D&D setting. Just a licensed third-party setting.

The only official settings are: Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, Darksun, Planescape, Ravenloft, SpellJammer, Birthright and Mystara. All of which were published by TSR.

If it wasn't published by TSR, it wasn't official. Otherwise, every single third party setting that came out for 3.0/3.5 would be an official setting since they also had a license with WotC (the OGL).

I just swap Forbidden Realms adventures in Greyhawk.

>>
>>97150496
Oh, fuck you.

I was tired when I wrote it and forgot a couple. Give me a break. You know what I meant.

And YOU forgot Kara-Tur, The Horde, Maztica and Hollow World.

>never mind that Kara-Tur, Maztica, The Horde and Al-Qadim are part of the Forgotten Realms and Red Steel and Hollow World are part of Mystara.
>>
>>97157549
The difference is that Al-Qadim was orginally conceived of as its own campaign world and just tacked onto FR last minute. The others were conceived as supplements.

>Red Steel is part of Mystara
Did not know this was the case actually, got me there.
>>
Then what about the Dark Moon Chronicles? After all the locations in the gameboard/comic book/videogame are mentioned on the Greyhawk map.

>What is it about?

It isn't, it's a DnD setting
>Should I care about it?
Only if you plan to use it.

Was the Horned Society detailed anywhere in a specific book, in a Living Greyhawk supplement or an adventure? I know it was explained a little in one of the Gord books and has an entry in the Gazetteer but it's quite short and doesn't explain much.

Does any anon have a PDF of the old module G6: "cloud islands of the sakhut"? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Never mind, found it. It's part of the Silver Anniversary The Liberation of Geoff combo package of adventures.
