Realistically there is no point to having Generic Troopers- Cadian, Catachan, Krieg and then artillery and officer versions of these. If it had worse support then it would make more sense for each of these to be specialists- cadians as organized troops, kriegs as numerous and brave and expendable, catachans as stealth forces. But they don't lean too hard in this, hence why catachan inexplicably had their own artillery teams that aren't really stealthy. The ones who fill this role are lesser regiments, like the Attilans, but I would argue they don't have foot soldiers because they're space Huns anyway, brutally mogging the space marine equivalent (white scars). Then you get the 'had stuff, mught get stuff again' subarmies like -all of the ones mentioned here-, meanwhile the space marine equivalents are lol who the fuck plays raven guys or cranberry fists anyway hahaha you only need ultramarines and space yiffs hahaha iron hands more like why would genetically superior supersoldiers need cybernetics when we have admech haha.The 'less support' only applies to lacking the supplements which would provide a broader focus on lore and rules for these sub-armies the way Blood Angles current have, but the reality is that Krieg refresh mogs the fuck out of Blood angles refresh.

It's simply reality that Guard has a lot more support for literally who cares subfactions, while who cares marines get a named hero or something and an upgrade pack and then get left to rot. There is simply no reason why all these guard regiments that are functionally interchangeable are not upgrade sprues or kitbashes but whole subfactions, while marine subfactions with mentionedhere unique things are just utterly irrelevant and the same as other marines on tabletop and even in some cases like white scars or raven guys the generic units that 'fit' them don't really exist or exist in a decent form, like jump troops with lightening claws for the ravens.
