Post old staples that still fuck

It's simple in concept. Just give it some fairy flavour, whatever
>>97138064They did, and it's UB sloppa
>>97138064The answer always has been, and always will be, "skeleton support commander". It must be a running joke at Wizards that they never create one under any circumstances

>>97138193Youre retarded or esl, maybe even both!
>>97138202It'd be very cheap. Despite the difference in mana cost and not being *exactly* the same, we've seen this effect before. Diplomatic Escort is another example on a creature

>>97138349Next game night, suggest that everyone swap decks for some novelty factor.Give your buddy a deck with lots of interaction. Not a full control list (he won't know how to pilot or win with that) but something like a black deck with 10-15 kill spells. It's like touching a hot stove, in reverse. You can tell him to run removal but he won't. You need to SHOW him how it FEELS to always have it.

>>97138609It's been said over and over and over but I'll say it again: this format was completely doomed when retards started optimizing the fun out of it. I've watched games that end on turn 4 from people tutoring out infinite combos. Just how is that fun??
Does anyone have a play a Mr. House, treasure subtheme, deck? I have a copy of Jaws that is just collecting dust and was wondering if its a good include? Anyone tried this out yet?

Have you thanked them today?
>>97138638>Just how is that fun??I don't do it because I necessarily want to. I do it because I just got turn 4 combo'd yesterday and it's a dog-eat-dog world.

>>97138760Every day I wish it was legal
What's a deck you enjoy regardless of winning or losing?
>>97138638Singleton legacy is fun. I consistently get a turn 3 game winning combo off with my combo deck and it's lots of fun. Assembling the combo and managing to play through counterspells and silences against 3 other players trying to stop me is very satisfying. Also games don't last 2 hours so if someone wins quick we can just reshuffle and start a new game. Battle cruiser metas are fun, but so are high interaction optimized metal. There are so many ways to play magic and different deckstyles to build, that's what makes the game so great.
>>97138780This is why it's dishonest to say proxies are the problem, it's players that are WAACfags. Tell him to either chill out or leave the playgroup, there's no two ways about it.
>>97138738they cost less than 2 dollars
>>97138738Why do you care so much about what other people think and impressing people? Why are you trying to make people think you're cool with your magic deck? You sound lame and gay.
>>97138779That sounds awesome. I'd love to play with you.
>>97138780Oh hey it's another "proxies aren't the problem, stupid assholes are the problem" post. My group proxies nearly everything between $1-$10 and has no problem proving the cards they proxied are that cheap with scryfall on our phones. We don't run *any* cards over $10, unless they raise in price after we added them to our decks. Haven't had a problem in 8 years
>>97138780Honestly you probably should have just allowed people to freely proxy whatever purely mana-giving lands they want from the beginning without the expectation of buying them like other cards. Your friend is partly right in that true duals are expensive due to artificial scarcity rather than power, and if it's just 1 or 2 they don't make that much of a difference to whether a deck wins or not. But a 10x more expensive mana base than the rest of the table is a distinct advantage and he's being wilfully ignorant if he won't admit thatKinda too late to establish that rule that now that your imbecile pal went on an anime training arc and torpedoed his financial wellbeing on cardboard though, so good luck having that conversation

>>97138813>Tell him to either chill out or leave the playgroup, there's no two ways about it.Yeah, the issue is I don't think I have enough pull in the group to get them to agree to that, though if it comes down to it, I'll probably leave because I don't feel like playing the same deck or get stomped.>>97138829He was part of the group that only wanted to proxy things we would buy, otherwise people would do things like Tabernacle and Bazaar of Baghdad, and other very powerful and expensive RL cards or at least that was his concern. It was less about the fact it was lands, and about the fact he couldn't go a single week before breaking the agreement that pissed me and others off. They are still the best lands, however, and I would have been fine with it if we said they were fine, but we didn't.

Well, Abigale speaks a form of sign that uses feather motions in place of facial expressions–puffed out, slicked back, slightly raised, etc. And yes, I made a mask of construction paper feathers and modeled expressions for myself until I was confident she could make herself understood.

are non miirym/ur-dragon dragon decks based or cringe?
>>97139930They're both fun in different ways. I think the way I would word it is that they are both explosive and they are both good for a long game in different ways.Goreclaw you get creatures out faster, absolutely, but because she gives trample she's still incredibly relevant in the late game. Also the discount is always good, though it's definitely more significant early.Xenagos absolutely takes a little more effort to get started but he's incredibly sticky and the access to Red means he has a more diverse range of threats. Once you get up and running you can send something extremely threatening towards someone every turn. For him, the haste gives explosiveness. You can go from having no creatures on the board(but having Xenagos) to sending a 40/40 towards a player instantly. It's very scary to be on the receiving end of that. They're both great decks, but I'm biased towards Xenagos because its my oldest commander deck and a card that I pulled from a pack myself, I've always had fun with it. I built Goreclaw because I think mono color is extremely underrated and underplayed in general. It's satisfying to take down 3+ color piles with only a single color. Goreclaw is awesome

when people get mad at combo decks, what do they mean by combo exactly? doing infinite of something specifically?or would winning by plopping toralf and one shotting people with blasphemous act count as combo and make people angry already

>>97140340by that logic you can't play yargle and multani with xenagos as you now have a 36 power creature out of nowhere with 2 cards
>>97140337>>97140340Specifically, people are usually upset by hand combos. Most people don't get upset at craterhoof or moonshaker in the same way they get upset about combo, because the pieces were visibly on the board and they had a chance to interact. When someone plays two cards from hand and says everyone takes infinite damage and they win, it feels a bit anticlimactic. There's also a knowledge component. Winning through combat damage is clear and obvious. I can see Ghalta about to take a bite out of my life bar. When someone plays an untapper artifact and ramps a bit with it, and then a few turns later they go infinite with it, the loss came not from a lack of board awareness or threat assessment, but from an interaction between two specific cards the player just didn't know about.A lot of decks just aren't equipped to handle combo wins, and combo wins are the most effective way to win so it's generally considered a high-power archetype which also makes it unwanted at lower power tables, even if it's a low powered combo deck.
>Scryfall is currently offline for maintenance.

Don't play two cards that can win you the game on the spot if it's not something they could reasonably interact with (ie give them a turn cycle at least). If you can win the game on your next turn, let them know. Yes, this makes the game harder for you, but that's only because you're giving players meta knowledge that they might not have. Knowledge that a more advanced player would be expected to have. And honestly, it feels better to win because you played well, more than because your opponents just played poorly. If you ignore everything else, just understand this:Commander is the casual format for retard babies. You should be playing to have fun, not playing to win. Yes, winning is fun, but sometimes you need to be the bigger man and accept responsibility for other people's fun too. If you know you can win the game with a card in your hand and it's unlikely anyone at the table could deal with it, choosing not to play that card and letting everyone else duke it out while you sit back knowing you could have won is, genuinely, an option. Sometimes it's better to just give the other guys a win once in a while to give them an ego boost.

>>97141378$110 million profit is still a relativw nothing burger, not a massive hit like you're trying to spin it. A massive hit is Lilo and Stitch making a billion, or James Cameron's Avatar slips making two billi
>>97141378>Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem had a production budget of approximately $70 million, with marketing (Prints & Advertising) costs estimated at around the same amount, totaling roughly $140 million in combined expenses before accounting for overhead or distribution, making it a relatively modest-budget animated film that proved profitable due to strong merchandising and streaming revenue. >>97140978You know, I wouldn't be surprised if they do that one of these days. Unless I'm misreading things it looks like the most recent new skeleton was Ozox which is pushing it nearly two years ago so it's clear they just don't give a shit about the tribe. >>97141832this makes skeletons more playable in standard than edh
>>97143074>children dont play mtgThen it's for chuds and chuds dont like gay shitEither way it's easy to understand why UW is worthless and why UB exists in the first place
>>97143188it's quite funny to counter a split second card with a morph creature
>>97143209Yes, but that's like literally the only thing that can and he didn't have blue.
>>97143151changeling "tribal tribal" commanders, so Morophon or Ur-Dragonthey think they have this cute and quirky idea but in reality its just Slivers in disguise
>>97141605AI tends to write like this if you ask it to write an intelligent character. Not accusing this flavor text of being AI; just pointing out an observation since I use AI writing a lot for solo roleplay.
>>97141605I can forgive nonsense terms like parageometrics or whateverWhat's more jarring is, ofc, how hard wotc virtue signals>guys hasbro has no money what do we do to keep this dead weight afloat? What demo has the moolah?>i know! Let's pander to blacks! And in the worst ways possible too!Lol
>>97141522Have you never fantasized about what an ideal card for your deck would look like? It doesn't need to be Rhystic Tithe levels of bullshit. If lorwyn has a 1-drop green fairy rogue with flying I'll basedpog because my deck wants that so bad.
>>97143275Black nerds are the only niggas with money so it makes sense
>>97143275They aren't pandering to blacks. They are aware their efforts may attract a small percentage of black players, bit in reality they are pandering to the mostly white left audience who are the ones who will buy all of these "inclusive cards" and now won't attack them endless in public forums for "lack of diversity and inclusiveness."
>>97143275I think the real problem I have with Zimone is the problem I also have with Aminatou: I have no idea who the fuck they are. All of their cards are just them being brainy (or in Ammy's case, cryptic) without any real understanding of their goals or personalities. Like I'm pretty fucking bad at knowing anything about characters anymore, but I kinda have a feel for who people like Kaito and The Wandering Emperor are from what they say and what's said about them on cards, and similar things can be said of characters like Winter. I don't know SHIT about Eldraine, but I get who Rowan and Will are because you can get it off their fucking cards.Like somehow Zimone was all over duskmourne and I have no idea what the fuck she did at all. I'm not going to read a bunch of short stories to try a piece it together either if she's not interesting to me to begin with because all she appears to be is the black kid on cards that talks like a smartass.
>>97143297They're also pandering to me since I think she's pretty hot at least before duskmorne
>>97143316Magical negro stereotype. They should read some Stephan King novels if they are going to pull the trope so much, maybe they could then at least reach his level of character designs with them, though that's not saying much King barely fleshes them either but they look like anime protagonists compared to what WotC does with them.
>>97143316>ninja>empress>kingKaito and co. are easy enough to understand because of their jobs we automatically think good cool shit about themBut not only is a professor inherently less cool zimone also happens to be presented as a know it all nerd and everyone has had a run in with that kind of person in highschool, throwing you off from the fantasy; nobody likes those people, not even fellow nerds
>>97143362Dr. Sheldon Cooper is one of the most beloved fictional characters in the past 20 years and that's exactly what he is.>Imagine liking the Big Gay TheoryNot the point, a lot of people do like the archetype, if it's well presented, but yes, Zimone is not.
Image limit reached so fuck it.NEW THREAD>>97143392>>97143392>>97143392
>>97143389Sheldon isnt supposed to be taken seriously but we're supposed to take zimone seriously and that's the key differencd
>>97143199Don't yuck my yum!
