Unusual for the thread to go down so fast. Let's hope this one doesn't.To answer my own TQ, I got to play with this custom terrain the other day at a local-ish store I don't usually visit. A bit too blocky and large to make for an actually good table, but still beautiful to play on. As for the game itself, it was sort of over after I landed an eradication pistol shot at the start of T2 that dealt 31 damage and then got to retreat safely.
I really wish I could just slam out a few of the easy teams I have waiting in the pile but life gets in the way
Why did we even leave GWSG in the first place? Is this just the kasrcuck containment thread?
https://mega.nz/folder/0a10kTyb#Kro6lhFGnt9hmfuJCT3BKQKT24 shit
>>97140331Yes and no. we split because of the hype it got at the start and we became to big for gwsg. now that the hype pyped down we are just the idiot containment thread i guess.>>97139724we usually played custom... but now neither sadly.
>TQI've only played on random stuff from the LGS but just finished Volkus set so naturally I'm looking forward to trying it. >>97140331GWSG does feel weirdly barren since LOTR died.
>>97140331>Why did we even leave GWSG in the first place? It's for your own good.
>>97139724TQI play on a modular board, we only play occasionally and not competitively so it's enough variety for us and I'll get round to adding more boards at some point.
>>97140331We're too big. Even when we have a lot less to discuss than usual, we end up drowning out most other discussion in that thread. /gwsg/ is honestly too fractured of a group to make a shared thread work properly (too many users will be there for their own specific game and not care about discussion of other ones), it only exists because there is no other way to keep a thread alive for those games.>>97139763I get the feeling, I have a half-painted squad to finish right now but just haven't gotten around to it. Should be quick and easy too, it's mostly two colours that I need to apply. I just have to sit down and actually do it.
>>97141829>We're too bigall 5 of us...
>>97141779ummm sweetie this isn't a valid official killzone layout
>>97139724I'm getting into Kasrkin, is there ANY reason to choose the flamer over other options? Sharpshooter vs Volley gun for an all comers list?
>>97142126flamer only style or fun, no real reason for efficiency.hotshot more mobile and potential damage, sniper more durable and more reliable damage (if you can get into position)
Are there any chaff rules that you feel could be cut from KT? I've tried multiple times to get my friends into the game, and even though they're all familiar with 40k (both the setting and the game), they've all almost instantly bounced off of KT due to what they feel is a cumbersome and bloated ruleset. Or they just don't want to learn a similar but subtly different set of rules from 40k and are being a bunch of pussies.
>>97142436The LoS/obscurement/cover system could almost certainly be reworked to both be simpler and better at the same time, it's too jank as is.Unfortunately that's not something that can just be cut out, it needs replacing and then a swathe of rebalancing patches to follow.Teams could also be simpler with less specialists, thought that's more of a taste thing and is also not something you could just quickly shave off and would instead require a bunch of homebrew team rules to be written. The one thing I could think of is maybe dumping some of the vantage point rules, though that has some balance risks too and would end up making high grounds even less appealing to move to.So not really, it's all either too integral to the system or provides too much good to be worth removing.
>>97142436>Or they just don't want to learn a similar but subtly different set of rules from 40k and are being a bunch of pussiespretty sure it is that and maybe the limited lists/not being able to play specific units or so. but what the other anon said is also true. except that you can simplify and replace it mostly with just using common sense making it more like 40k line of sight rules. as long as you only play with friends there should be no problem. most of the other bloadet rules like scoutsteps n shit can be simplyfied as well but would cut down on fun as well i think.
>>97142750The Scouting phase was one of their biggest complaints. I've not had a chance to play with the updated rules so I'm only vaguely familiar with the new equipment/initiative process but it seems like it might be an attempt to address those complaints?I feel like the biggest issues is as >>97142589 mentioned, the LoS/Obscuring rules are so busted and janky that they just need to be torn down to the basics and rebuilt. Obviously KT is a tabletop game and a lot of the rules are an attempt to emulate real-world functions of these types of firefight engagements, but it's just all so cumbersome and poorly explained. I long for the day KT gets some sort of video game adaptation that does all the LoS/Obscuring calculations behind the scenes and you don't have to squint down the line of your little plastic man like a retard.
Just gonna post some teams to keep the thread phresh.TQ: I got into the dark and volkus terrain, but not build yet because they are pain to build, I would really prefer some cardboard alternatives
>>97144155Damn dude, that nemesis claw looks amazing, got a close up of any of them?
>>97139724Building up my raveners, my friend plays Pathfinders. Am I right in thinking they are a defacto counter to my team in every way? Strong shooting, horde, can get board wide saturate easily, can shoot into combat, possible to have seek light on very capable weapons.
>>97144222here you go....also does anyone know what the latest/next Kill team Box will be ?
>>97146675It's in the OP, they were forced to reveal it a while back due to a leak. There could theoretically be another box before it but I personally doubt it.
Evening gents!I'm struggling to find a good color/paint scheme for Elucia Vayne... Her model seems cool but the box art doesn't do it for me.Something like this (sorry for plebbit link, my IP range is banned from uploading images for some reason)? https://old.reddit.com/r/killteam/comments/14q1d0e/i_drew_elucia_vhane_the_starstriders_leader/Maybe with purple/gold? idkVoidsmen = white/blue/goldVoidmaster = dark blue/navy & black.Medic = white & goldElectropriest is red obvs.ASSassin - maybe green & black like the box artPupper = rottweiller
>>97146728dam I always wanted some sisters of battle and raptors are nice too, might have to get that box....
>>97147293Phone post with image
I completed my tomb world set bros and it’s so fun to play on. I’ve done two of the npo missions so far. One solo another co op. Genuinely I hope this mode gets much more support.
>>97148594is tombworld like an updated version of into the dark ?
man I really want to buy some stealth suits because painting stealth effects looks so fun, but i missed the box release (_)
>>97142436As someone more or less in this situation, in my experience the biggest rules-bloat issue is less with the core system and more with the sheer number of factions and special guys each one gets with rules you need to know to actually play well. Even if you're just learning the dozen or so teams played amongst a relatively small playerbase it's an obnoxious system-specific knowledge-check that more often than not curbs my own enthusiasm for wanting to give the game a serious go. Also not a fan of all the extra material needed beyond just the minis for the team, like all the equipment bits and needing to print out mission cards and the like.
>>97149065funny part is, lots of people still hate the prepping phases."needing" to print out shit bud. use paper write the name on it done. same for tokens n shit.
>>97149065I agree that the extra chaff of ploys, equipment, etc. that comes with each team is a huge burden on the game. It's not enough for you to know your own squad's rules, you also need to know your opponents; multiply that by however many teams there are and it gets obnoxious. When I played the first game with my friends they said "you could make up whatever you wanted dude, I read the rules for an hour and I still don't understand it".
>>97149065>>97150082I wonder what might be needed for a functional, more basic team style to work. Some sort of revised compendium.Would you need more versatility in ploys to keep the game interesting? Could one then open up team building options in a good way? This is having me consider the homebrew pen again.
>>97150082many rules are repeated. if you only play with friends it is not that many, especially in comparison with other games. bighammer for example. the wording on the other hand and that some are really similar but still slightly different is obnoxious.
>>97150097I would simplify the ploys that each team has access to, utilizing a sort-of "universal" list of ploys that EVERYONE gets + a team-specific ploy. That way, instead of memorizing 8+ ploys for each new team, you would only need to know 2 (1 firefight, 1 strat ploy). I think the flavor of each team would remain but it would streamline the new-player experience. There's already enough team-specific rules and shit you have to keep track of, don't pile on things that often aren't even in effect during the turning point. This is also why KT needs a bespoke virtual tabletop. Having the game keep track of what strat ploys are in effect, what you can/cannot do with each model, etc. would make it more enjoyable to play imo.
>>97149578>use paper write the name on it doneThat's even less convenient than just printing them, at least the printed ones will have the rules reference on them.
Is kill team food?
>>97153324Only one way to find out. Let us know how it goes.
>necrons are pretty neat maybe i get that new necron kill team>they are top tierok nvm i aint getting them
>>97152615you can write that down as well... right? i just say it is not needed.
>>97156297just get them, in the time you have painted them they get nervd.
>>97156893dont tell me what to do idiot i'll jerk you off
>>97156936wow agressive, that was more a suggestiontha an order dimwit. and you are not worthy to jerk me off.
>>97140331In fairness, there hasn't been a "Specialist Games" for years, and Kill Team has been the work of the main design studio. And a SG/SDS thread struggles to stay active because the two biggest games they make are HH and TOW, and they have their own generals or pseudo-generals.
any tips for the stealth suit team for a complete noob?
>>97157322Unfortunately notThe team is so far away from the standard way you play the game that typical wisdom likely won't apply to it, and my own set of stealth suits are only halfway painted.Best I can say is that the team can't handle a fair firefight, so you'll need to use your stealth to take shots where you won't suffer any return damage.
>>97157322i second that >>97158530also they are so new that i haven't seen anyone play them yet
>wrekka crew>turn 2>misses 4/6 of his shots>i’m going to use my wrekka points>now it’s 6 hits>lethal 5+ cus close quarters>25+ damage altogether>bomb squigs that just get free lethal 5 mega attacksWhat’s even the point? This game is really overtuned sometimes. I just like playing co op bros.
>>97156885I think you're kind of missing the point anon, the necessity of having a bunch of extra accessories beyond the normal stuff you'd need for a game (minis, terrain, dice, ruler, rulebook) is the annoying thing. Them being printed, or handwritten, or getting the official cards isn't the problem, the problem is needing even more random bits and bobs just to play a skirmish game.>inb4 well plenty of other games have tokens and cards!Yeah and I find it annoying when other games do it too.
>>97150172>>97150082>>97150097I agree with all of this. There is a massive mental burden in this game that goes far beyond the core rules and terrain stuff, which is very tight and fun. Just playing with those mechanics alone is very satisfying and engaging. However any type of matched play genuinely does require that you have a borderline encyclopedic knowledge of a dozen+ teams to play in any type of viable way. I really do not enjoy that aspect of the game whatsoever. I think a significantly simplified chaff rewrite of the game would be pretty popular. Unfortunately i think that the game’s “community” is very very autistic and competitive oriented. At least the vocal internet portion of it. At the meet I went to last night it was all comp players who “practice” the game like a sport. I’m not fuckin doing that once in my entire life bros. If you can find a few people who will do coop missions with you it’s extremely fun.In practical terms just using the compendium rules for team building could solve a lot of this. A lot less specialist bloat. Mandrakes are a great example of specialist bloat, each of the nearly identical freaks have their own special datasheet and ability list. Shit is retarded.
>>97160367If he's missed 4 and used wrecka points to make it 6 he's played it wrong, you can't spend more than 3 on a single attack. They're also really swingy as a team because if you come out of TP1 with no wrecka points you're fucked.
>>97160367depends if he illegaly used 4 wreka points to overkill some random shitter he is an idiot
>>97160425Ah yes depending on the team you need a lot ot non at all. we usually use dont use these things, but that has to do with trust. so all these cards are not needed IN THAT CASE... but with randoms n such it would be a problem yes.
>>97160617It's not only that you need to know the million team-specific ploys/rules/operatives, there's also specific tac-op rules, crit-op rules, different methods of scoring the kill-op based on the opposing operative number, etc. etc. It's an insane amount of rules bloat that has no purpose other than to make the game more complex. But on the other hand, the differences are what make the game unique and special. It's asymmetrical nature is probably the most engaging aspect of it, as each match is widely different than even those against the same team. I just wish there wasn't such a burden on the players to keep track of all this garbage, fucking keeping track of just mechanically interacting with your operatives is more than enough mental load for most people.TL;DR just make Kill Team 2026 a virtual tabletop already.
>>97165488nah i enjoy the different teams and playing with real minis, If I wanted a balanced online game I would play chess (and even then competetive fags would complain about white going first)
>>97139724I want to play Blades of Khaine because I'm gay and retarded.I'm confused on what operatives to take, is 4 Howling Banshees (Exarch), 2 striking scorpions and 2 dire avengers a good all comers list?
>>97147293>>97147562Alright /tg/, which one (or aspects of one) do you like the most?
>>97168627I like the lace sleeves on #5 matching the veil, looks fitting. rest of the colors are nice too. I'd do red for the main garb but that's just cause I like red more. I also like the ones that have the blouse and the skirt in different colors
Anyone got a pdf of Salvation?
Are the only legal kill teams currently the official kill teams? I'm gonna be making an Acid Dogs unit and didn't know if I should bother giving it a specific loadout since it originally was gonna be just to paint
>>971686273 is pretty loud but I like it, it's different
>>97169401just proxy to whatever official team ruleset looks best for them
>>97167490It was, no clue if still is.
>>97169201I've added it to the mega>>97140366
>>97172300Thanks man, I appreciate it
How should I build my Death Watch team? Picked up the standalone box with 5 models. Just wanting it to be as versatile as possible.
Played my first full game and won.Felt kinda shitty though because I won solely on having poison vents which I forgot to mention until my friend had already used his dice to hit instead of block which would've let him live long enough to score on tac.Still fun though.
>>97176400>as versatile as possiblewatch sergeantgunnerdisrupterheadtakermarksmanby fahr not the best list but most versatile i guess.two closecombat, one mobile for terrain one still strong schooting. plasma because strong gun that can shoot every target. diarupter for skills. maksman for reliable shooting and guard.if you like less versatile but better throw out marksman and headtaker for demolischer and bombard.
>>97176549yea in such cases it is acceptable to let him change his choice...
