Unusual for the thread to go down so fast. Let's hope this one doesn't.To answer my own TQ, I got to play with this custom terrain the other day at a local-ish store I don't usually visit. A bit too blocky and large to make for an actually good table, but still beautiful to play on. As for the game itself, it was sort of over after I landed an eradication pistol shot at the start of T2 that dealt 31 damage and then got to retreat safely.
I really wish I could just slam out a few of the easy teams I have waiting in the pile but life gets in the way
Why did we even leave GWSG in the first place? Is this just the kasrcuck containment thread?
https://mega.nz/folder/0a10kTyb#Kro6lhFGnt9hmfuJCT3BKQKT24 shit
>>97140331Yes and no. we split because of the hype it got at the start and we became to big for gwsg. now that the hype pyped down we are just the idiot containment thread i guess.>>97139724we usually played custom... but now neither sadly.
>TQI've only played on random stuff from the LGS but just finished Volkus set so naturally I'm looking forward to trying it. >>97140331GWSG does feel weirdly barren since LOTR died.
>>97140331>Why did we even leave GWSG in the first place? It's for your own good.
>>97139724TQI play on a modular board, we only play occasionally and not competitively so it's enough variety for us and I'll get round to adding more boards at some point.
>>97140331We're too big. Even when we have a lot less to discuss than usual, we end up drowning out most other discussion in that thread. /gwsg/ is honestly too fractured of a group to make a shared thread work properly (too many users will be there for their own specific game and not care about discussion of other ones), it only exists because there is no other way to keep a thread alive for those games.>>97139763I get the feeling, I have a half-painted squad to finish right now but just haven't gotten around to it. Should be quick and easy too, it's mostly two colours that I need to apply. I just have to sit down and actually do it.
>>97141829>We're too bigall 5 of us...
>>97141779ummm sweetie this isn't a valid official killzone layout
>>97139724I'm getting into Kasrkin, is there ANY reason to choose the flamer over other options? Sharpshooter vs Volley gun for an all comers list?
>>97142126flamer only style or fun, no real reason for efficiency.hotshot more mobile and potential damage, sniper more durable and more reliable damage (if you can get into position)
Are there any chaff rules that you feel could be cut from KT? I've tried multiple times to get my friends into the game, and even though they're all familiar with 40k (both the setting and the game), they've all almost instantly bounced off of KT due to what they feel is a cumbersome and bloated ruleset. Or they just don't want to learn a similar but subtly different set of rules from 40k and are being a bunch of pussies.
>>97142436The LoS/obscurement/cover system could almost certainly be reworked to both be simpler and better at the same time, it's too jank as is.Unfortunately that's not something that can just be cut out, it needs replacing and then a swathe of rebalancing patches to follow.Teams could also be simpler with less specialists, thought that's more of a taste thing and is also not something you could just quickly shave off and would instead require a bunch of homebrew team rules to be written. The one thing I could think of is maybe dumping some of the vantage point rules, though that has some balance risks too and would end up making high grounds even less appealing to move to.So not really, it's all either too integral to the system or provides too much good to be worth removing.
>>97142436>Or they just don't want to learn a similar but subtly different set of rules from 40k and are being a bunch of pussiespretty sure it is that and maybe the limited lists/not being able to play specific units or so. but what the other anon said is also true. except that you can simplify and replace it mostly with just using common sense making it more like 40k line of sight rules. as long as you only play with friends there should be no problem. most of the other bloadet rules like scoutsteps n shit can be simplyfied as well but would cut down on fun as well i think.
>>97142750The Scouting phase was one of their biggest complaints. I've not had a chance to play with the updated rules so I'm only vaguely familiar with the new equipment/initiative process but it seems like it might be an attempt to address those complaints?I feel like the biggest issues is as >>97142589 mentioned, the LoS/Obscuring rules are so busted and janky that they just need to be torn down to the basics and rebuilt. Obviously KT is a tabletop game and a lot of the rules are an attempt to emulate real-world functions of these types of firefight engagements, but it's just all so cumbersome and poorly explained. I long for the day KT gets some sort of video game adaptation that does all the LoS/Obscuring calculations behind the scenes and you don't have to squint down the line of your little plastic man like a retard.
Just gonna post some teams to keep the thread phresh.TQ: I got into the dark and volkus terrain, but not build yet because they are pain to build, I would really prefer some cardboard alternatives
>>97144155Damn dude, that nemesis claw looks amazing, got a close up of any of them?
>>97139724Building up my raveners, my friend plays Pathfinders. Am I right in thinking they are a defacto counter to my team in every way? Strong shooting, horde, can get board wide saturate easily, can shoot into combat, possible to have seek light on very capable weapons.
>>97144222here you go....also does anyone know what the latest/next Kill team Box will be ?
>>97146675It's in the OP, they were forced to reveal it a while back due to a leak. There could theoretically be another box before it but I personally doubt it.

I completed my tomb world set bros and it’s so fun to play on. I’ve done two of the npo missions so far. One solo another co op. Genuinely I hope this mode gets much more support.
>>97148594is tombworld like an updated version of into the dark ?
man I really want to buy some stealth suits because painting stealth effects looks so fun, but i missed the box release (_)
>>97142436As someone more or less in this situation, in my experience the biggest rules-bloat issue is less with the core system and more with the sheer number of factions and special guys each one gets with rules you need to know to actually play well. Even if you're just learning the dozen or so teams played amongst a relatively small playerbase it's an obnoxious system-specific knowledge-check that more often than not curbs my own enthusiasm for wanting to give the game a serious go. Also not a fan of all the extra material needed beyond just the minis for the team, like all the equipment bits and needing to print out mission cards and the like.
>>97149065funny part is, lots of people still hate the prepping phases."needing" to print out shit bud. use paper write the name on it done. same for tokens n shit.
>>97149065I agree that the extra chaff of ploys, equipment, etc. that comes with each team is a huge burden on the game. It's not enough for you to know your own squad's rules, you also need to know your opponents; multiply that by however many teams there are and it gets obnoxious. When I played the first game with my friends they said "you could make up whatever you wanted dude, I read the rules for an hour and I still don't understand it".
>>97149065>>97150082I wonder what might be needed for a functional, more basic team style to work. Some sort of revised compendium.Would you need more versatility in ploys to keep the game interesting? Could one then open up team building options in a good way? This is having me consider the homebrew pen again.
>>97150082many rules are repeated. if you only play with friends it is not that many, especially in comparison with other games. bighammer for example. the wording on the other hand and that some are really similar but still slightly different is obnoxious.
>>97150097I would simplify the ploys that each team has access to, utilizing a sort-of "universal" list of ploys that EVERYONE gets + a team-specific ploy. That way, instead of memorizing 8+ ploys for each new team, you would only need to know 2 (1 firefight, 1 strat ploy). I think the flavor of each team would remain but it would streamline the new-player experience. There's already enough team-specific rules and shit you have to keep track of, don't pile on things that often aren't even in effect during the turning point. This is also why KT needs a bespoke virtual tabletop. Having the game keep track of what strat ploys are in effect, what you can/cannot do with each model, etc. would make it more enjoyable to play imo.
>>97149578>use paper write the name on it doneThat's even less convenient than just printing them, at least the printed ones will have the rules reference on them.
Is kill team food?
>>97153324Only one way to find out. Let us know how it goes.
>necrons are pretty neat maybe i get that new necron kill team>they are top tierok nvm i aint getting them
>>97152615you can write that down as well... right? i just say it is not needed.
>>97156297just get them, in the time you have painted them they get nervd.
>>97156893dont tell me what to do idiot i'll jerk you off
>>97156936wow agressive, that was more a suggestiontha an order dimwit. and you are not worthy to jerk me off.
>>97140331In fairness, there hasn't been a "Specialist Games" for years, and Kill Team has been the work of the main design studio. And a SG/SDS thread struggles to stay active because the two biggest games they make are HH and TOW, and they have their own generals or pseudo-generals.
any tips for the stealth suit team for a complete noob?
>>97157322Unfortunately notThe team is so far away from the standard way you play the game that typical wisdom likely won't apply to it, and my own set of stealth suits are only halfway painted.Best I can say is that the team can't handle a fair firefight, so you'll need to use your stealth to take shots where you won't suffer any return damage.
>>97157322i second that >>97158530also they are so new that i haven't seen anyone play them yet
>wrekka crew>turn 2>misses 4/6 of his shots>i’m going to use my wrekka points>now it’s 6 hits>lethal 5+ cus close quarters>25+ damage altogether>bomb squigs that just get free lethal 5 mega attacksWhat’s even the point? This game is really overtuned sometimes. I just like playing co op bros.
>>97156885I think you're kind of missing the point anon, the necessity of having a bunch of extra accessories beyond the normal stuff you'd need for a game (minis, terrain, dice, ruler, rulebook) is the annoying thing. Them being printed, or handwritten, or getting the official cards isn't the problem, the problem is needing even more random bits and bobs just to play a skirmish game.>inb4 well plenty of other games have tokens and cards!Yeah and I find it annoying when other games do it too.
>>97150172>>97150082>>97150097I agree with all of this. There is a massive mental burden in this game that goes far beyond the core rules and terrain stuff, which is very tight and fun. Just playing with those mechanics alone is very satisfying and engaging. However any type of matched play genuinely does require that you have a borderline encyclopedic knowledge of a dozen+ teams to play in any type of viable way. I really do not enjoy that aspect of the game whatsoever. I think a significantly simplified chaff rewrite of the game would be pretty popular. Unfortunately i think that the game’s “community” is very very autistic and competitive oriented. At least the vocal internet portion of it. At the meet I went to last night it was all comp players who “practice” the game like a sport. I’m not fuckin doing that once in my entire life bros. If you can find a few people who will do coop missions with you it’s extremely fun.In practical terms just using the compendium rules for team building could solve a lot of this. A lot less specialist bloat. Mandrakes are a great example of specialist bloat, each of the nearly identical freaks have their own special datasheet and ability list. Shit is retarded.
>>97160367If he's missed 4 and used wrecka points to make it 6 he's played it wrong, you can't spend more than 3 on a single attack. They're also really swingy as a team because if you come out of TP1 with no wrecka points you're fucked.
>>97160367depends if he illegaly used 4 wreka points to overkill some random shitter he is an idiot
>>97160425Ah yes depending on the team you need a lot ot non at all. we usually use dont use these things, but that has to do with trust. so all these cards are not needed IN THAT CASE... but with randoms n such it would be a problem yes.
>>97160617It's not only that you need to know the million team-specific ploys/rules/operatives, there's also specific tac-op rules, crit-op rules, different methods of scoring the kill-op based on the opposing operative number, etc. etc. It's an insane amount of rules bloat that has no purpose other than to make the game more complex. But on the other hand, the differences are what make the game unique and special. It's asymmetrical nature is probably the most engaging aspect of it, as each match is widely different than even those against the same team. I just wish there wasn't such a burden on the players to keep track of all this garbage, fucking keeping track of just mechanically interacting with your operatives is more than enough mental load for most people.TL;DR just make Kill Team 2026 a virtual tabletop already.
>>97165488nah i enjoy the different teams and playing with real minis, If I wanted a balanced online game I would play chess (and even then competetive fags would complain about white going first)
>>97139724I want to play Blades of Khaine because I'm gay and retarded.I'm confused on what operatives to take, is 4 Howling Banshees (Exarch), 2 striking scorpions and 2 dire avengers a good all comers list?
>>97147293>>97147562Alright /tg/, which one (or aspects of one) do you like the most?
>>97168627I like the lace sleeves on #5 matching the veil, looks fitting. rest of the colors are nice too. I'd do red for the main garb but that's just cause I like red more. I also like the ones that have the blouse and the skirt in different colors
Anyone got a pdf of Salvation?
Are the only legal kill teams currently the official kill teams? I'm gonna be making an Acid Dogs unit and didn't know if I should bother giving it a specific loadout since it originally was gonna be just to paint
>>971686273 is pretty loud but I like it, it's different
>>97169401just proxy to whatever official team ruleset looks best for them
>>97167490It was, no clue if still is.
>>97169201I've added it to the mega>>97140366
>>97172300Thanks man, I appreciate it
How should I build my Death Watch team? Picked up the standalone box with 5 models. Just wanting it to be as versatile as possible.
Played my first full game and won.Felt kinda shitty though because I won solely on having poison vents which I forgot to mention until my friend had already used his dice to hit instead of block which would've let him live long enough to score on tac.Still fun though.
>>97176400>as versatile as possiblewatch sergeantgunnerdisrupterheadtakermarksmanby fahr not the best list but most versatile i guess.two closecombat, one mobile for terrain one still strong schooting. plasma because strong gun that can shoot every target. diarupter for skills. maksman for reliable shooting and guard.if you like less versatile but better throw out marksman and headtaker for demolischer and bombard.
>>97176549yea in such cases it is acceptable to let him change his choice...
>>97169401>You could proxy as krieg, voidsmen or blooded easily. Kasrkin and extraction at a push.Blooded is good fit thematically and the box would be a great source of parts for you.
>>97168627This mini in particular and the whole team in general are such wasted potential. They all come up short of what they could/should have been.
>>97177955Don't forget wyrmblade/brood brothersA local community member made a krieg brood brothers guard team
>>97177964Yeah, brood brother is a good one.
>>971686274
>entire local community is comp focused>talk is always of tacoma open pso or other big events>always talking about the latest dataslate and practicing into other teams like it’s a sportWhat’s your local like /ktg/? This is reminding me why I just play at home with my wife or alone. I genuinely cannot enter the mindspace of people who want to play this game like it’s a sport. It feels like an e-sport rather than a game this way. The same emptiness I get when I see starcraft or aoe4 played competitively.
For Wolf Scouts, what operators should I build?I know I can build the remaining ones with some extra phobos bodies, but this is for the initial build
>>97184318The only store near me is full of obnoxious insufferable autists so I've only played there once. I could tell early on I was gonna despise them so I made sure to lie about not living anywhere near there and when I'm getting something at the store it's just because I'm "in the area visiting my family"
>>97142436If your friends play modern 40k maybe you should change friends.
>>97142844The scouting phase was cool and unique, the game is worse without it. People who complained are the ones who complain about the game not having lists or not being like the older versions of the game. That people don't play the game and are unable to understand why the game is nice now.
If a man were to play Wrecka Krew what would be a good loadout and stuff to keep in mind with them?I definitely will play the Demolisha, Krusha, and Rokkiteer, but what else should I have? I heard having two Breaka Boy Fighters is also a potent mix, I am stretching out from playing specifically marine teams, so I'm a tad at odds here. Also, I wish the Nob had more armor on him, I'm thinking of greenstuffing chainmail on his exposed parts. Thoughts?
>>97160367Joint Ops is ny favorite way to play KT, if I was honest. I make a whole zombie scenario with unique scatter terrain and what not ever October. And I like allying with Legions(Larping the Great Crusades), or allied forces to take down big enemy teams like Cultist Compounds, Hive Fleets, Ork Mobs etc
>>97184318most where comp focused, not all but scene completly dissolved arround here. fist they changed games, everyone played something different and now no one plays at all.
>>97188579stuff to keep in mind, have fun, they are hell of swingy so you will win big and loose big.wrecka points... many use them wrong so read carefully.fighter is less swingy if you can deliver but efficency depends on map and enemy team but mixing is better for most maps and missions just to have two that can shoot and camp objectives..
>>97140366You are doing the Lord's work, ty anon
>>97172300Should we add all the KT '18 and KT '21 books? I have the PDFs if you need them.
>>97184318I play KT21 + Compendium with my friends. We use our old 40k minis. No, it doesn't get boring. We get our dose of confy tabletop 40k without the downsides of full 40k or the sweatiness of KT24.
>>97186149Since no one else seems to have an answer, I can give you my evaluationBut I haven't played the team so it's entirely theoreticalAside from the fenrisian wolf, the fangbearer seems like a must-take. Complete permanent immunity to APL modifiers and injuries, can heal, and actually nasty weapons. Being able to double tap with the 4/5 pistol without spending 3 APL because it isn't a plasma is big.Pack leader also seems like a waste not to take even if he isn't required, good armament and valuable abilities. Rune priest is also good for utility and CP batteries. From there I'd say it's more a taste thing. You could lean full ranged, hang back, stay safe in the storm and pump out sniper and plasma shots, or you could "commit" to melee entirely since you'll get plenty of incredible pistols to help you with ranged threat.
Stealth suits done, wondering if I'll get the chance to test them before christmas hits. I magnetized them to their bases, letting me remove them and "turn them invisible" if I want to.Also that markerlight drone>woe, painting lenses be upon ye

>>97198887not him but are there any interesting joined ops rules in it?
>>97200414There are no dedicated joint ops rules in it.The book has the lore section, the two teams, and a section dedicated to a campaign system. The latter can be used for a PvE campaign, but it's not really written for it.
>>97200984is the campaign system any good? or just again 5 missions in a mission tree and thats called a campaign?
>>97200993Much better than that, at any rate. Actually has me curious about running one at my local community, though I'm not sure it'd quite work that well for that. You basically have a hex map. Each campaign round (of which you play a number determined at the start of the campaign) you can first move, then you play a game, then you can do actions using a supply point system. Each hex is either above ground (open/volkus terrain), underground (gallowdark/tomb world terrain), and each one upon being explored can have one condition that affects the exploration part of the campaign and one that affects games played in that hex. There are also blocked hexes, which are self-explanatory.Pretty simple all in all. What I personally like about it is that it's not a race to a single goal; instead you play the set number of full rounds, then each player gets awards for stuff like most kills, most hexes explored, most supplies used etc. Makes it more narrative in a way that doesn't impact the gameplay.
>>97201115sounds nice. may be worth it taking a closer look then.
You guys, I love Kill Team but not loving the direction it's headed atm. The upcoming (Women) vs (Raptor models from 2003) box does not excite me, and every game me and the boys play we always ignore that initiative card shit.It can be turned around, but that would require heavy nerfs to the top 5 teams (Yiff Scouts, Canoptek and Deathwatch)
>>97204257I was playing some games and I noticed how crazy more competitive minded players can get with the system. It's also bizarre how the game is heavily slanted towards tournaments and competitive play yet the balance is just so fucking god-awful it feels like an afterthought.
My local scene is deciding on whether or not to allow declassified teams in tournaments and league and it’s blown up to be a shitshow. The usual suspects are voting to bar declassified teams (podcast host, tranny freak, waacfags and other corporate shills). It’s just so fucking blatant. I can’t stand it.
>>97205958Seriously, why ban them? Because they dont get balanced? well they do but non of the teams right now seem to be properly balanced, classified or not....the only argument i understand is, less teams to remember the rules of...
>>97206289Oh look that thing that literally everyone knew would happen but you assured us it wouldn't.
>>97206720It's always been "it won't matter unless your local scene is meta compfags"Original anon is pretty unlucky to have it happen to his scene, no one has even asked the question at my local
>>97207492around here they ask if it is fine, eveyone says yea sure.
>>97204257Feels like they introduced the initiative card system to combat people just winning the roll-off each time and always taking the initiative, but it doesn't resolve the issue because you can still get bad rolls and get screwed until the later turning points. If they had just made it alternating who gets the initiative, and then let that person pick if they want to go first/second, it would solve all the issues but then wouldn't have stupid cards you have to buy from GW haha gottemAnd the balance has been skewed towards elites for too long, I agree, but the new ops are at least trying to help hordes out.I really don't understand this complaining about KT being too focused towards competitive play, but I guess when I play anything I want to actually engage with the game and try and do my best rather than just fucking around.
>>97207628I’ve been playing since KT2018. Elites vs hordes has always been a massive problem in this game. It’s a nigh-impossible tightrope act with this few models in play while sticking to what makes kill team unique.>>97205958That sucks man. My local group consists of about five people in total so we just get together and play like retarded middle schoolers. It’s fun.
>>97207628Comp focused just makes finding people to play with a chore because people who treat this game as an esport are fundamentally not relateable as human beings. Their relationship to the models, board, concepts are all statsheet excel mental model puzzle solving rather than the concept that we are simulating a fight between our guys somewhere in the dark universe. That fuckin blows
>>97208327>Hey bro you want to play some KT?>Sure, let me get my models set up and->Whoa whoa whoa bro, we need to determine the historical context for this skirmish! So I'm thinking 50 years old Planetary Governor McWhogivesafuck angered the local Chapter of Adeptus Retardes and->Nvm I'm gonna play with someone else>REEEEEEEEE YOU'RE JUST A UNIMAGITIVE COMPFAG YOU AREN'T A HUMAN BEING REEEEEEEEI have never understood this mentality. Sure when I'm playing with my friends every other month it can be fun to invent a little campaign but if I'm doing games at my local shop I'm not expecting anyone to invert a little story behind the actions. I guess it's just an autism issue.
>>97209071I find it quite simple to do actually, I usually just improv something for the main objective to represent and throw it out as a suggestion while my hands are busy taking out models and tokens. So far every opponent has been happy to play along with the ideas.
Been out of the loop for awhile and can't find conclusive answers, did the brain trusts at GW still keep the plan sunsetting of older teams in the upcoming calendar year or was that scrapped? If so is there any list/graphic that shows what's getting sunset, what's not?
>>97209155Not sure if they got sunsetted but there are model kits/upgrade kits you cannot get anymore.
Been a while since my boys saw some combat.
>>97209155Older teams get pulled off the box kill team shelf and repackaged for bighammer, sometimes lacking an upgrade sprue. This means they get marked as "declassified". Some tournaments or even communities might say that declassified teams aren't legal. Mostly, that's official GW-hosted tournaments, but apparently some communities are comp-focused enough to do it too based on the recent posts in the thread. Hopefully your community is not that shit.
Battlekit lives?
>>97209071>>97208327I feel this too much. I live in a good area for tabletop shit but KT was basically impossible to get anybody in on and it often would just have people coopting the night into small points 40k, which I can't entirely argue with just to catch more flies.
>>97209071You’ve barely even scratched the surface. Read the entirety of the 3rd edition 40k rulebook front to back and you might catch a glimpse of what wargaming is about.
>>97209071I don't really understand either end of the discussion. I just want to play with my toy soldiers and hang out. That being said enough of my chaos marines are kit bashes with some loyalist bits I can build a fun narrative of the loylaist marine player wanting to kill my dudes to reclaim loyalist wargear or relics and my dudes just doing chaos shit and looting everything they can in the process.
So these guys (stealth suits, if you can't see them)Pretty interesting against a marine team. When the enemy can move + dash + shove a heavy plasma incinerator in your face, stealth becomes a lot less safe. Ended up not controlling much on the objectives, which combined with an equal score on tac op, kill op, and primary meant a final score of 10-15.Definitely not a conclusive game in regards to how balanced they are, I made plenty of mistakes, but the stealth was a lot less oppressive than me or my opponent expected. What I want to see now is how they perform against a 2APL team. Losing that extra dash to reach enemies, and not having the same super reliable kill shots that a team like deathwatch has, might make these sneakers a much less fun team to face. I need to see it to confirm it though.
>>97189648Yeah, pls do
>>97208327what a suprise....autistic lore fag complaning again that nobody takes "le epic setting" as serious as he doesrelax man some guys just want to chill and throw some dice.......
>>97215105>relax man some guys just want to chill and throw some dice.......I think that's his point.Who would you rather play against:>I bought canoptek because they're the strongest team in the meta right now>Here are my Necrons, they're apparently the strongest team but I'll go easy on you! Oh you like the colour scheme? Thanks, it took me a while between helping homeless veterans and fostering abandoned grizzly bears. They're actually from my own dynasty, but I've not found a name for them yet
>>97139763I too bought a few hudnred dollars worth of plastic I probably should not have bought.
>>97216044I'd rather play against the first one because I want a clean match and don't want someone to "go easy" on me.This may sound mean but I don't care about my opponents manufactured headcanon about his little plastic men. I can respect a good paint scheme, even recognize the passion it must take to make up backstories and names for them , but that's a personal connection that he shares with his dudes and it means little to me. It's like expecting someone to care about your D&D character; yeah they may mean a lot to you but I'm not in your head.
>>97216044as long as both play fair and do not try to cheat, I do not really mind, I just hope the second one does not start loredumping or making 40k puns all game, I enjoy the setting but not really that deeply interested in the lore
>>97188634Yooo thats cool, maybe you have some mission setups or something like that to share?
Explain to me why I shouldn't be able to bring this as my KT without sounding mad
>>97218754You need at least two/three models to form a team
>>97218754Your opponent would be too busy kneeling
>>97218754I remember one guy at my lgs being genuinely upset when we wouldn't let him use his mega gargant in warcry
>>97218754Not your fault, you’re bringing back KT commanders or whatever the bullshittery was of 2018 when they actually thought people would put up getting slapped around by a terminator and all that.
What are your thoughts on running these as the new raptors
>>97218754coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb
>>97219615Would be cool if you already own them, they're definitely getting updated within the year though
>>97220052I don't want the new ones
>>97220226Don't see why not thenThere's still the question of the jump lord and possibly the two handed melees and mutant guy
>>97218754law: kinda obviousgameplay: promblems with multiple core game mechanics, no mapplay, no objective play, no conceal, activation problems, weapon scaling (looking at something and jst deleting it is not a good mechanic if yor remember D weapons in bighammer befor damagenumbers over 10 was a thing)
>>97218754Impressive... but that guy would just be stuck in your starting zone because there is no way he can manuver through dense killteam terrain, so you would most likely lose on points
>>97221316>no way he can manoeuvre
>>97215105It’s the opposite. I don’t care that much about the lore but i likewise don’t want to play against some ballaching metafag which is the majority of people i’ve met in KT so far. To claim that you just want to “throw some dice” is absurd when metafags are the least casual players you can go against. My last game had my opponent go over the entire meta leaderboard status of the top teams and how the newest dataslate could impact the upcoming this and that other fuckin tournament. Who gives a shit. >>97216044I’ve never met the latter in my life in any game. I would find a /yourdudes/ autist pretty annoying i’m sure but i’ve yet to even meet one to make this observation. The most fun games are somewhere in the middle where it’s a good clean fun game where the rules are observed but both sides remember that we are trying to simulate dudes fighting eachother and not merely moving spreadsheets around
>>97222716>both sides remember that we are trying to simulate dudes fighting eachother and not merely moving spreadsheets aroundNot instigating anything, but what would this look like to you? And how would it impact the game or enhance the enjoyment of the battle? I ask because used to live in a place where our local spot tried to implement a sort of narrative campaign but it ended up just being limply implemented and mostly limited to a whiteboard map that got colored in depending on what faction (Chaos, Xenos, Imperium) won the most games in any given week. For me, KT has fun rules and good game design so just the act of playing is enjoyable; you could strip out the flavor of the teams and it still would be enjoyable on a mechanical level. Obviously the flavor is what adds the special spice to the game, getting to interact with the factions/setting you like and all that comes with that, but at its heart KT is still a warGAME to me.
Anyone played the new raveners ?How do they play ? are they more of a aggro team or do they just hide in their tunnel and do missions mostly ?
>>97228305hard to discribebut they mostly play passive aggro. practically like traps. if som, ething comes to close to the tunnel. they seem durable but mostly aren't. so hit n run tactics are a must.
>>97228467k makes sense, I assumed they were like a turn 3-4 team since the tunnel is such a big part of their power, thanks for the info
I just want to bring this and disintegrate everyone is that so much to ask James
>>97228606The 2nd ed ones are better
>>97219615lol manlets
>>97228914Watch yourself bub
We're due at least three other teams in 2026. My dad works at GW and he told me they are:>Lictor Incursion; a cross between Ravenors and stealth suits>Grots and Snotlings; exactly what it says on the tin, a flood of low wound, hard to hit models>Sly Marbo; just one model with all the rules
>>97232769Next kill team box is hrud vs catachans
>>97228606There is literally a kill team that does exactly that
finished my latest krieger a few days ago4 more to go before i can take em to playfeeling good bros
>>97233966nice, can't wait to see them in action
Its sad how much the new stealth suits stink. The new kill team designer sucks (literally)
I have access to a laser wood cutter. It can make shapes out of balsa.I’m considering using it to make DIY versions of kill zone terrain. Is there a resource out there that provided blueprints/dimensions for official kill zone terrain sets?pic attached: my friend’s yet to be painted plaguecaster
>>97234372I think you can find finisched files vor wh Terrain online on things Like cults or thingiverse that also have 3d printing files, If that helps.
>>97234214I'm sure they were under orders to make sure the Wolf Scouts rolled the Tau and the stealth suits will get buffed later. That's just how GW rolls. Also, wouldn't troons be ideal candidates for game design? I mean, they very rarely have kids or other obligations and their autistic brains are perfect for designing competitive games. I mean, compared to the days when GW games were made by middle-aged British dads who just took it on faith that gamers would behave like reasonable people.
>>97234214Having tried them, they seem usable if a bit undertuned but still fun. If anything I'm glad they're not that powerful because it'd feel a lot less fun to troll people if they also lost the game easily. On an unrelated note, if this thread dies before sunday, I'll be unable to create a new one as I normally would.
Can you play Necron Warriors in this game yet?
>>97235011you can, but not really in this edition.
>>97235111So no then? Is it still trying to be 40k underworlds instead of Kill Team?
>>97235114it is still nearly the same in the last 5 years.
>>97235011You could adapt them to the game mode where you play against an NPC horde since they do move robotically and their personalities are gone and whatnot.
>>97235131Bummer, thanks you though
>>97205958Time to make a new kill team community fren.
>>97218557Unfortunately I don't got much to share at the moment aside from just doing lore and modeling my Zombie missions have the most work, with infection mechanics, breaking the ritual, extraction based missions, or if all goes to hell then it's stand the line or asset denial styled missions with unique scatter terrain like corpse piles, altars, or bodybags. I'm trying to get nice special infected zombies that don't look like nurgle demons, but it's not easy.
>>97234214Well it's as the old saying goes, if my aunt had balls she'd be making up more bullshit at GW.
>>97232769Well my dad works at Age Of Sigmar and he said next year we're getting the following Kill Teams...>Grey Knights>Chaos Daemons>Raven Guard>Iron Warriors>Alpha Legion>Khone Beserkers >BA Death Company >Officio Asassinorium>Aeldari ExoditesAnd finally>Primaries Lieutenants in Kill Team armor
>>97242531>Officio AsassinoriumTake my money now
>>97242531>No Hrud.Fucking DROPPED.
>>97205958This is all real and true
>>97218754It has treads. Bring the FW version with legs and there should be no problem.
Are goremongers a one box team or do I need to buy a second box?
>>97205958What podcast?
>>97245746On battlekit, says team size is 8 (1x leader, 7x operatives), and there's 8 in the box, so I'd say yes, it's a one-box KT
>>97245849But do you need to buy another box or are all specialists all you’ll ever need? By your logic Deathwatch is also a one box kill team but you miss out on other viable options
>>97243600>HrudCan you imagine the meltdown?>>97242531Just thought of some more>Darktide / inquisition strike team>Hive Scum>Tzangor reconnaissance herd>PDF troopers>Penal legion squad led by Commisaar Do not redeem the CP!!>Catachans>Sisters of Silence>Daemonette Disco force>Squat Battleclade (AI bots/turrets)>Aeldari Whispering Banshees
>>97245902Hmm, I guess you could compare the faces in the pdf to the box art?https://assets.warhammer-community.com/eng_17-12_kill_team_team_rules_goremongers-7rfudvovux-ld6jeolws2.pdf
>>97245902>>97245933Oh wait, I see what you mean...Well, I would think a team of specialists is better than a team of vanilla troopers, right?
>>97245945>>97245933>>97245902There's only four specialists in the team: knife-ritualist, stalker-climber, bruiser, and harpoon-gunner. Out of these, the harpoon-gunner sucks the most; it does not shooting damage and the dragging ability is nothing-burgers. Second worst is the knife-ritualist because keeping one dude as support in an eight member melee team is like leaving a model at home. The Bruiser is the very good one, the climber-stalker is also good but only outside of close quarters maps.
>try to use Ravage Destiny on an enemy operative>the effect doesn't actually last past the turning point that you use it onFuck's sake
Counteract should be removed from the game since Elites are always powerful enough compared to Hordes.
>>97242531Look, not all flavors of space marine should have a kill team, yes grey knights and "khone" Berserkers are space marines too.
>>97242531If I were in charge, I'd do a Space Hulk themed season: >Terminators>Genestealers>Eldar wraithguard>Legion of the DamnedAnd then I'd stat up all the Blackstone Fortress stuff to throw a bone to people who own those figures.
>>97249055For a Space Hulk or Space Crusade theme to really work, KT needs a blips system
>>97249087pls no blip
So do ops on vantage terrain always have light cover from enemies shooting that are lower then them? The rules on battlekit seemed inconsistent on that.
>>97252165official statement: "As Vantage terrain is also Light, an operative on Vantage terrain will often be in cover from operatives lower than them" so there are cases where this is not the case but i guess they refer to special rules that ignore light cover or units that do not get light cover.
>>97252348So an operative in vantage is basically untouchable until they've taken a shot and then lose their conceal?
>>97252165Page 60 of the core rulebook states>As Vantage terrain is also Light, an operative on Vantage terrain will often be in cover from operatives lower than them — imagine them crouching down to gain a cover save or avoid being a valid target. So the rules for drawing targeting lines from one operatives base to another still apply>>97140366You can download the rulebook here and check for yourself
>>97139724Friend wants to get into KT with us and wants to play custodes, but as far as I can tell they no longer have rules, is that true?
>>97256295Brah custodes are from like 2015 edition.See the "Brief team summaries" catbox image for what's available. Then look up classified teams
>>97255792Well, theoretically. But if what's protecting them is just the flat roof itself, then anyone with an equivalent or higher vantage point can just counter-target them as if they were out in the open. And while it's usually not enough to have a spotter to target concealed enemies because they'll be hiding behind heavy terrain, vantage is only light, meaning that any team with a readily available seek light option can just shoot it.Plus, they need to get up there. And stay up there. That's both a prerequisite movement to set up the threat, and a limiter on where they can target enemies. Combined with healthy amounts of heavy terrain, it can be surprisingly hard to get a shot that you couldn't instead have gotten from the ground just as well.In practice, high ground is more for use to create area denial and niche situations. A vantage point that actually is as good as all those juicy benefits sound is usually a sign of a poor killzone setup.>>97256295Yeah, custards were outed with the 2024 edition. Not an option without homebrew. Plus, they never made for particularly fun games, the other player just dumped all killing power into one target and then played hide and seek the rest of the game to win on points. If he was interested in them for their elite nature, he could look at: raveners, deathwatch, stealth suits, or wolf scouts. All of those are 5 man teams (though some have an extra pet unit or two). Deathwatch especially are a close likeness to what custodes should have been last edition, and are excellent for a beginner to boot.If it was for a different reason, the OP image that summarizes the teams is probably worth consulting.
>>97256295You could port custards forward with minimal effort, but he should probably just look at one of the other superelite teams like deathwatch or raveners instead
I'm going to have to buy a whole set of painting supplies just to get this stuff all painted upBut when it is done, it'll be quite the improvement to my terrain collection
>>97264447Do you not already have paint supplies for your models? Aegis is just two shades of grey and most of tomb world can be done with a dark green, light green and two very light browns. Dry brushing is your friend when it comes to painting terrain.
>>97264497My old big brush could really use a replacement after all the terrain I've drybrushed with it, I definitely need to fill up on primer (and might as well get one of a more specific colour), and I'll want some refills of the colours I'm going to use a lot of just to make sure I both have enough for this project and then for models afterwards without having to male a trip to the hobby store anyways.Plus a few new tools I haven't needed before (certain colours that I can justify buying a whole pot of since I'll be using them for a larger project, a larger mid-sized ball drybrush). So not a complete "set" if that's what my previous post indicated, but a pretty large complement by my standards.
>>97264584Ah I get ya, I got tomb world for Christmas from my partner so now I'm trying find a bunch of different examples of it painted to pick the best.
>>97264665I want mine to fit the mat it comes with so I'll be making the core structure that turquoise-green colour (or, well, something close). Then I want the outer armour layer that it has in patches to match my necron models even though that team is only half painted and never used so I'll be painting that a bright white with red glowy bits.
My LGS is starting a Kill Team night soon and I’m trying to decide what team to play. I’m deciding between:>Deathwatch>Nemesis Claw>Raveners>Wreckas>Vespids>KommandosHow would you rate these teams out of:>how easy it is to play>how fun it is to play>minimizes gotchas and negative play experiences for the opponent
>>97266699Wreckas and Kommandos are probably safe picks to have an enjoyable match for both playersDeathwatch are very straightforward but are a brutal stat check some teams really struggle to passThe others are varying amounts of difficult to play/heavy with gotchas
Which Chaos fraction is the easiest for a beginner?
>>97267757Plague Marines were in the starter set for a reason
I finally painted my pathfinders' devilfish. I got this tank around the same time I painted the team, goddamn it must be three years ago? Better late than never. Now all of my kill teams have a customized transport.
>>97268144Lemme post 'em
>>97268157These guys probably aren't legal anymore.
>>97268167>These guys probably aren't legal anymore. Not quite, which is a shame. I remember you posting them.A few of the team members could probably be repurposed for the new deathwatch team though, so they're not nothing if you find yourself wanting to revive them.Dedicated transports for decorative purposes are kino. Ok nerds, are death guard fun? I love stinky boys but am I going to have a bad time playing them?
>>97272276Their two methods of fun are getting to stay alive with 1 health and then killing people on activation with their raunchy gas.
>>97272276>>97272336I for my part are somewhat interested int he cult, but having only dumbasses with pistols and baseball bats as your standard troops seems somewhat difficult.Ah, and a good 2026 to you all, anons.
So i briefly dipped my toe in the latest edition when Nemesis Claw came out but too many other games kept me busy but two things have gotten me interested and again and modern googles dogshit and keeps confusing editions.1: I was gifted a random box of Rubric Marines for christmas by a relative, never played any Thousand Sons in 40k. Are they usable in Kill team in this edition or is it just bespoke premade teams you select a few models from per match?2: Back in og kill team a normie friend who loved tyranids played with us when i bought and painted him the box that was just like 10 Genestealers, its his birthday in 3 weeks and i was looking at that recentish Tyranid box. Is that a deal like Nemesis Claw? Or can he use like three or those and some of his Genestealers for example? Also did my nurgle lads every come back or am i still sticking to Gellarpox?
Took about an hour just to clip all these parts off the sprue. I'm guessing it'll take another two to scrape off mouldlines. Definitely the least fun part of the process for me. I believe one of the sprues containing two longer wall sections was bent into a curve, which I'm hoping won't have a major effect on the final build or can be fixed.>>97274755No long range response options is a pretty rough handicap for sure. It lets your opponent take up some really aggressive positions, especially on high grounds. Plus chaos cult is, if I've understood things correctly, somewhat reliant on perfect distance management and some tricks that I can only equate to physics engine exploits to compete. The few times I've played against them it was just a matter of taking the objectives in ways they couldn't contest and eliminating any of the council + basic cultists, resulting in the rest having no ability to grab points afterwards. They can also get stonewalled by some teams that inflict to hit penalties in melee. But they're good shenanigans even so. Depending on what you find fun, they can give some fun results. And yeah, a good new year for the lot of us. A few hours in so far and nothing has gone horribly wrong yet.
>>97242531>Officio AssassinorumSeconding this, need more assassins
>>972747851. You can use your rubrics2. The only official tyranid kill team is the new raveners kit, and you can't legally run any other models with it unless you homebrewPlague marines have a team, or you can run legionaries with the mark of nurgle, and the gellarpox infected still have rulesYou can find the rules for all the teams on warhammer community or at wahapedia.ru/kill-team3/the-rules/core-rules/
>>97274785>>97275290Or just use the battlekit site linked in the OP which has everything and updates faster than waha

Anyone got a pdf of Dead Silence to share? Wanna read cool Space Wolves blurbs and art
>>97278164The link in the op has a scan of the latest core rules for comparison
I bought two boxes of blooded to build but I have a few questions before I start:1. Is there a standard loadout for the leader? 2. Are the Ogryn and/or Enforcer auto includes or should I build four extra troopers instead?3. Any blooded tips would be appreciated
>>972908441. Since you're limited to one plasma weapon now, I think you'll generally wanna take the pistol and power weapon2. I'd consider the Enforcer to generally be an auto-take, since he's a strong combatant with an anti-injury aura and the ability to enable out-of-activation actions/attacks. The Ogryn is more map/matchup dependent, but can be useful as a Distraction CarnifexAs for general tips, Blooded are all about timed aggression and trading. Have a plan for who gets your Blooded tokens and always bear in mind any effect that lets you count as having a Blooded token/Gaze of the GodsYou should have your Corpseman throwing out Relentless to as many people as possible (especially the Ogryn pre-game if you take him). In an edition where Relentless is rarer than it used to be, being able to hand it out freely is very strong, especially on a team thats mostly hitting on 4+You have the unique ability to shoot into melee with your ploy, abuse it (especially if your opponent forgets you can)
Alright. I played a game as goremongers V angels of death. Horrific experience. What do I do inorder to not repeat that exact experience on volkus? I'll worry about gallowdark/tomb world later.
>>97296333if we knew what your experience was we may be able to answer but right now in general, play different or dont play against angels of death (or other spacemarines probably)
>>97296537Volkus map 2, sniper perched on ruin C roof, and one of his intercessor fuckers go on the tall part of ruin B as well. Couldn't really get my stalker into a position to deal with that and he had a lot of guys funneled on the C side and I guess I should have just given that side up and gone for the B ruin but double fucking shooting is still a problem. I had ran 4 aspirants, leader, stalker, inciter, and skullclaimer.
>>97296728Goremongers is a pretty tough team to play, right? And their matchup against marines is pretty unfortunate too. IIRC when I did the math they needed a full blood tank to trade favourably with a melee marine, but even then the odds weren't fantastic. That's definitely something you want to do though. If you can manage to quickly trade off one for one for the four of his guys that are on the ground, he'll be in a pretty bad position to take objectives. Easier said than done of course.
>>97298236yeah I'm not really sure what to do. I want to play something that isn't going to get declassified any time soon but i'm not some WAAC fag so i don't want to do canoptek or any of the new marine teams. I could take the easy road and just do nemesis claw but I don't want to play marines.
