Total War is INFAMOUS for fans demanding naval battles that never come. Naval fights in gameplay are entirely auto-resolve. So what will the overworld be? If there's any travel between planets, will it be the same 0 gameplay auto-resolve? How will it handle stance systems like ambushes and hiding? If singular planets and settlements, even so I'd ask how it's balanced around factions that easily drop units on the other side of the planet in the middle of enemy territory.

I believe I can smack Archaon without any kind of mechanic whatsoever as minor norscan factions, although that might be an oversight by CA/modders. Still, the principle is the same and you can think of other uncanonical situations you can get into with WHF just as in 40k. Just think about all the cases of near misses, high tension (Ork snipers with the Celestial Lions, various standoffs with the space wolves) and now you're dealing with a timeline where cooler heads did not prevail. I can easily imagine a timeline where Rouboute's counter-coup didn't pull off in time/efficiently and now the empire is split apart with a new heresy.
