So all the chaos gods have an animal that represent them with some thematic purposes behind it
>Khorn
Has Canis, pack animals that follows the strongest and can be very ferocious animals who rips their prey apart. Makes sense for the god of blood and combat
>Tzeench
Birds, again makes sense because he's a god of trickery and planning and birds are always around spying on you. Hearing and watching what you do
>Slaneesh
Snakes, again makes sense because snakes can be very beautiful creatures but they also pack a deadly venom that will kill
>Nurgle
Frogs, why? They aren't exactly creatures associated with death, diseases, rebirth or even nature itself. So why frogs?
>>
Frogs and toads are slimy and fat, that's why.
>>
>>97165265
Half of nurgles follows are malnourished
>>
>>97165258
>Nurgle
>Frogs, why?
It's flies. Toads are just a window dressing.
>>
>>97165258
How did your last game of 40k go?
>>
Revelation 16:13: "And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet."
>>
>>97165654
>Toad dragon
>Plague Toads
>Pox Riders
>>
>>97165258
nurgle is based on the assyrian mesopotamian god nergal; god of war, death and disease who ruled over the underworld. frogs are associated with fertility and renewal in mesopotamian mythos so it kinda fits his mo.
>>
>>97165258
Toads, not frogs.

>>97165265
Fpbp.

>>97165272
Irrelevant. You're confusing "well nourished" with "fat and bloated", because you're fucking retarded and don't realize that the bloating is due to disease.
>>
>>97166535
Toads is a type of frog, you don't know this yet call me fucking retarded
>>
>>97165258
>birds are always around spying on you
those aren't birbs, all birbs got died by the gobernment and replaced them with robits
>>
>>97165258
Toads are often seen as filthy, especially since they live in disease ridden swamps
>>
>>97166563
>he doesn't understand the difference between toads and frogs
Yep, you're actually fucking retarded. I am happy to have my initial assessment confirmed.
>>
>>97166830
He's right, though: toads are a type of frog.
>>
>>97165258
Frogs are swamp denizens, and swamps are the domain of nurgle because they're full of fetid stagnant water, disease, and generally miserable to be in. As other anons have said, he's much more about flies, slugs, leeches, mosquitos, and various disease vectors.
>>
>>97165673
Oh shit dawg is this the explanation for why Nurgle's holy number is 3? :O
>>
>>97166727
>those aren't birbs, all birbs got died by the gobernment and replaced them with robits
That's just what they WANT you to believe!
>>
>>97167984
Swamps are awesome. I like to pitch a tent on the drier patches now and then.
>>
>>97165673
> Doctrine thief's doctrine disparages animals sacred to Egypt and Babylon
Imagine my surprise.
>>
>>97165258
>They aren't exactly creatures associated with death, diseases, rebirth or even nature itself.
they are a biblical plague that was cursed on Egypt. that's the association
>>
>>97165258
To the Egyptians, the frog was a symbol of life and fertility, since millions of them were born after the annual flooding of the Nile, which brought fertility to the otherwise barren lands.
There is also the story of Moses unleashing a plague of frogs.
>>
>>97165684
frogs follow flies and eat them
>>
>>97168609
Do you live in the deep south by any chance

Whatever happened to the idea of adding four more chaos gods? Seeing Malal and Hashut in 40k would be dopd
>>
>>97169699
There is Vashtorr but it seems like he's currently being bent over by Iron Warriors and the Dark Mechanicus.
>>
>>97168883
based I didn't make that connection
>>97165258
Khorne also has
>spider, scorpions, bats (bat wings on bloodthristers)
Tzeentch
>Aquatic life in general, his symbol is often stylised as a fish after all
Slaanesh
>Crabs, his demons have crab claws
Nurgle
>Toads, flies maggots
>>
>>97168571
Nurgle's holy number is 7, you philistine. Realm of Chaos: The Lost and the Damned, page 14.
>>
>>97169460
I do, yeah. Nothing like a good swamp, or marsh, or bug. Noise of those crickets and frogs echoes the music of the spheres.
>>
>>97170200
Bog, bah. Damn autocorrect.
>>
>>97165258
They have official animal representation, most of which can be seen in the faces of their greater daemons. You're wrong about slaanesh and nurgle
Slaanesh's animal is the cow and nurgle's is the fly
>>
>>97170816
>Slaanesh's animal is the cow
Cow you say...
>>
>>97165662
No answer because no games. Clear.
>>
>>97165258
Frogs symbolize rebirth. They start as tadpoles and change into something else, like a slimier butterfly. Khorne is also hyenas, not dogs or wolves.
>>
>>97170070
Vashtorr is literally a basedjack. Those that seethe about the 4 gods of Chaos and hailed Vashtorr as a breathe of fresh air are undergoing a constant humiliation ritual.

It will be interesting if Vastorr will fuck over the IW in a big way but currently it seems like they can't lose.
>>
>Concatechism
Dark Mech are furtively one big tech joke.
>>
>>97165258
The Total War Norsca faction has it Hound (K) Eagle (T) Snake (S) and Crow (N)

I was a bit surprised by Crow, you'd think corvids would be with the bird-motif one.

Especially since they're one of the most intelligent birds...

Because the Rat was take-taken by someone else.

>>97170816
The Keeper of Secrets is really the only bovine thing in Slaneesh's roster and even there they can sometimes be squiddy or just humany/elfy instead.

>>97173454
Warhammer: Age of Reckoning and earlier Norsca lore had Tzeentch as 'The Raven'.
Also I think it was partly done as misdirection about the identity of the advisor's 'pet' Corvid just in case anyone played Norsca as their first campaign.
>>
>>97177731
>The Keeper of Secrets is really the only bovine thing in Slaneesh's roster
The lord of change is the only real avian tzeentch in tzeentch, that and tzaangors, but slaanesh also has Slaangors
>>
>>97165258
>>Khorn
Chimp ofc
>>
>>97165258
Cause nurgle's shit is all green and bulbous and covered in warts and pustules, not hard to understand
Also frogs are seen as dirty and disgusting and live in swamps which are associated with him
>>
>>97173454
It's because crows eat carrion and they have no vultures in Norsca
>>
>>97173252
but the paragraph right after that is the IW's entire world being obliterated by all four powers armies in a short time?
>>
>>97178443
I do get the carrion thing, but heck even the Tzeentchi advisor has a Crow familiar. Feels like they should have eschewed birds altogether. For symbols of fecundity there are: Flies, Worms, Toads as OP mentions, Bats, Maggots, basically anything but cribbing from Nurgle's own adversary
>>
>>97178695
Yeah but they can't unbattery their demons.

>Yeah, now we do gnats than flies
>Wait but won't the frogs eat them?
>Trust the process, Mo.
>>
>>97178786
not to press the point too much, but yeah, they can just destroy the demon engine and free the demon

I look at the Fiend of Slaanesh, Seeker of Slaanesh, Dechala, Azazel, Hellstriders, Pleasureseekers and all the charriots units. I see snakes, not cows
>>
>>97179296
You can put snakes inside of a cow, ask Slaanesh how.

SNEK TITS?!
>>
>>97178743
That's true but you also have to look at it from the perspective of a norse warrior culture, you can imagine a tribe having legends of the god of rot appearing to a champion in the form of a raven pecking at the corpse of someone he just killed but it's decidedly less evocative if he shows up as a single fly or maggot
