I think we should normalize naming characters in our tabletop games the way people name racehorses. Give me a character named Waterdeep Back Alley, they don't even have to be a rogue. Have a strike team of Urbanmechs led by a dude calling himself Strike Strike Strike issue a batchall. The Ordo Inquisitorus has Macro Cannon V investigating a chaos cult. I'm not even giving these weird ass names justice, just go full gonzo

Why should we?

from a previous job i have a bunch of storm names memorised, and i use those for NPCs.

nobody noticed that specifically, but someone in my group did point out:
>...anon, how come all the characters' names go in alphabetical order? Abigail, then Barney, now Clodagh...?

This isn't a bad idea
If you're running a Discworld game, that is

So is this a real thread or lazy advertizing for a pornographic yakuza slot machine

Characters arent named drongo or farlap because they're human beings you anime-addled brainrotted retard. Horses are named that way because they race and compete. You give a funny name to them, or a ship (may day, jobsite, X-cellence) or a combat vehicle (daddy's belt, duck) or a squad or team

I think you just wanted to talk about Umamusume, but didn't want to talk to /v/ or /a/.

>I think we should normalize
Fuck off, you ton't get to tell us what to do. Just do it yourself and eat all the cringe you get.

Why should we?

Why?
>>

I was about to insult OP by implying it sounded like some retarded Discworld bullshit, but I see the observation has already been made.

I did that in a zombie game, used tokens with a letter from A-Z scribbled on them, and placed them randomly "Zombie Abigail" "Zombie Frank" "Zombie William" that kinda deal, as a way to name 'em instead of doing "that zombie above the other zombie." or "that zombie by the watercooler"
>>
>>97170018
Why does it need to be normalized just go for it

Weebs are strange. It seems literally anything becomes acceptable if a Jap has done it.
>>
>>97176170
Yes, because Japan is objectively superior.

What are you talking about? Everyone gives their racehorses stupid names.

In this case, it's because Uma is just a pretty good IP for its own reasons, not that it makes horse racing cool because "Thing, Japan". There is none of that in the game or the various series. Instead, it mixes cute anime girls with simple personalities, either being silly or serious and dramatic in a pretty easy to follow sports anime formula, mixed with real world horse lore, which is kinda fascinating. It's not because Japan made losing your life savings at the track seem cool, either, because there is no gambling on horses in the umaverse. It's all done purely for the love of racing.

What's with all this fucking "we" shit lately?
We aren't "we", dawg. You are just a dumbass with a shit opinion, don't put that shit on me.

I honestly really like this kind of naming but usually the other players won't be down, doesn't really work when it's Legolas, Bob and Sirius Stardust
