How would you make them more enticing?
>>97171363>retarded bullshit copied straight from reddit>from more than two years ago>about a video gamegreat thread, really
>>97171366>D&D>video game
anyway, here's another graph with a smaller disparityDo note that BG3 (the game from OP's pic) Hill Dwarfs lose their +2 Strength and +2 Constitution, being the only race to have +2 +2, for a +2 +1 to any attribute that every race gets, which might have some impact.
Also I feel the BG3 audience wouldn't be into dwarfs, considering the tone.
>>97171363Is this BG3? If so, the answer is that elves are the only race with attractive Caucasian faces. The rest are mystery meat and asians.
>>97171363>>97171414>>97171417>>>/v/
I was surprised when I first saw it. I thought tieflings would be in the top three and dragonborn in the top five. Why the hell would you want to boost the popularity of non-polar races? Are you a some kind of DEI, and why do you want inclusivity for the sake of inclusivity?
greasy pepperoni
>>97171420Even gnomes have an attractive white face or two
>>97171363One thing to consider is the "role" of every race and the spread of the BG3 Origin characters. The party starts with a Rogue, Wizard, Fighter, Barbarian, Cleric and Warlock and the Dark Urge defaults to Sorcerer. The group lacks a good heroic (or anti-heroic) "face" which leads most created characters to be Elves, Human and Half-Elves usually with the Paladin or Ranger classes. If the starting Origin Spread had lacked a Fighter or Cleric, Dwarves would likely have been more popular. if it had lacked a Rogue Halflings would likely have been more popular.>>97171414That data is slightly biased due to Human Fighter being the default starting point of D&D Beyond's character creator.
>>97171363>most picked is not even that far ahead of the next 2>the most picked is represented with a pale bar>everyone else is a brown barThey just can't fucking help themselves.
>>97171363>how come no one plays midgets?Few people actually *want* to be disabled.
>>97171363Traditional videogames?>>97171466True but the racial bonuses influence the chosen race based on the chosen Class. It would surely make sense when comparing with the most played Classes.During playtest, the most played by far was Tav, Human Fighter, simple as.
Do lots of dungeons and fortresses with passageways the other races are too big to fit in.
>>97171525"Tav the Human Fighter" still falls within the "(anti)heroic face/lead" zone even if Fighters get no real benefit from Charisma. The BG3 Origin characters (aside from Dark Urge) are all designed to be quirky companions rather than the Main Character/Protagonist and as a result players end up defaulting to create a character more worthy of being a protagonist than anything creative. If such a role had actually been filled by one of the Origins, custom characters would likely have ended up being a bit more diverse as players would have been more willing to create a "sidekick" type character.
>>97171525BG3 is nearly straight up D&D and I think it pretty obviously influenced 5.5
>>97171363>>97171414When people pick the characters they play as they typically don't have an original oc in mind, but some kind of trope they've seen before in another piece of media they thought was "neato" and wanted to replicate. The second other popular reason to pick a character is just a straight forward self-insert, which in the case of Baldur's Gate 3 probably so strongly leaned towards Elves & Tieflings due to the surprising popularity this game had with women. To clump those things together with your question: people don't frequently play small races because they typically have very few "interesting" media reps and when they do they're often depicted as *joke characters. You need to remember that the Devs themselves even fell for this: small/short race social interactions hadn't been modeled into the game *AT LAUNCH*, so it either wasn't coming up in play testing or even the devs didn't think it was a priority. Combine this with the fact that they also made the Halflings & Gnomes completely fucking hideous and it's just not happening. *A rare inverse example is Chilchuck from Dungeon Meshi. Chilchuck is INSANELY POPULAR with women, perhaps the 2nd or 3rd most popular male character with women. They found him completely irresistible the exact micro-second they discovered he was a realistic middle-aged heterosexual divorced father of 3. >>97171430>I was surprised when I first saw it. I thought tieflings would be in the top three and dragonborn in the top five.I don't have it on me, but I heard Dragonborn were really far more popular as a "second playthrough pick".
>>97171722>They found him completely irresistible the exact micro-second they discovered he was a realistic middle-aged heterosexual divorced father of 3.Who looks like a twink
>>97171722>perhaps the 2nd or 3rd most popular male character with womenThere just aren't that many worth a damn in the first place and only homos care about Senshi
>>97171417lol
>>97171397>Baldur's Gate 3 is not vidya
>>97171363No one likes manlets
>>97171363>>>/vrpg/ is that way.We literally have a board for fags like you, and yet you still come to /tg/.
>>97171363>How come no one plays little folk in BG3?They have shit stats>How would you make them more enticing?Give them better stats
>>97171363Depends on what setting and what system. Which is?
>>97171363As someone who usually likes gnomes and dwarves there were several things off in this game>strange proportions and faces. Felt more like a human midget than a non-human being>Bad voices. I can't play a dwarf who sounds like a young English boy at Eton and that's ALL OF THEM.>The camera just isn't meant to accommodate them.>No companions are short races. >Very little reactivity. It all goes to Teeflings and Drow.
>>97171363let little folks get epic mounts like ents or dinosaurs
>>97171363Nobody likes a manlet.
>>97171363Short races are lame and gay. Its not the 80s anymore.
Because brown is a shitty color (literally)
>>97173258Saars...
Female Dwarves have the sexiest stock faces in BG3
>>97171363I'd rather be a woman than a manlet.
>>97171546you can just temporarily transform for that
>>97171363Limited movement range in a combat heavy game is a pretty massive flaw. It's also why Monks were fucking ridiculous compared to everyone else.
>>97171417Well done, I feel more disciplined and virtuous already.
>>97171414This makes me want to play an Aasimar Ranger simply by virtue of it being the least picked combination.
>>97171363The kind of person who plays BG3 (and DnD by extension) isn't interested in actually playing the game, they just want to create characters they can commission porn of.
