Like the soul of the game was being sucked out and fucked for money.I thought to myself. I'm glad magic would never sell out like this. I'm glad they've solved power creep at least a little bit. But here we are. Every couple months the next power creep happens, then the next, all to make the line go up. It can only go up so far until people lose interest and just like me with shadowverse they never play again.

Now there's no compromise because creatures are simply the best, and their supporting permanents can be even more broken because without a statline, at this point, a card can cost anything and do anything for any amount of mana. The power nine are barely fucking impressive at all and in a pre-FIRE modern deck, would be almost completely useless against the sheer value of a current year modern deck or standard deck.

It's a very painful read and the first time I've read an MTG story since they were in books form with fat packs. I hate the students. They are painfully stupid with small, pointless lives and goals. Everything feels like a bad collaboration event story where Lorwyn characters and places are merely backdrops for the characters to walk across on the way to their next destination. The brief moments where the students are off screen are better I suppose, but it still has not elevated itself to a passing grade. If I could nit-pick further, the descriptions are very poor and fixate on the wrong subjects. Is this really the best they could do?
