>>97189707>TQFriend runs this and it's such a belligerent pain in the ass
any nioh chads in the chat
>TQIt's such a stupid deck, just filled it with all the good black ramp&pump I could find, and yet it likes to steamroll my table.
>>97189707>TQI first built her literally as a joke. I didn't think I would win any games, I thought I would just get everything removed forever, and the deck wouldn't do shit. Fast forward about 1 year and it is my most hated deck. I love her.
>>97189707vren. we were supposed to build ultra budget but turns out only edicts is strong enough to compete with b3 decks
>>97189750how do you draw cards
>>97189741That looks really strong
Hey fags how does this work with myriad? Would the created tokens from myriad effects get the +2 benefit?
>>97189741friend pilots one. his deck was the reason why I started to look for board wipes that get around indestructible.
>>97189777myriad tokens do not see the "whenever you attack" trigger
>>97189777Depends on how you stack the triggers
Do you ever run shitty underpowered cards just because of their cool flavor?
>>97189759blue spells. I feel like running stuff that draws from deaths is a trap for this kind of deck since having like 3-4 edicts back to back is fast enough to win alone so any midrange synergy engines would just dial it down. sure it's glass cannon in a way that if vren is put in the moon there is little to recover with but hey that's the risk I took when building budget
>>97189759>how do you draw cards in the two best card drawing colors
>>97189774I didn't think so when I built the deck, now I know better. Turns out when you only really have to protect one creature and that creature is a threat themselves, you win games.>>97189782And before I even played my first game, I stuck in cards that would get around cards that would get around indestructible. My playgroup LOVES exile, so it wasn't even a choice.
>>97189825he said ultra budget
>Ragavan as commander>100 Mountain as deckCould that work?
>>97189822>stuff that draws from deaths is a trap for this kind of deckbecause vren shuts it off
>>97189847oh yeah, I forgot blue is the most starved in cheap draw alternatives
>>97189852sure, you only have to consistently connect with your 2/1 after turn 2
>>97189862only for your opponents. grim haruspex and the like still work
>>97189847>countless night's whisper variants
>>97189818Depends on how shitty and underpowered they are. There's a point where I won't even find any situation where I could use them.
>a fucking movie poster can now be your commanderwhen will other brand logos become playable from the zone?
>>97190030zootopia UB 2027
>>97189707>tqThey are still stuck in the board state = win mindset.
>>97189729Funnily enough, when I run her she always performs worse than she should because people hate her out on principle.
legendary noggle commander when?
>TQthis commander is absolutely cracked. The card disadvantage is so easy to turn around, and its amazing what she does to my pods collective brain. it shouldnt be this easy to buy favors with her, and have big fucking creatures gain +1/+1 counters and flying to swing elsewhere. If she was UB, the outrage of powercreep would be insane
>>97190091based i just bought her precon this week
>>97190077there wont be no Noggles for the Niggles in Lorwyn
>>97190091I play a lot of Rule of Law effects, so I'm always happy to see Bumbleflower.
>>97190093the precon itself is absolutely ass and i regret buying it. but its a great way to keep her power somewhat in balance
>>97190105>the precon itself is absolutely assreally? everyone else has said its one of the more stronger ones straight out of the box
>>97189721She cute
>>97189740He looks nice but the high CMC scares me.
>>97190030We have Iron Maiden album cover art btw
>>97190091this, my face has been flattened by her ass so many times
took a big bong rip and splurged on some the mechanically unique ff scene cards. some seem pretty bonkers like duelist flame, judgment of alexander, fated clash and flash photo
Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
What's a fun control commander?Fun for me. Not my opponents
>>97190205Kroxa!
>>97190205inniaz
>>97190160you just play him as big mana reanimator. with mono black ramp, he likes to enter the battlefield between t4-6 (in theory on t3, but then you have no targets for his ability). if he enters late, you should have a few demons by then to profit from his lord effects. edicts and board wipes help controlling the board in the meantime and give you even more reanimation fodder.guess he would have problems in a competent bracket 3+ pod, but even there you can just go full gary and vito and use him to supply that plan.
>>97190115people said the same thing about the Warhammer Precons, and they all were incredibly slow. Her precon doesnt enable double casting at all, it plays very clunky
>TQDo you prefer short games or long games?
>>97190254>Her precon doesnt enable double casting at all, it plays very clunkyi did read that one of the most important things to do first is to cut high mana filler and get your curve down so you can doublecast more
average mana value on precons is always so ass>here's your avm 4.0 with 40+ lands bro enjoy skipping your first two turnsand don't get me started on the 5cmc removals
>>97190205celestial kirin
>>97190256i prefer short stackswith long noses
>>97190256I prefer FUN games
>>97190258Don't forget the 5 ramp cards you get. And if you're lucky, you get to draw a bit eventually.>>97190256I like when games take at least 6 turns so that I don't need to fish for a hand that can do everything in the first 3-4 turns.
Just got light paws, time for some low powered deck gameplay.
>>971902566 to 10 turns is the optimal length for my pod's games
Anyone here still buy cards and build decks even though you don't really play? What keeps you spending money on such an expensive ass hobby?
>>97190258that is peak. early turns do nothing when everyone is just casting bombs
>>97190311I do. UBslop is easy to resell at profit. especially anything short printed unique ones like holiday boxes and secret lairs
>>97190293How do you even have fun playing these commander on curve into fold against removal type decks?
>>97190311Honestly I do.My group hasn't met in 6 months but I'm still brewingI guess it's because making a deck feels more like a brain exercise of making something work
>>97190256long games are great, granted it isnt just constant boardwipes back and forth.
>>97190311Yeah, I make decks constantly and I try to make them all have unique game plans and play patterns.
>>97189707>What deck do you play or is in your group that does better than it should? With ClaraGets absurd value because at the end of the day it is a creature heavy historic deck. And historic has a ton of support. Full of jank creatures like doctors that don't do shit, but ends up taking over due to speed and large amounts of value. Also there is enough "legendarys get +1/+1" shit to put any tribal lord to shame. Effectiveness varies depending on what you get on turn 2/3 with him. Though the deck is not remotely dependent on the commanders. Clara gets cast maybe once every 4 games and is basically just there so I can run Morophon.
>>97190311I have nothing else in life that I enjoy and I literally leave the house once per week for this. It is my only social interaction outside of family that I hate.
>>97190256It is less about the length of the game and more the length of everyones turns. A game going long can still be fun if everyone is taking turns. A game that is 3 hours because one guy has a deck that causes that or some shit is not fun.
>>97190258Its a precon
>>97190311I havent bought new cards in 3 years. I dont like the direction the game is going but when I'm traveling edh is a pretty fun way to pass the time.New lgsNew playersNew metaSame old decks
>>97190258Because they are bracket 2.
>>97190091>4 mana>has to give opponents 2 cards to draw 2>will keep giving them more draw with further spells and not giving you anyyour pod is just retarded.
>>97190404this but nekusar
>>97190388>>97190396>bracket2/precons are ass because they are bracket2/preconsokay, but they are still ass, which is the entire point.
>>97190429Good question. What is the point of a deck that cannot win by turn 6?
>>97190447>Good question.there was no question schizo-kun
>>97190456I misread. Please understandu it is 6:30 AM
>>97189707>tqI built a big body etbs/clones deck on a whim and I've gotten terror of the peaks combos off more times than I have any business doing so. Even when I don't win by combo all the big etb value + having a bomb in the zone is so good
>>97189707>TQKorlash, Heir to Blackblade. While the card is pretty mid regenerate keeps him around and the lack of game breaking ability makes him something people keep glossing over until he punches your face in for lethal commander damage
>tqMake a lot of $50-$75 decks since my lgs always has newer players. Once made an Edric deck that ended up going undefeated for a few weeks before I sold it to someone. 1-2 mana flying/unblockable creatures cheap counterspells and 5-6 buff spells that make a board go from ~6 power to lethal.Kid I sold it to was upset it didnt win anymore after he replaced half the 1/1s with random simic goodstuff
>>97190404>what is a buildaroundthe fuck has anything you listed anything to do with the opponents, and not the builder/pilot?
>>97190581mono black Edric is so much cooler
>so what does that card do>um do you know starscream>just tell me what the card doesIt wasnt until like 20 min later it dawned on me that he wasnt just talking about transformers for no reason. Lol ub.
>>97189878>countlessFeel free to post them any time. And make sire they draw 2 for 2.
>>97190615you mean gix?
>>97189707Love this little gnome nigga. Finna build him.
>>97190616>what does that card do>oh, its just like card X but in mono-white>...what?>it's a weaker Y>just read the card out loud, please
>>97190702Cards are so long and people are so retarded that it's not infrequent I experience people getting exasperated trying to read their cards aloud. They start to shortcut or paraphrase shit, it's pathetic. I usually just ask if I can see the card. Also whats up with this new captcha?
What the fuck is edric
>>97190702This but unironically, comparing cards is less of a useful exercise and more of a way to flex cardpool knowledge. Mostly because people are actively bad at pointing out useful distinctions But also in my experience people do bring up random, unrelated shit when you ask "what does that do" pretty often.
>>97190734It's like coastal piracy but for everyone as long as they are not dealing damage to me specifically.
>>97190734An elf.
>>97190734https://edhrec.com/
Post decks.
>>97190615>mono black Edric is so much coolerSimic edric has several thousand 1-2 mana evasive creatures for about a nickel each, the stuff that makes for a good alpha strike caps out at a buck.Part of the reason the deck did so well is despite the budget limit it still had a ton of untapped dualsMono Black could be neat but I wouldnt be able to do it under the arbitrary price point I gave myself due to half the randoms I play with using precons + random draft rares
>>97190759You get 9 gold stars for running Cerodon Yearling and a foil copy of Balefire Liege.

>>97190280I need more big schnoz goblin girls
>>97190759sure
>>97190859Vigilance is the best keyword for aggressive decks in multiplayer formats
Never forget, the troon sitting across from you at the lgs could be the next person to do a mass shooting. Ignore their pronouns and focus them for being a faggot while calling them a faggot so they kill themselves before they kill others. It is your civic duty.
>>97190922Go back
>>97190922are they hot though?
>>97190759Still so many cute interactions I want to do before this deck comes apart.
>>97190922Based and checked
>>97190922this but the chuddie across from you.
>>97190922This, but focusing the most overweight player at the table.
>>97190922I tried this with the local dragonfucker but that's what caused a terrorist incident. The FBI is still looking for him.
>>97190759Haven't had occasion to make too many updates recently, but we'll see what Lorwyn brings.
>>97190921Yeah. 10/22 of the creatures in the deck have it. Wish they all could, but it gets by most of the time.>>97190962What does this deck do? I see some stax, lots of counters, but some interesting choices like the Warhammer.
>>97190077Sorry, racist word
>>97191031It's focused on removing counters as much as proliferating them. Tekuthal's activated ability is one colorless and two phyrexian blue to remove 3 counters among artifacts, creatures, and planeswalkers you control. You can start a saga creature at one (or a saga-turned-artifact), proliferate it up to three, and then before the ability resolves activate Tekuthal to suck the counters off. Sagas only get sacrificed IF they have the final counter on the resolution of their last ability so they'll stay behind. Then there's cards like Chronozoa and Ambling Stormshell and Glen Elendra Archmage, which you can profit off by removing their counters.Decree of Silence can form a soft lock when you turn it into an artifact with Liquimetal Coating/Torque and keep removing the depletion counters off it. In a similar vein you can never lose any permanents to Smokestack while your opponents are losing 3+ of them a rotation.>stack trigger for Smokestack>sacrifice 0 permanents>put soot counter on>proliferate soot counter, goes to 3 with Tekuthal in play>before your next turn activate Tekuthal, remove all 3 soot counters back to 0>repeatThe warhammer is just there as lifegain, same with the ironic Soul Conduit include. Because this deck can blow through life rapidly. In an ideal world it'd be a shadowspear but I'm not spending 40 bucks on that shit.
>>97191075>Shadowspear>40 bucksIt feels increasingly weird to play with my friends when any halfway decent card appreciates in price to quite this degree. Things I cracked in packs or fished out of dollar rare piles get treated as high-end staples a mere half decade later.
>>97191101I don't actually mind too much. Like yeah it sucks I won't have a shadowspear; it isn't absolutely necessary though. It's a bit weird (the foil Cyc Rift in that list I pulled from a draft, back when it was a worthless junk rare because nobody played commander) but new expensive slop gets printed every other month these days. And while some staples are expensive building a strong EDH deck has never been more affordable, assuming a competent deckbuilder at the helm.
I run a lot of untap permanent cards and a lot of mana rocks, what’s some good ways of generating infinite mana? more reliable the better>inb4 dramatic isochronknow that one already
>>97190962>>97191075I recognize that carpet autistic legolas anonwish more people would make effortposts about the nuances of their decks like you
>>97191101I remember when I was fishing out all of anything that looked remotely good for EDH out of the $1 rare box at my LGS. Traded a bunch of those gems in for dual lands. Biggest banger was my foil Mindbreak Trap.
>>97189818This technically could do something in Darien.
>>97191120Very perceptive anon.
>>97190982The difference is that none of the basedboys at my LGS can tell im a chud from a glance, i mean they might get suspicious when they see im not excited as they are about sportsball, marvelslop or the heckin latest UB secret lair but thats not enough to go on.Meanwhile the transbian AGP troons that walk in are unmistakably clocky with their died hair, trans flag stickers on their deck boxes, broader shoulders than a world of warcraft orc, pathetic 0% voice trained falsetto, and catgirl :3 facemask that they need to cover their 5 o clock shadow that also muffles their voice so you wouldnt be able to hear a word they say anyway.
>>97191115Isochron Scepter + Dramatic ReversalIf you're a Johnny you should be making the combos yourself. If you're a Spike there's plenty of resources available for you to find infinites based on untapping. If you're a Timmy you don't deserve to be spoonfed.
>>97190921Vigilance only matters if you're also facing fellow aggressive creature decks and if that's the case i'd rather have flyingHaste meanwhile will help your creatures regardless of the matchup
>>97191101>get some cards in a shoebox when you're a kid because your mom's friend's son stopped playing>you're a kid, they're cards, you don't think too hard about it>twenty years later some of those cards are now several hundred dollarsI would never spend that much on cardboard for myself, but I've actually bought some expensive staples for my friends specifically to offset the advantage I got there.
>>97191101>friend and I used to religiously sift through the dollar rare box at our old LGS every time we attend>remember squandered resources spiking up to $10>we remember there being multiple in the box>go and buy them>fast forward to today>$80 card

>>97191174>>97191253by the way, this normally wouldn’t be an issue for me to figure out, except that gatherer removed the search UI that was created by competent people and replaced it with one created by retards. Booleans don’t even work on it anymore.

>>97191411I wish I was joking or making this up but I've actually seen something like this happen IRL. Shit was wild, people even chuddier looking than the chud practically leapt up to the troons defense. I feel this might be more likely than you think.
>>97191448In functional communities, it's possible for people to disagree without hating each other. Someone might be sick of seeing trans black characters everywhere and suspicious of the overall globalist agenda, but he'll still leap to Taylor's defense when someone starts screaming "faggot" because, come on, it's TAYLOR. Might be a bit weird now, but we go way back.
>>97191350Edhrec is fine if you use it as a supplement or a base to build off.
Im going full circle> make 4th doctor deck with mostly legendaries> hate it, remake it as the artifact list> still feels weird, swap in 3rd doctor as commander> commit even harder to artifacts> swap back to 4th doctor to lead the artifact horde
>>97191411>>97191448It's true, you have to be sneaky. Act very friendly with the troon and when you win the game lowkey ask him "You know you'll never be a real girl, right?", then call him a dumb faggot and watch the tears.
>>97191489What about this was lowkey, in your mind?

>>97190311I'm an optimist.
>>97191721>a dying Jacewho looks like this BTW
>>97191708Essentially it's its own area of the multiverse. The plot of EoE is relatively self-contained; the two main protagonists are mercenaries working for Tezzeret to find something for him. Tezzeret is there because every single person in the known multiverse hates him at this point so he had to run pretty far to avoid his ass being grass for his involvement in the Phyrexian Invasion. The thing they're here to retrieve turns out to be the Endstone, a magic rock that can rewrite the past. They get tangled up with the guy chosen by the rock to carry it to its destination, Alpharael, who is a member of the Monoists, a suicide cult who took the idea of "a perfect paradise after the universe ends" to mean "we should help the universe die faster to get there." They also get into a conflict with two members of the Summists, who are a cult that worships the Trolley Problem. Tezzeret works out that the Endstone is semi-aware, the work of a greater power, and trying to return to this power; so he decides to help it to possibly earn brownie points with this power or kill it if needed. They get involved in a massive war over the Endstone, and eventually reach the barrier between the Edge and the rest of the universe, where the Endstone's maker- a species that uploaded itself into a hivemind- takes it from them, but not before it loses three fingers in the process. The story ends with Tezzeret holding the chopped off fingers in his hand and grinning.

>have character you're trying to make a face of the franchise (Elspeth)>have several planeswalker cards of her already with mostly similar abilities well supported by other cards that even the densest Timmy could build>zero legendary cards to let you actually build a themed deck with her at the helm>release a card that would be absolutely perfect to slap her name and art on>make it of some random nobody bitch (Myrel) we'll never see againAnd people wonder why UB is taking over the game, when WOTC are absolute buffoons when it comes to IP management and storytelling?
>>97191927>>release a card that would be absolutely perfect to slap her name and art onExcept for the teensy tiny detail that the set it was releasing in was set millennia before Elspeth was born.
>>97191927>wtf why is a planeswalker getting planeswalker cards, the card type made to depict planeswalkers?wait until modern horizons 4 if you want your Elspeth cardalso I have genuinely never seen anything showing Elspeth is being shilled as the face of the franchise. She hasn't even gotten her face in the ads of a set since March of the Machine, which was a set she was important to. The go-to face of White isn't even her, it's Ajani.

Do you think they winded down selling precons because tourist bought them and never upgrade them?
>>97192204Huh?
>>97192201tergrid discard. it's pretty boring tho
>>97192201Maelstorm wanderer and ignore the table by vomiting your entire deck on a single turn
>>97192204they winded down precons because people complained there were too many and the precon exclusive cards got worse and worse.
2013 was peak Magic
>>97192212>no spiderman precons>no avatar precons>no ninja turtle preconIf you dont sell the precon, normal fags have to either buy singles (unlikely) or just buy a shitton of boosters (stonks up!)
>>97191927have you considered with the rancid raisin you call a brain, that WotC might sandbag their UW sets and stories an purpose?
>>97192204I figured it was because they felt they could get more money by making everything in the packs instead. No guaranteed cards like you would get in a precon means you're stuck having to go for packs to hopefully get something or buy from people who did go pack gambling.
>>97192225>ninja turtle preconThere is a precon though.
Well, the Devil went down to the LGSHe was lookin' for a soul to stealHe was in a bind 'cause he was way behindAnd he was willing to make a dealWhen he came across this young manShuffling up his deck and playin' it hotAnd the Devil said "Boy, let me tell you what""You probably didn't even know it, but I am a commander player tooAnd if you'd care to take a dare, I'll just make a bet with youNow you're playin' pretty good edh, boy, but give the Devil his dueI'll bet a Gaeas Cradle o' gold against your soul, I think I'm better than you"The boy said, "My name's Johnny and it might be a sinBut I'm gon' take your bet and you're gonna regretI'm the best there's ever been"Johnny, shuffle up your pile and play your combo hard'Cause Hell's broke loose in the LGS and the Devil deals the cardsAnd if you win, you get this shiny Cradle made of goldBut if you lose, the Devil gets your soulThe Devil opened up his case and he said, "I'll start this show"And fire flew from his fingertips as he rifle shuffled his deckAnd then he pulled his 7 cards and it made an evil hissAnd then a band of demons joined in and it sounded something like thisWhen the Devil finished, Johnny said"You know, you're pretty good ol' sonBut you just flop down in that chair right thereI'm gon' show you how this stuff's done"LED in the yard, run boys runThe Devil's in the house of the risin' sunThe breach in play here we goCan I play interaction, with stax no!Well, that ol' Devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beatAnd he laid that golden Cradle down on the ground at Johnny's feetJohnny said, "Devil, come on back if you ever wanna try againI done told you once, you son of a gun, I'm the best there's ever been"
has anyone tried deckbuilding along with e.g. chatGPT? is it actually decent or dogshit?
what the fuck are these bot posts?
>>97192280like I've said many times, if you want to use AI for deckbuilding you need to have a RAG of scryfall and the rules.
>>97192280I tried it once ages ago just to see what it came up with and it was just edhrec staples for the color combo.
>>97192265>>97192225Isnt that shooting yourself on the foot?normalfags wont expend that much just to play some random marvel fag one time
>>97192280you would need to train your own model feeding it all cardgatherer database and ask it the right questions for effects you need
>>97192280What if you try it and then report the results back to us as a little christmas gift?
>>97192150just remember that if you just do counters or stompy with kamahl it'll just be shittier version of the same deck you would do around commander dedicated for it
>>97192319i'm too bad at deckbuilding yet to be able to tell that, which is why im asking
>>97192311I think it's the psychological tactic. People won't think that much about buying a pack or two here and there. And they'll do it a couple times and more whenever they go to stores to play. Over time and as they start wanting more cards than would synergize with the cards they've already pulled they'll want to buy more and won't realize how much they've wasted. While a precon being fifty or more dollars right at the start will feel like a bigger investment and hurdle. Of course you're always better off with singles but a casual player may not realize that.
