Stop buying miniatures.
>>97191690
>>97191690Why?
That's not a bad way to things, not as cool as proper plastic minis but then again plastic minis are just the budget version of diecast miniatures.
>>97191690paint your bases, lazy faget
>>97191690I think you meant "Stop buying miniatures at exorbitant prices."
>>97191690No.
>>97191715We're the grognards now. 4E encouraged miniatures, 5E encourages storygames. It is our responsibility to de-program youngster from their Critical Role brainwashing.By all means, create some prop to represent your character. But if it's an elaborately painted metal miniature, what about when your character dies? If I tear up picrel, no1curr. The first time I smashed a guy's mini, he literally cried.
>>971917516/10 bait, the smashing overdid it.
>>97191724Wood is a nice in-between.Have you guys seen Mazes and Monsters? The Tom Hanks D&D Satanic panic flick. There's a scene where they're painting their minis, but they're like 2.5d figures. What were those?
>>97191751We made better paper soldiers with my younger brother when I was nine. This is just embarrassing.
>>97191732Yeah, so stop buying miniatures.
>>97191756It's all true. We just DIY it, tearing up dead/destroyed PCs and monsters has become a tradition.Although the actual mini thing was before we started this practice. It was only a cheap Reaper one so I don't know why it bothered him. Shit happens in games man, sorry.(He's no longer welcome at our table, thank fuck.)
>>97191690BITCH DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO
>>97191715Because miniatures cost money and you HAVE to spend the least amount of money possible at all times or you're a cuck or something, I'm guessing.
>>97191756He really had me about to reply, because there actually are dumb fucks who act like him on this board, but yeah, the mini smashing took it one step too far.
>you have to play with paper dolls because i will get jealous otherwiseNo, I dont think I will
>>97191690I'm stealing this idea
>>97191751I don't believe you.
>>97191777Smash a mini now, post time stamps.
>>97191690No, I have paper minis, but I also have a friend with a 3D printer that does costume minis for my games, so get bend OP.
>YOU WILL OWN NOTHING ANDNo, get fucked faggot.
>>97191751>The first time I smashed a guy's mini, he literally cried>implying there's several timesdangerously based
?????The miniatures are the best part
>>97191690why is the grid so uneven?
>>97191690those are some sick ass standees anon
>>97191690But only meds have good & affordable enough wine for the number of bases required, anon...
>>97191690I make my dude out of Lego.
Honestly miniatures half of why I like this game nowadays. Collecting them and painting them. I have over 500. it helps make up for my failing imagination. When I was a kid I made paper miniatures in Microsoft Publisher, reversing them and adding tabs so that they could be slotted into bases, and printing them all out on cardstock. i still have a few. They only work at certain perspectives, though, so a real miniature is better. It was quite fun to make them though.
>>97191690Who can actually afford minatures in this economy?
>>97191761Regarding those crazy Tom Hanks cardboard minis:https://www.blogofholding.com/?p=743#more-743
>>97191690My problem are the portage who print their minis with FDM printers and the cope about it. “My minis are just as good as resin printed or cast or injection molded minis. They don’t look like they were made in Minecraft with all their layer lines. You’re just jealous that I was able to print a whole army and only spend like 10 cents a mini.” Good god man, have some pride. If you’re too cheap to buy minis, print some paper standees. This halfway point is just embarrassing.
>>97193056I agree, except I think FDM is fine for giants, terrain, and mounts. Like, printing a full-sized dragon or buildings with resin is so wasteful. 28mm FDM minis look retarded. You can't even drybrush them without them looking like shit.
>>97191690Thanks for reminding me I have to place my order, you're a champ! I'll tell my store they can thank you specifically!
>>97191751>no1currenjoy your ban
>>97191690> I buy miniatures but use paper miniatures because I don't trust others to touch the miniatures
>>97191690Are these double sided?
>>97191761Those are called Flats, originally flats were toys and then used for Historical Wargaming, now you can get them for RPGs and other tabletop stuff
start doing THIS.
>>97192161as long as you can tell where the grid is, does it matter?
>>97191690I will never stop. Fuck you.
fight fight fight
a Chessex battlemat is fine too.
>>97193000damn that's a good article, thank you.>>97193762thanks to you too! i definitely remember seeing these somewhere, packs that always had cool art on the front. Roundheads & Cavaliers, Oriental Warriors, Medieval Knights, sets like that. or am i thinking of something else?
>>97194587never mind, i think i was remembering the old Airfix kits.
i liked the counters that came with the Dungeons & Dragons Adventure Game (sort of a D&D 3E Starter Set).nowdays, you could print a bunch of Roll20 tokens and pop them out with a 1-inch hole punch.
ai thread
>>97191690i have a 3D printer fag, i already have stopped.
>>97191690Buying and taking pictures of store miniatures makes the communists and poor people angry.
>>97191777You going to smash a mini or what?
>>97191690>3d terrain for ttrpgsI'm gonna fucking vomit.
>>97194555Needs a black light with highlighter/fluorescent markers. I like it.
>>97191761How would someone go about making something like this? Or even this? >>97191690I used to make little paper craft figures like this but the paper was so brittl and thin it would bend out of shape.
>>97191710Wow these look like shit
>>97195691>How would someone go about making something like this?programmable CNC laser cutter/engraver for domestic use, they are less popular than 3d printers but similarly available/affordable (starting around $200) and easy to use
>>97195691It looks like laser cut plywood. The brown coloring looks like pyrography, probably done by the same laser cutter.
>>97195691print on photo paper. you can buy different weights, and those Printable Heroes PDFs (for example) are designed to be folded. glue that fucker shut and it's glossy/rigid enough to feel like a proper board game piece.
>>97194587ntayrt They're an old school British wargaming thing. I remember picking up a set just because they were unusual when I was visiting, the store seemed mostly like historical but there could have been more fantastical ones.
>>97195691Photo paper as other anon is suggesting or gluing them to a piece of plastic works. Though I would also suggest to add a coin/small piece of metal to the base. Otherwise they are very light. Too light for my tastes. >>97193366This would work better with black border or with gradient on the border from light (top) to dark (bottom).
