Critical Role and Reddit single-handedly sparked an entire country's interest in RPGs. They had never had any exposure to tabletop before seeing Critical Role.

Can you say the same?

lowest effort bait you have yet made.

I was always interested in playing but it wasn't until after learning the rules in depth from BG3 that I got very proactive in finding a group.

The image is related to the topic of the thread and what he said are facts.

Cute handlebars

As for your claim: a guy trading in furs and fur products sparked an entire country's interest in RPGs back in 1986 up here, after he had exposure to RPG while abroad and wrote to youth magazines about the whole thing

Are we supposed to think those are good things?
>>
I don't understand how people have patience for watching 4-hour longs of this stuff instead of, you know, play it yourself.
>>
Critical Role is also responsible for the theater kids plaguing the hobby and destroying D&D so it is more of a double-edged sword.

>Critical Role and Reddit single-handedly sparked an entire country's interest in RPGs.
Fuck no.
For one thing you can't say two things did something single-handedly, that's fucking reddit tier IQ there.
For another Reddit is from 2005 and critical role is from 2015 but Iraqi people were pirating Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights before just like the rest of the world was. They games the system by learning DND 3 rules which they had to learn English to do so they could read their pirated D&D 3 rule books.
Besides that some Iraqi expats returned to Iraq with their actual physical AD&D 2 and D&D 3 books. And there was a rpg con in Iraq in 2007 for military personnel but there were Iraqi nationals present. And coalition forces were playing since at least 2004 so there's a year for locals to gain an interest and before Reddit and 11 years before critical role, except as noted people already had an interest sparked by vidya.
Finally fucking read the page you linked to
>"For many players in Iraq," writes Maitham, "CR was the first time we ever saw tabletop RPGs"
Not all players, not even most players, just a claim of many. That page's article title is only about how some youtube show sparked a larger community, not the first time rpg were played in Iraq let alone the first time Iraqi people played which they'd be doing for years before critical role came along.

BG3 did more for DnD than critical roll did
Probably because cr isn't even DND but DND adjacent as it is the dm's homebrew turned into a cartoon
>BG3 also has better writing

>"playing"
it's obviously fake and gay
and by this point there is nothing that can be convincing enough to change my mind.
Brennan started the campaign for one of the players with straight out death saves.
No choices, no input, just start with rolling death saves.
I refuse to believe he was about to go with the rolls would the marginal chance of the character dying with NO FUCKING INPUT WHATSOEVER play out, unironically he is too good of a DM to do something this retarded.
Especially considering a PC death that actually happened was scripted to accommodate PC's background.
