I understand that some people believe Killing Harmony isn't actually a separate universe from the previous two games.As explained within the lore, "Danganronpa 3" is actually Danganronpa 53, set many years in the future. This would mean that all the efforts of the New Future Foundation to purge the influence of Ultimate Despair from the world after the end of the Hope Arc OVA were in vain, and that in the end, it was Junko's legacy that prevailed, until Danganronpa 53, where the participants finally managed to break the cycle.
