I think the iron fire detachment is okay. Do you have a detachment you like as well?
>>97202453>Are you working on anything?Robots, going to park these untill i've built the rest
>DG's Unnatural Resilience prime only works on Cataphractii centurions>Making them an anti synergy with Tartaros-only Deathshroud Chief, I'm tired...
>>97202453>Are you working on anything?Normal sicaran which i CANNOT FUCKING RECOMMEND. The top plates are bent fucked and thick which means they're too stiff to bend into place with rubber bands.
>>97202659Will you write fluff about its rebellious machine spirit
>>97202659The corners on opposite sides are bent upwards, and if you do a little digging, you see it on loads of other people's sicarans pretty egregiously.
>>97202659Rubber bands? How... cute.
>>97202692Over time I grew less attached to the weirdly undersized turret and guns given the size of the chassis anyway. Kratos has a similar issue of being only marginally smaller than the Fellblade but the turret and guns like the volkite cardanelle are comically chode-like.
Threadhead anons working on their Sicarans be like. Rip Armoured Spearhead btw.
>>97202746How would you even fluff a marine tank without a master of armour?
>>97202768Decurion
>>97202659>>97202671Crazy how modern tank kits GW has made have huge issues (Rhino bottom plate not fitting, bend top plates for sicarans and kratos) yet the decades old Rhino kit is so easy to assemble most people don't even need the build manual.
>>97202453Glueing saturnine command squad
>>97202829Thays not a hq is it? So you still need dome random centurions
>>97202659I absolutely despise every GW vehicle kit for this reason, a mix of warping or the panels having massive fucking gaps
>>97202837Nice, looks good. Wish I had a 3d printer. Most of my go tos for buying bits don't have much for Saturnine yet.
>>97202768How would we ever! Can't have a tank HQ; this isn't the imperial guard :^)
>>97202895Didn't they squat tank hqs for marines?
>>97202899They could've made him a High Command entry that unlocks only Armoured Fist or Armoured Support detachments. Yeah fucking amazing naming right there huh
Third ird attempt at a Forgelord
>>97202899Don't worry, they'll come back as Sloptica DLC
>>97202832Oh please sweet baby jesus not the Kratos too. I haven't checked mine in my pile of shame.
>>97202403>Update Cataphractii>It's controversial since they alter the look of the armour, and this is the 30k community.>Still don't make it the same size as the new Indomitus kit, making the update even less justified. This fucking company.
>>97202832The one exception to this is the Solar Aux Leman Russ. No gaps, no awkward panels being slightly to big. I don't think I've built a more co-operative vehicle kit.
>>97203035Why would they be the size of Primaris marines?
So turns out that I have an absurd amount of spare old Indomitus bits, including 8 heavy flamers, lots of chainfists, and more than enough bodies. I was wondering if I could proxy them as Salamander Siege Tartaros, and if it's worth it. Seems fluffly, but maybe too weak for the price?
>>97203016I've had zero problems with my kratos and also no warping on my sicaran venator
So are Tortuga bay the best option for getting well proportioned Terminators?
>>97203035Are the catas wearing high heels or is the helmet on the suit just a fancy hat the marine wears?
>>97203016My Kratos was mostly fine besides one medium sized gap between panels on the left which irritates me but I think I’ll live. Besides that it was a great build. Gonna paint it when I finish what I’m currently working on
>>97203035>Why didn't they make firstborn marines in a different game with its own scale the same size as pr*maris marines in a different game with a different scale?!Stop inhaling glue and spray cans anon, it's not healthy for you.
>>97203233>>97203070The new indomitus marines aren't primaris
>>97203267You're in the wrong timeline.
>>97203267..."new"? All marines already transitioned at this point, anon. I don't know if Intercessors can finally take Special Weapons 1 per 5 like the tactical replacements they are. But it might not be long.
>>97202453anyone got the book mega?also these new captchas are dogshit
>>97203267They are. Geedubs handwaived the size and said both firstborn and primaris use the same suits.
>>97203325that's how it should have been in the first place
>>97203370But how was GW suppose to convince people to re-buy their marine armies without constantly making firstborn look small, weak and pathetic in comparison to the new, bigger and better pr*maris marines? :^)
I don't like thinking the Emperor surely would cull marines like He did the Thunder Warriors. The TW fulfilled their objective of planetary conquest, but marines had yet to achieve full galactic domination. Eldar aren't extinct, Orks aren't extinct. Doomsayers sound so overreacting when there was still so much to be done. And even after galactic conquest, it was shown champions would still be require to police the Enemy from Within, as shown in the Night Lords' exemplary battle on Terra itself. And I'm not even touching the eventual conquest of the Webway, or the unforeseen arrival of extragalactic Tyranid threats. Or the awakening of the Necrons.
>TQMaster of signals mini diorama with holograph and antenna
>>97203389Oh I liked that...essay. I think the problem is coexistence. You can have bigger/newer Batman, but only if you retire the previous one first. I think the Rubicon Transitioning of marines achieves that.Or at least, I hope so. Can relic Land Raider hulls transition into Repulsor grav raiders? I better headcanon that, else I cannot reconcile it
>>97203390>the Emperor surely would cull marines like He did the Thunder WarriorsOnly traitors said that as cope. There's zero evidence for it.In fact, the TW were culled because of their unstability and becoming unreliable, not as a something planned from the start.
>>97203389>primarislop is just Marvel Ultimates Warhammer40kOh god, oh no
>>97203408Pretty kino
>>97203408fuck yea
>>97203114No, get yourself the old Cataphractii or Tartaros and add a little bit of green stuff to the torso. Perfect
>>97203408Awesome stuff anon.
>>97203423>the TW were culled because of their unstability and becoming unreliable, not as a something planned from the start.Sorry to disagree, anon. Let's assume the Emperor didn't know the defects and shelf life of TW (big assumption). He could still retire them in honourable ways with either battlefield deaths or actual Veteran's Assistance, despite how out of setting that sounds lmao. Fight until death or until you can fight no more. But don't have them win a hard fight then fucking stab them in the back. I mean that was really a dick move, you know? The US has 16 million veterans. Even at the full height of the crusade there weren't 2 million marines, and you're telling me the Emperor couldn't provide social security for a couple thousand senile Thunder Warriors?Bro. Come on. I know it's OG fluff I can't mess with, but I really think it's a mistake.
>>97203460I think "unstable" here means something worse than just forgetting they car keys all the time, you know.IIRC one of the novels makes a point of how Valdor was spooked after some nasty event, and petitioned the Emperor for a purge
>>97203423>In fact, the TW were culled because of their unstability and becoming unreliable, not as a something planned from the start.the thousand sons would never have been culled if not for magnus's retarded movei'm pretty sure if emps had the choice he would switch space woofs for thousand sons any day of the week
>>97203460The thunder warriors were a rushed patchwork job, made with very limited resources, created purely to subdue the techno-barbarian hordes on Terra. Of course the Emperor knew from the start they wouldn't last. And the end, the majority were howling mad, psychotic, with their bodies almost falling apart from organ failure and cancerous tumours. At that point it wasn't an execution, it was mercy killing. Of course there's always exceptions, and there undoubtedly were a small minority of thunder warriors who still remained somewhat sane and stable. But in The Honoured Dead we see that even they would continue to deteriorate.
>>97203389Do what they did with CSM. "See your old models? Well, we made new models, with better sculpts and new weapons. There are some new units also, and we know you want to have an army that looks uniform!"People would still buy it, regardless of what they release.>>97203415They apparently still use land raiders.Wish they leaned into different chapters liking different configurations. Like one chapter is using primaris armour for their tactical and devastator squads, another is using intercessors and the new shit but sticks to rhinos and preds because they are fleet based and the Master of the Forge hates repairing and maintaining grav vehicles. Too bad the suits and rules writers lack the creativity to push that narrative.
>>97203491The Emperor was already working on a more stable psyker legion replacement. This is why he offered Magnus a new legion – he had already been working on the Grey Knights, and they were close enough to completion to offer to Magnus. Unlike Primaris, we don't know if TS could transition into GK. Even with actual Primaris we didn't know Firstborn could Rubicon into them until like a year in; it's why Gabriel Seth feared replacement by "UM in red colors".
>>97203478>>97203514>And the end, the majority were howling mad, psychotic, with their bodies almost falling apart from organ failure and cancerous tumours. At that point it wasn't an execution, it was mercy killing. This I accept, I never contest this. But I do insist mercy killing could be in a Medicae's bed instead of "turn around while I Guardian Spear you in the back"?Grim. Maybe even dark! Lmao
>>97203542Those medicae were too busy creating the first of the space marine legionaries :^)
>>97203542And don't forget making the new batch if the first iteration come along so they can see what exactly happened to their predecessors when they'd outlived their usefulness!
>>97203524it's especially egregiously retarded when the "retired" marine vehicles are still used in the millions by Sisters, Grey Knights (the more elite marines), Imperial Agents, Custodes and Deathwatch. If they want to be like but primaris are very slightly larger, they can take up 2 slots in a rhino, problem solved. It was blaring obviously nothing to do with the lore in any way and merely "rebuy all your transports our CEO needs a 17th lamborghini"
>>97203524Last thing I read was the RG expansion (8th edition). Their 9th company (Fire Support) was "the Dirge Singers", related to the funerary traditions of Kiavar; theirs was a song of death. It was the usual Devastator Company, but with Storm bird transports so they could redeploy to support the usual mobile style of the Raven Guard. They'd even airlift Dreadnoughts to secure beachheads.Their captain was one of the last Firstborn in the chapter. I liked that fluff.I like to think he chose to not cross the Rubicon, as his friend Kyrin Solaq (5th Captain & Master of the Marches) died crossing it ;__; as there are no mentions of pic related now, despite being a confirmed survivor of the Prefectia Campaign. But that's headcanon
>>97203617>Kyrin SolaqI got his mini for the specific purpose of making him a Deathwatch captain. I like to think he joined the DW out of shame for losing against the Tau and wanting revenge
>>97203415No, land raiders cannot make the transition. The point of primaris was to tell you that firstborn marines were pathetic losers and to be cool you had to buy primaris. It must have pissed off Cruddace and Lkrby to no end when sweaty tournament players realized primaris were bad and didn't run them for a long time lol
I will now engage in the Night Lords tradition of autistically staring at this thread.
>>97203637Oh bro oof that'd be a relief. I really liked that guy and was saddened when he didn't figure in the chapter's registry anymore>Hail, raven. Where's my friend Solaq? I haven't seen him since Prefectia>Master Solaq is...no longer with us>No! Perfidious xenos! The Tau shall pay back his blood a thousand fold!>Apologies, Khan. I meant to say he's with the Deathwatch now.
Master of descent wip.
>>97203542The Thunder Warriors were not doing that bad, and could have been kept alive and healthy for a lot longer if the emperor gave a shit. The emperor very clearly got off on backstabbing loyal servants; he's not a good dude.
>>97203685Hey cool hwork in progress
>>97200140>I guess that's the reason for bringing allies: bringing different Legion-specific detachments in the same army.>Legion-specific Detachments are only available to a Primary Detachment Well, never mind then!
So where does Dropsite Massacre fit into the reading order?
>>97203114It's that or 3d prints.
>>97203750I'd say right after Fulgrim. And I'd read later Scorched Earth, Raven's Flight, and the other early Shattered Legions stories as a continuation.

>>97203778Cheers anon, just finished Fulgrim too, started Legion so may as well finish that but heard good things about DSM so looking forward to it.
>>97203390There never was any plan to make non-humans run the imperium post crusade. Leave the marines alive and you would have gotten another HH anyways because those were the ones that bled for it.
>>97203956>Reaching the same result through a different wayHeadcanon's comfy
>Horus has 10 BAJILLION marines + Army + Mech + Titans>still takes 3+ months to wipeout Istvaan 3 survivorsHoly KWAB
>>97204033Still rather quick when you consider they were playing hide and seek on an entire fucking planet.
What is the current state of LIMP?Is it worth getting into? Has the jank been fixed? Are titans besides the warmaster usable now?
>>97203739you just need to flip your armies. You don't ally in dark angels or salamanders to get superior detachments, you pretend they're your primary faction then ally in your real army. Then you can still use the salamanders aux where every single one can be 2 support slots, 2 optional predator/vindicators + 1 prime logistical benefit for a 3rd support slot (or just anything like a dreadnought or elite slot while keeping the 2 supports)Or pretend to main "dark angels" to get the 4 squads of rapier batteries in a single aux slot, firewing seeker+seeker+support, deathwing prime retinue deathstar+elite+terminator. You can even use a high command like Sigismund in your "allied" force, he just eats the prime slot for special assignment. The downside is if you were planning to make say blood angels melee, with an apex of retinue deathstar with prime buff sergeant, then you can't do apexes in allied force. It's just a tradeoff. A traditional army gets some extra prime options and apex and character options, and if you want ImpFist buff on your rapier heavy bolters that doesn't work if you sneak them in via salamanders/dark angels, for example. Allies give much higher flexibility though.
>>97204053not quick at all when it takes 30 minutes to crack a planet. Zero reason not to simply nostramo istvaan III while they're in bunkers underground.(some retarded fucking child is gonna make some speech about "symbolism", but "symbolism" is worth literally nothing when your imperium is literally destroyed and chaos wins 3 months early.)
>>97204063No major changes
>>97202658A natural resilience is also available to regular centurions. But yeah, no Tartaros allowed
>>97204033The chad Tarvitz vs the basedjak Horus
>A mortificator can Shock a vehicle with all three status effects at once with his staff.Huh. That's pretty funny actually.
>>97204166it's okay any decent mechanic can pull out his wrench and remove 3-4 statuses in a single movement phase AND have the tank drive off and start shooting on same turn unaffected.
>>97204065>You can even use a high command like Sigismund in your "allied" force, he just eats the prime slot for special assignmentTrue, though a high command brought in a regular HQ by using a prime unlocks no detachment whatsoever, right? As in not even an Aux Detach. It'd be just Sigismund and a bunch of Inductii without rhinos...unless you bring yet another Centurion.Fuck subcommanders. They're lucky I'm even considering a 2nd guy.
>>97204181I think you'd need a full Warsmith (Battlesmith 2 + servo arm) to fix it. Else you'd need the Tech marine and roll a 6 for the vehicle's self repair (5+ for LRs)
>>97204181>mortifactor in melee range >somehow the tech marine hasn't been blasted the pieces or at least locked in melee where he can't repair
>>97204204He's just that good
>>97202837And also finishing gluing a heavy weapons squad, can’t wait to start painting
>>97204184yeah, it can definitely help to take an Officer of the Line(2) in your 2nd slot to get access to 2 of any auxiliary slots you want (non-apex unfortunately)Though the dumb part is really you're not actually limited, because you could pretend to have a Dark angels army, then ally 4 armies of space wolves in, take as many slots as you want (just non-apex)"If more than one Allied detachment is in the same army, then all Allied detachments in the army must be of different Faction than the Primary detachment, but may be the same as other Allied detachments"So you could bring 1500 points of spacewolves in 4 allied detachments and like 8-10 dreadnoughts by abusing that.
>>97204204getting in melee range of a 10" long tank is not the same as being in melee with the repair guy 17" away blocked by the fellblade, idiot.
I wanted to try applying tamiya smoke to this guy to blacked the red for my 'shields, but it didn't come out as dark as I was hoping amd I dom't feel like doing 6 coats so I'm just gonna finish the deets and base it.
>>97204196all the good battlesmith options come with servo arm (repair 3 things) or machinator array (can do 2 actions per turn, so repair 4 status or repair 2 status + heal 2 hull)
>>97204063Anything in particular you're worried about? There were big balance changes for the better in Liber strategia (mainly missile squads being too good, kratos and knights being bad). In terms of fun, I rate it lower than AT (peak), higher than 40k. Maybe even a touch higher than 30k (strategy involving buildings, and vehicles being allergic to infantry in urban environments is fucking kino). Picrel got a ebay snipe with 3 seconds left yesterday.
>>97202658that's not anti-synergy, deathshroud are nameless bodyguards. And it's quite reasonable for the Super-Chonk-Tanker to have to be Heavy if he wants terminator armor. He's already T5 5W 2+/4++ and EW2 and has a gambit to become up to Toughness 7-8 against stuff like Kharn/Primarchs. He's a shuffling horror, not a fucking wulfen speedster. Nurgle are spoiled with one of the best gimmick buffs in the game.Other armies get one that's just a shitty clone of +1WS +1A like dark angels / space wolves that's literally irrelevant (as there's already a prime for +1 WS +1BS +1A)
>>97204184>An allied Warsmith brings just 4 Tacticals by himselfAhahahaha
>>97204387the only actual limitation is the 50% points and lack of prime benefits. Because that Warsmith can join centurion, and add 2 more allies with four centurions, now you have NINE more slots of auxiliaries available in your allies.
anyone used Brass Scorpion / Khytan Engine in 3rd yet?
>>97204234Oh true true. With enough Centurions you can do anything... but bringing multiple characters is something I'm trying to avoid. I'm just not used to that. How many Officers do you bring at 3k?
>>97204383deathshroud are Mortarion's bodyguards too, not just some pass-around party favors>>97204184if you want a fluffy army with Siggy then you bring Championsbut if he's Allied then you bring whatever soup you want because there's no limit on the number or Faction of Allied Detachments as long as you don't go over 50% of your points, so you take him in one with your PA and then you bring as many Command as you want in "other detachments" wink wink and every one of those Champions either takes Paragon of Battle or Logistical Benefit and grandfathers in those Templar Brethren you wantedwho needs Inductii when you've got superunits of Castellans teleported in by their Warmonger friend and given Line (1) or Vanguard (1) as appropriate by their Master of Signal friendthey're just good friendsmeanwhile your I don't know fuckin Ultramarines or whatever are capping the actual points with Tacticals or some shit
>>97204383>He's a shuffling horror, not a fucking wulfen speedster. That's very true, hence my mild frown that the bodyguard for this mighty glacier, who they themselves are also EW1, are clad in what counts as light among terminators?Double down on the heavy, it's the DG style. These ain't Ebon Keshig lol
>>97204315Servo arm only increases the amount of HP/wounds restored, not the number of status effects removed.
>>97204599Due to gutting vehicle and dreadnought squadrons etc, just to even vaguely fit what my previous 3k army was, I need every command to be a centurion, AND take a logistical benefit. The fact that 1 predator = 1 kratos in terms of slots, or 1 contemptor = 1 saturnine unless you take a mortifactor, is aids. The system skullfucks you if you want MSU variety of like 1 dread, 1 land speeder, some jetbikes, one predator, one sicaran, one kratos, one of each vindi flavor etc.
>>97204642Was there ANY legitimate reason to move away from the old force org
>>97204642>Complains about MSU not being possible>The units he lists fit in two, maybe three detachmentsThis unironically sounds like a skill issue lmao.
>>97204685So they don't have to come up with RoWs that make certain formations possible, you can just do it with the new force org. Only reason I can see is that.
>>97204685No. It was to make the game different enugh to justify the nee edition like it usually is. That and make people buy more HQs now that most of them have models and their wargear is retricted so WYSIWYG autists will buy more too
>>97203660
>>97203099Anybody?
>3.0
>>97204863Oh boy oh boy we have strategems now.
>>97204623deathshroud exist to bodyguard a primarch, not a terminator chode. Bodyguarding mortarion requires being able to at least vaguely stay within 49 feet of him at all times without slowing morty to a crawl, so obviously deathshroud in cata is stupid. Cata is just inferior to Tartaros terminator armor, if legions had infinite money they'd all be 90% tartaros armor, but there's a finite supply so only the best squads get it.Cataphract bodyguards like Angron's Devourers and Perturabo's Dominators were so slow and shitty and useless that their primarchs threw them away and they aren't even allowed to come with the primarch anymore, so they just go on kamikaze missions on their own where they won't slow down the primarchs.
>>97204641oh yeah. I only use Machinator array repairers already since 2x2 is better than 2+1 already. Legacy gives marines Forge Lord, Forge Lord jump pack, Forge Lord terminator armor, even without legion specific ones like Ferrus. And there's no penalty for bringing mechanicum magos with Battlesmith 3+3 machinator for 120 pts since troops aren't even mandatory (though you can bring up to 4 30 point techpriests to accompany all your other vehicles and dreadnoughts if you like)
>>97202932Mine from long ago along with rest of command esque squad
>>97205117Got any more pics of your guys?
>>97204492I've used the brass scorpion, it was pretty monstrous especially when I could triple buff it to be WS5, T9, I5. Probably the main reason I won that game desu considering the rest of the list was myrmidons and a few thallax.
>>97205242Unfortunately this is as far as I got army wise, was going to be a cataphractii blood angel dark angel and ultramarine strike force, hers a pre paint wip of these guys though... The forge father was reworked as it looked too busy

Meh warhounds and dire wolves still crap
Is the Caestus Assault Ram any good? Thinking of getting one from chang to move aorund palatine blades. I'd use a land raider but I wanna be fancy. Debated a Dreadclaw but it doesn't appeal to me and the drop pod only allows 10 models when I want a Champion to go with them
>>97204601>deathshroud are Mortarion's bodyguards too, not just some pass-around party favorsI like their post heresy fluff where they are Mortarion's eyes as well, symbols of his favor...but also his judgement.I know that's not necessarily also the case in 30k, but it is nice and I like it when a bodyguard answers not to their charge, but to that guy's superior>>97204946>Bodyguarding mortarion requires being able to at least vaguely stay within 49 feet of him at all times without slowing morty to a crawl, so obviously deathshroud in cata is stupidI remember when bringing his Deathshroud as a retinue meant he couldn't teleport around because he couldn't abandon them. Booo.i>Cata is just inferior to Tartaros terminator armor, if legions had infinite money they'd all be 90% tartaros armorNah. Cataphractii has a specific niche. If anything, it'd be nice if the pattern of terminator armour was an option for legion specific termies, now that they've been balanced to be equal to one another, as they cost the same.
>>97204946I don't care about what some hack BL writer wrote or what some creatively bankrupt designer at FW pullet out of their ass.
>>97205369seems they did a decent job overall balancing different transports this edition (after you give the aircraft the errata movement)The basic dreadclaw is for small cheap drops behind enemy lines of things with no charge bonuses. The kharibdys is for drops of large deathstar units with no charge bonuses behind enemy lines.Storm Eagle pays a fee to upgrade to giving charge bonuses and it's faster and somewhat tanky.Caestus pays a bit extra and it's fast with AV13/13/13 7HP unlike the Storm Eagle's 12/12/12 6HP which is an enormous HP breakpoint (a lucky melta snapshot getting 6 on a storm eagle or dreadclaw one-shots it but caestus gets its drop off and teleports away). It comes with a dmg8 melta cannon out to 12", so post-drop if it shrugged off snapshots it comes in later turns and one-shots some tanks or transports at minimum. What transport you choose is primarily legion based. Emperor's Children, World Eaters, Blood Angels and certain gear like White Scar glaives all don't work without charge bonus, so since you're an EC player the Storm eagle or Caestus suits you.For someone running a non-charge bonus Salamanders hammer death-star, they get no charge bonuses in 3rd edition so they'd rather run Kharibdyss with 22 transport instead of 16 (so like Vulkan + 8 Firedrake terminators)
>>97205672Outside of WE, EC and a few niche Impact stuff, all the charge bonus is like 3" setup move, right? 5" for SW>after you give the aircraft the errata movementHuh, what changed now?
To the kind anon who uploaded the 2.0 pdfs for me in the last thread, I missed the window before the pastebin expired. Would you be able to reupload?
>>97204033The lore in the new LI book also explains away the outnumbered and ambushed Salamanders putting the Dies Irae to flight. It's just loyalist wank after loyalist wank in the lore.
