It's such an obvious idea. Where are they?
It seems like a natural fit, especially since Space Marines and Tau are both against intolerance and religion. You'd think the Ultramarines would side with the Tau rather than keep protecting the corrupt Imperium.
>>97211911I'm constantly torn between a lot of ideas of what to do with all these primaris marines that keep appearing in my home, somehow. I've got like, a trillion firstborn wolves so I don't want to do more of that. I've thought of secret Thousand Sons geneseed, but Gue'vesa chapter is also a great idea.Would you run them as Tau, with like, some converted Centurions as battlesuits, scouts as maybe a breacher team, and mixed-in regular Tau units?Or would you do them as a themed chapter? Just Space Marine rules with Tau asthetics?
>>97211928>Space Marines>against intoleranceMarines are brainwashed to hate xenos quite heavily. The only scenario where this sort of thing works is where you've got some renegade Space Marines who avoid falling to chaos, but are otherwise stuck in that region of space and are thus unable to resupply or repair anywhere else. That still only remains at the level of 'unofficial truce', rather than any true partnership, let alone actual subservience.
>>97211911Goes against their ethos and Eldar handlers wont allow it. The Space Marine battle program is perfected for the T'au in the form of the "Hero's Mantle" Battlesuit. Space Marines are a massive investment while you can take a twelve year old T'au, plug a nuerochip in his socket while he's in stasis, and shove the blueberry meat plug into piece of hardware that gives comparable combat efficiency as a Space Marine. Astartes are hyper over engineered as divine propaganda tools while XV8s are budgeted combat assets.
>>97211928Space Marines factory default is killing aliens. The Tau empire is seated right in ultramar, and now that Robotnik Gorillionaire has commissioned captain titties to reclaim his old stomping grounds (even though he told felix to do the exact same thing years ago) the tau are rocketing towards a serious confrontation. So like the Damocles Gulf Crusade but it'll resolved in a single crusade book, and will be significantly worse.

>>97212012>>97212010>>97211928>>97211911Whenever 40k gets End Times'd they're going to make the Imperium and Eldar team up. We're likely to see Eldar revealed as the Tau handlers at some point in the next decade, especially with the new Ynnari "Death Cult"/Greater Good God "Ying Yang" dynamic that's about to happen. When this happens expect Eldar/Imperium/T'au Soup. Also, as an aside, T'au made inferior Space Marine bots and it was a big waste of time.
>>97211911What's the goddamn point?
>>97211979Warhammer is a heroic setting where the named protagonist always beats the "on paper just as good" units. They just haven't noticed this yet. This is war farsight is so important. Consciously or not, he figured out that being a big important named guy with a slight sense of mystery and vague relevance to the future lets you win all your fights.Anyway GW will never go for it because they don't want to mix armies. No allies, no marines leading guard, no traitor guard unless it's a boxed traitor guardTM squad. Don't even put looted leman russ tanks into your orks. They don't want it.
>>97212028The T'au probably best encompass "herohammer" with the basic myth of their warrior caste being the triumvirate of Puretide's disciples O'Shovah, Shaserra, O'Kais to the point even the Chaos Gods acknowledge the trifold path theyve taken is bound to come to some specieswide conflict.Eldar x Tau was the tastiest soup for a ridiculous edition. With Space Marine x Imperial guard slop being served up in the new Total War entry you best believe 11th or 12th at the latest will see a return of the allies matrix. (Ex special lee when they push for bashing two box sets together for a combat patrol + group introductory setting.)
>>97212080Nope. Never gonna happen. They enforce no crossovers for marketing and analytics purposes. They only want you to buy eldar for your eldar army and tau for your tau army. This is why they killed the eldar soup push. They're either successfully merged into one faction, or they're going back to two factions. Didn't take so they killed it.They even made slightly different versions of existing imperial guard tanks for 30k just so they could be listed separate. They have a personal crusade for this. You want it, they don't.
>>97212106I just think the one two punch of SM2 and TW40k is going to see some rules restriction lifted to better accommodate new player groups mashing together armies. We will see how things go with their 500 Worlds Battalions and what kind of interactivity the sets have with one another or if it's just going to be a Boarding Party 2.0 scenario.
>>97211911>Where are they?Check your general, then fucking stay in there.
