To be fair I think it is better to slowly die while still getting a few rules out for new miniatures than have a new edition changing most things people like about the game while making the game easier for board-gamers

they really do just need age of sigmar killteam.

warcry was too.....bespoke. too different from actual warhammer. like, i try to introduce a warhammer player to kill team and they're like okay, thats wounds, save, move, attacks, hit, damage, i know how that works

you show them a warcry card and it explains nothing. you can maybe infer what some of the symbols are, but nothing is spelled out for you on the card, and i found that to just be a really big hurdle for trying to get new players in. that and the warcry teams were just too limited, kill teams a lot more flexible as far as what guys to take

once we're done with the current realms or spearhead season or whatever its called, and we move on to 5th edition, gw releases a black book style supplement for spearhead that expands on the realms as a whole to clarify whats what to an extent, at least for some continents of the realms. While also expanding on spearhead to be this escalation type game, but do not make it mandatory for the spearhead game itself, it should be something separate altogether. Also as they're going past the realms leave the realm of azyr for last.

So underworlds is a deck building game, that also has minis that you run around a hex tile board It's usually 3-7 models in a warband, whereas warcry tends to be 10.

Warhammer Underworlds is a board-miniature-cardgame mix.
Each player has one warband (between 3 and 7 miniatures generally) and 2 decks: One for objectives and one for upgrades+strategy cards.
The game is played in a hex board (similar to the new Warhammer Quest)

Win the game the player that earns more glory after 3 rounds (each with 4 activation-turns for each player)
Glory in won by either completing objectives (botton of the objective cards shows how much you gain from doing it)(gold cards) or killing opposing fighters (1 for each fighter, 1 extra if the fighter had 5 or more hp)(2nd edition is a bit different)
Glory comes unspent (gold coin) and you can spend it (turn it face down) to play upgrades to your fighters (they still count for determining the winner of the game)

Each fighter card has its characteristics written/displayed (how much hexes it moves, how much defense dice it rolls and what is a "hit" for them, hp, attacks, and abilities)(2nd ed each warband has an warscroll) so you don't have to reference things in external materials.

During an activation you choose a fighter and then chose between move, charge(move+attack), attack or wait(do nothing) (if you move you put a move token meaning that you can't give another move action to the fighter for the rest of the round)(for charge you put a charge token that makes the fighter unable to make move or attack actions for the rest of the round). After the activation you can play a card (either a ploy that happens immediately (most of times) or pay for an upgrade)

It is a cool game, shame that the new edition got hid of the warbands exclusive decks and the magic dice (some plots and attacks or abilities you had to make a magic save)(=roll the same symbol in the magic dice)

No. AoS needs a Necromunda/Mordheim analog. Fuck Killteam and zero customization. I want YOUR DUDES. I want progression more akin to an RPG. I want modular kits with a crazy amount of bits. Killteam is basically a boxed miniature game. It's fine, but honestly super boring after one game.
