How often do you do it
>>97216730>TQIf you have something outside the game come up fine. But otherwise I prefer to play it out properly. Often enough I've seen what looked like a clear win actually not work out once it came to fully resolving everything and giving people chances to respond in process and so on.More often then not I've stayed in in situations ive seen other people scoop and between lucky draws, or my opponents mistakes turned what looked like an inevitable loss into my win.If you want to scoop fine, but IMO you're surrenders early when things aren't actually certain.
>>97216730TQ: I don't like telling people how to play, but I believe that unless there's a serious out of game reason to leave the table, scooping should be done at sorcery speed. If you have some place to be or an emergency occurs the game isn't that important, but people duck out of game to deny people triggers or combat damage, or strategically concede to rip away stolen creatures or things like that, that's bitch made behavior. It can drastically alter the game-state in unpredictable ways that really isn't fair to the remaining players. However, if you can take a game action that loses you the game I'm hard pressed to say 'you can't do that'; you just don't get the magical option to choose when to quit to try and affect the gamestate. For example, say someone targeted you with Zeno and another player is looking to take the win. It's not really reasonable or fair to be able to say on their turn "well I'm conceding, so so-and-so wins immediately". It would be still kinda bitchy to do it on your turn, but at least then there's an extant clock on it.
>>97216730>TGAlways hated the term scooping sounds too stupid, but then again EDH is the stupid format.I personally used to never scoop cause I liked playing out shit when I'm winning. But nowadays it seems like everyone I play with immediately scoops after I blow up their problematic commander more than once. So honestly if the people are whiny or very obviously trying to be Mr pubstomb with 20 proxied reserved list cards I'll just pack up my deck and go to a different table.
>>97216815I've never had anyone "tactically" scoop before. I think my lgs would horse laugh him and play it out regardless.>>97216822Only 2 commander removals? I've had games where there was 6+ board wipes in 3 turns.
Would honestly prefer a EDH game that lasts 2 hours, where everyone had a chance to win. Than 6 different EDH games that lasted 20 minutes each, because everyone was bitchy, and threw games out of spite. Then let the obvious threat just win on turn 6.
>>97216832I for one support removal in EDH, and think it's ignored heavily in a lot of Timmy's deck building. But for some reason I'm the asshole at my LGS because I don't want sephiroth to go infinite with forsaken miner on turn 4. Or counter the mono red players City on Fire. Play Red elemental blast retard?? Pyroblast? I hate EDHs mentality of don't interact with me and let me win because this will be so cooool guys. And it's just sanguine bond and bloodthirsty conquer -_-
>>97216832I've only really heard stories of it happening. I just think it's best to nip it in the bud.
