>Setting Basically late medieval to early Renaissance Europe >Magic Not really available to players, expect in the form of extremely rare high level magical weapons and items. BBEG should possess magic abilities >Player characters European presenting male fighters only, maximum one low level hedge wizard or shaman>Races All NPCs and PC should be human, finding a non-human village like elves should be extremely rare, unlikely, and magical experience
>>97222512The perfect fantasy setting? Persona 2 of course!
>>97222512Ask the worldbuilding general.
>>97222521Holy shit I love Persona 2! I think high fantasy is best expressed in a high school setting.
>>97222525Eternal Punishment doesn't even take place in a high school you silly goose
>>97222523Reddit is down the hall my nigger
>>97222539Jannylarp.
>>97222544Trying to regulate people to a general is jannylarp, agreed. Very odd behavior
>>97222546Just let people post what they want. What is your problem man?
>>97222549Tolerance and apathy are the last virtues of a dying society, faggot
>>97222583Yes. My point exactly. Stay in your fucking nogames general.
>>97222539>twitter addict larping about knowing board cultureIs this thread getting screencapped on your twitter feed too?
>>97222512What's the point of making it fantasy? Just make it historical at that point.>Setting is Hundred Years War France>A third of the country is ruled by the uncles of a foreign child monarch>Another third is ruled by the young rightful king ruling over >Another third is ruled by the cousin of the rightful king allied only tenulously with the foreign monarch after his father was murdered in an altercation with the rightful>Mercenaries and unemployed soldiers pillage the countryside
>>97222593The obsession with generals and the autistic jannyesque insistance that all talk must be kept in generals is why /tg/ is such a cesspit. There's no inter-topic relation, if you don't like DnD you just never go to the 5e or pathfinder threads and all you see is niche topics you like and the most inane questions which are so vague that nobody actually gives a shit.>What is the best system for playing a paraplegic fantasy adventurer?>Who was in the right? (Alpha Centauri Vidya)>Shard Bugs
>>97222614People wouldn't tell you to stay in your general if you guys didn't make your cringe "fantasy should be low fantasy renaissance Europe with no magic and white male fighters only xD" threads over and over. Maybe if you made threads where you shared what happened in games you ran with your setting people would be more open.
>>97222512How perfect or imperfect a setting is isn't going to matter as much if the game it's being used for is utter crap.Too many times I've seen a really cool setting with a lot of concepts I think are cool, to then either be just completely disengaged during a session because instead of playing a game, the head of the table decides he either wants to get everyone to beta read his novel or he wants to share a script from some other podcast he thought was great. As a quick example, I think zombie apocalypses are overdone and boring, but if there's a zombie apocalypse game that has character, gear, and combat options to use against various types of zombies, raiders, and mutants, it's highly likely that I'll have a blast with it anyway. On the other side, I think cyberspace as a concept still has a lot of potential in media, but if there was a cyberspace-themed narrative system presenting as a game, with "daddy decides" dice pool resolutions and where everyone sits for hours listening to storytime and making voices at each other, I'm going to want to blow my fucking brains out with how boring that would be.Gameplay matters more than setting ever will.
>>97222628Unironically, why don't you just go back to réddit if you didn't like what we talk about here?
>>97222523the worldbuilding general was vandalized by a moron deleting all the links. probably you and your cabal of discord "what system" shitheads.
>>97222512I don't know about perfect, but Euchronia is kinda cool.I like high fantasy worlds where technology and magic are integrated. Things like planes or trains that are operated using magic.I like when there is a lot of races so there's plenty of options for PCs that I can get creative with.Maybe why I also really like Eberron.
>>97222544>>97222546he's right though/tg/ has gone to shit because everyone just walls themselves off in their circlejerk generals
>>97222512this is the fifth "low magic human male fighter" thread you've made this week. we dont need one a day, and people are ignoring it because your lazy social engineering attempts are retarded. give it a rest
>>97222628Show me a single good thread outside of generals right now. Maybe if a thread is bad or doesn't interest you than you should let it die instead of engaging with it or trying to make people think that every topic belongs in a general. You haven't gotten rid of shit threads with your general crusade, you just made it so 90% of the people who start threads are purely shiyposting with no interest in the actual responses.
>>97222521Why she got hearts on her titties?
>>97222512>the perfect game setting is one where the players have no power or options and are unlikely to ever find anything interesting
>>97222512that's all lameplay historical instead
>>97222523Nah, faggot.
>>97222512The perfect fantasy RPG setting is pic related. You're a newfag from twitter.
>>97222741Oh look, yet another crescent shaped island with nonsensical geography and biome distribution ...
>>97222941You must have no imagination and a low IQ if you need mary sue magic powers as your only option
>>97223072Oh no, how can a game possibly function if the geography isn't realistic?
>>97223078You must be a faglord.
>>97222512Close but no cigar. >basically renaissance to wars of religion and early colonialism mashed together as needed to maximize cool stuff in game >Magic available at cost with clear mechanical risk & reward combined with social mechanics over time>Classless, everyone can learn spells if they have the stats, everyone can fight if they have the stats. Backgrounds are important context for skills but remain inspiration rather than dictation. >Races starting as predominantly human, adding in other races as they are encountered and become allies in a living world that engage with player decisions and blends in the odd in gradual ways to create both a sense of grounded world familiarity and wonder as exploration proceeds
>>97223088The world map is one of the most visible and evocative parts of your entire setting. If it is derivative, uninspired, and lazy, there's a good chance that everything else in your setting is as well.
>>97222934Because let's positive thinking
>>97223146>he shows players the world map ngmi
>>97222583Oh yeah fucking elf game board is gonna cause the fall of society. Thank christ you shit stains dont go outside.

>>97222583>noooooo stop having badwrongfunYou don't play games.
>>97223122I like this stuff. Been trying to cook something (crunch-wise), but in fantasy postapo setting that is vaguely Age of Decadence-inspired (if less grimdark and stupid).
>>97222512>Basically late medieval I ALREADY DONT FUCKING CARE
