We've reached the point where GMs are now producing AI slop responses both in and out of character.
>>
If I wanted to read reddit posts, I'd be on reddit.
>>
>>97223329
How did this affect your last game? Be detailed and specific
>>
>>97223412
It made me worried that MY dm was using AI slop in the game. It made me worried that my fellow players are AI generating their backstories. If it doesn't worry you at least a little, then you haven't been paying attention.
>>
>>97223329
>I copy and pasted my GM's response
Have you tried not playing faggoty text-based online "games"?
>>
>>97223532
Text based is better. Means you can go back and reread
>>
>>97223548
>he doesn’t take notes
Player notes are probably one of the most important parts of a successful, long-running campaign. Not only do they provide reference material for the players, they also signal to the GM what details the players consider most significant and what they’re overlooking.
>>
>>97223419
NTA but I know both my GM and my fellow players, and I have no worries whatsoever about them using AI to generate responses, backstories or such. We've used AI to generate art for games on occasion, though, and I think that's one of the few things AI art is currently actually oretty good for.
>>
>>97223329
go back

>if you don't have anxiety issues around random bullshit then YOU are at fault
>>
>>97223329
This standard of writing is an order of magnitude more competent and readable than the majority of people could ever put out. I'm glad that AI-generated text is going to become the bare minimum standard, and that one day in the not-too-distant future, I'll never have to read shoddy writing again.
>>
>>97223329
Not my GMs.
>>
>>97223333
Some of as are banned there.
>>
>>97223747
>gets banned from reddit
>still reads the posts there and posts them on 4chan to discuss
Absolutely pathetic behavior.
>>
>>97223532
Then how will I post snippets of it to my Discord peanut gallery?
>>
>>97223548
>I am too insufferable to even game over voice, let alone in person.

Sad, but many such cases
>>
>>97223532
But then how will I prove things to anonymous strangers on 4chan? I actually have been demanded to post my "game logs" by multiple anons here in multiple different discussions when I've said something about my games, and every times anons in question have acted as if saying that I play in person with people I know IRL is somehow peak nogames behavior.
>>
>>97223586
I'm admittedly surprised that people like AI art for that purpose, but only because I usually hate whatever the ai outputs. And not cause I want to poo-poo ai art, but because wrangling the damn things feels impossible. Almost every picture they ever make has something that feels off or a detail that feels wrong that makes me never want to use it.
>>
>>97223329
It sucks, but there's really no stopping the influx of AI.
You can tell them it's lazy and soulless, but they won't care. You can warn them that relying on it too much will retard their creativity and sense of phantasia, but they won't care. You can inform them of its inefficient and unsustainable power consumption and how electric utility costs surrounding AI servers are being driven up, but they won't care.
It's the big scientific thing, Anon, and they want to be on the bandwagon. They wouldn't care if a black hole opened up under their own house, because any scientific progress is unquestionably good.

Also, Planescape, a game? Being real generous there.

They aren't doing it in person clearly and if I enjoy their backstory and kore what do I care how they came up with it or wrote it up?

>It made me worried that my fellow players are AI generating their backstories.
I wouldn't care, I'm not treating them like peak fictions. Whose your mentor? Whose your friends? Whose your family? What's your goal? If you write me a short story I'll skim to pick out those bits and forget the rest.

>>97223885
I'm not great at wrangling AI, either, but I ahve a couple of friends who seem to pretty consistently get useable art out of it. I feel like it works better for location art than character art, though. The reason I find it useful for RPGs, in particular, is that a campaign is not an art gallery and oftentimes, in my opinion and experience at least, finding something meeting fairly specific criteria is more important than finding the absolute best or even the absolute most "soulful" art available. AI art's not great but it can meet pretty specific demands, at least in the hands of those friends I mentioned who are better at using art AIs than I am.
>>
>>97223906
I can understand people getting it to do their homework for them but outsourcing their fun hobby to it is just bizarre.
>>
>>97223948
If it works for you, anon, then that's good. I personally find that there's enough free resources out there that AI feels rather superfluous, but I get that sometimes there just isn't something yet available that fits that specific mental image you want to convey to others.

I can't wait for an actual full-rounded ai tool for substituting the GM figure, it will contain 99% of retard poseurs out of the hobby.
>inb4 p&p will die!
No, as long as physical wargaming exists there will be a niche for p&p ttrpgs, it will simply return as a wargaming branch if anything.

Unfortunately Edna posted his shit also on /tg/.

Player notes are great. Players should generally strive to take notes. If the group doesn't have at least one person with a strong memory and a note taking habit, they will be worse off for it.

There IS still a difference. When you play the game in text, literally every moment can be archived. Not just the information that you want to refer back to for practical reasons, but the scenes exactly as they happened. You can refamiliarize yourself with things that happened, sure, but you can also literally go back and appreciate them again, without just relying on your memory. You might even spot small details that wouldn't have caught your attention before, just because they're still there for you to catch again.

In my usual group, I'm not the note taker, but I remember most things well enough that I can bring up things that they might have overlooked, so we collaboratively act as the group's ability to recall details. But I also do some stuff on the side over text, and I can see clear value in just being able to go back and read. Even if you're just looking for details, being able to CTRL+F your way for specific words is a huge advantage.

We've been there since at LEAST the point where anons were fucking bots on c.ai
>>
>>97223329
Locking 2hu in a vault with the latest AI model and no internet connection is probably the kindest thing for both him and the rest of us who have to deal with him, THOUGH.
>>
>>97224317
Holy shit I didn't even realize this was Edna. What the fuck.
>>
>>97224317
I'd rather puckee and Literary Lord be locked away, honestly. Those two are much more obnoxious, and don't even talk about games.
