But in large quantities the shapes of the snowflakes refract and bounce the light around so much that it appears white. You could maybe achieve a similar kind of refraction with some form of glass, or quartz, or mica dust, but the second you introduce a binder, you are adding something that gets in the way of that light bouncing, and it diffuses even more, appearing even more white and consistent. Snow is also matte, and so even if you find a binder that allows the most amount of light through it(these tend to be gloss varnish based binders) then you lose that fluffy appearance and it will appear almost doughy and wet looking. I think those are likely the main differences between the two different styles of snow pastes. A perfect snow paste would use a minimal amount extremely sticky binder, that dries clear(silicone base? Whatever e6000 is mad of?), with some form of crystalline substrate. You want it to be clumpy, so it retains a texture when you apply it and doesn't lay flat, or sag. >Tldr: Ive drank too much spiked apple cider today and just wanted to talk about theoretical perfect snow paste
