>Session 1 of buddy's new campaign
>It's clear he hasn't read the rules at all and is totally winging it
>>
>>97230596
/tg/ doesn't care about games, so you're not going to get any sympathy here. Only settings and worldbuilding matter on this board, so they'll support winging it if anything.
>>
>>97230596
Did you have fun though?
>>
>>97230596
Reddit image.
>>
>>97230695
Judging by his image, it doesn't look like it.
>>
>>97230596
Did you provide feedback, anon?
>>
>>97230596
Did you actually bring this up with the GM/other players?
Or are you just pitching words into the void, looking for pity points?
>>
>>97230695
Trying to, I keep having to adjudicate for him since he keeps getting confused. I'm in two games like this now
>Been running game for two years
>Two of my players say they want to run games too
>They've both one the odd one shot and failed short term campaign here and there, was excited to see them try it again
>One picks the ruleset I'm using, another picks a rules lite narrative first thing
>Neither read the rules
>I'm now basically running 3 games
>>
>>97230596
... ok?

But >>97230695 asks the real question
>>
>>97230807

>>97230704 had a real answer.
>>
>>97230753
>Trying to
Damn if I don't sympathize.
>>
>>97230871
OP is a pointless argument starter, and the question is purely rhetorical.
You would know, if you weren't a fucking newfag
>>
>>97230695
>funslop
>>
>>97230978
Then >>97230695 isn't "the real question" in that case.
>>
>>97230997
I bet you only like fun things because they're fun
>>
>>97231195
A game can be both fun and have longevity. I've found games that emphasize "rule of cool" (ie. if the DM likes you then you can do whatever you want) tend to get lots of laughs but then fizzle out after the first session or two.

nice samefagging, op.
>>
>>97230753
That's unfortunately, but they are trying and if you gently nudge them towards actually reading the GMing section in their system of choice, they will hopefully learn eventually. GMing is fucking hard and even if you are well versed in the rules, it is still something you can only get good at through lots of practice and lots of fucking up.

I remember having to fuck up half a dozen campaigns that either fizzled or crashed and burned before I ran a campaign so good that it kept going for 2 straight years.

If someone doesn't have the ability to read the rules on their own then they are not cut out to GM
>>
>>97231712
They're just over eager. You don't have to handhold them, just strongly encourage them. It would help if you actually talked to them and told them that you have no interest in nannying them through every session.
>>
>>97231764
I've been begging people to read the rules for every game we've ever played for years. It's just a genetic thing I think
