I’m running a low fantasy game, and social advancement is gonna be a thing. So the PCs are gonna be rubbing elbows with a lot of noble families as they make their way into high society. I’m just asking for NPCs and ideas. Most of the nobility are humans, but a few are half-elves and halflings.
>>97233040Be sure to give the players the social status that lets them participate in society and intrigue so that they aren't just stuck watching NPCs do stuff and can actually be the protagonists of the story
>>97233040>>97233050make them dukes or earls/counts, or the heirs of duchies or counties
>>97233040make them look like the eurotrash inbreds we've seen throughout history that will sell the point that their ""nobles" rather than some douchebag with money & land.
>>97233040It could be flavorfull to have a separation between the "old guard", who took part of some great conflict, as officers who never needed to use a weapon of course, and a new generation of noble. The formers, especially the half elves, some of whom are old enough to have seen multiple wars, tend to be very proud but also extremely entitled/lazy, since they feel they've done their duty to the kingdom, while the youngers are split between hedonistic dilapideurs, who's need for quick cash can be used for leverage, and more buisness savy types, optimizing farm productions, diversifying investments (higher representation of halflings). You could give them with a "friendly" fellow parvenu, through his fortune or his (false?) acts of heroisms, which could be either a friend, a rival, or someone trying to use the PCs to further his ascension, by helping them marry into a proeminent familly and then use dirts on the pc to sully them both, goading them into a bitter war with a rival,...I encourage you to read the Time of Innocence, it could prove a good source of inspiration.
